We did our civic duty today. Lines and wait times were much shorter than yesterday. The polling place was well staffed and efficient. Lines were socially distanced, everyone wore masks, we got disposable styli for use with the touch screens. If you haven't voted yet, get out and do it!
Our county still uses the old (reliable!) mechanical voting machines. I love the satisfying "klunk" of the lever.
Turnout was slightly heavier than usual at my polling place. First time I've had to stand in line for more than a minute (took about ten minutes to get into the booth). There was a steady stream of people in and out.
Now the waiting and hoping begins.

Don't forget to vote! Early voting in the primaries runs through March 2 and the official primary is on March 6. Since these are primaries, you'll have to pick either the Republican or Democratic primary to vote in, which always bugs me a little since I'm an independent. But given that lately every day at the State and Federal level seems like a race between corruption and incompetence, it was an easy choice this year.

Mark (here holding my Pentax ME) suggested this outing for the August Crappy Camera Club meetup.
The rules are: Bring a 35mm camera and a 24-exposure roll of film. The emulsion can be something conventional, or quirky. Throw all the film rolls into a bag, then pull out one at random. You arrange to meet back at the bar after a certain amount of time. Until you've finished shooting your roll, no beer for you.
This worked out to taking a photo about every three minutes. Often when I'm out for a camera wander, I might go an hour between pictures—so this was quite an adjustment for me. Actually it's a nice exercise to get you shooting in a more loose and uninhibited way.
As usual, Denis brought the camera that was not even remotely crappy. Two of them, actually.

I never get a sticker since I vote absentee, so today when I dropped my ballot off at the polling place I made sure to ask for one.

In all seriousness, I tired really really hard to make a firm decision when all this campaigning started last year. I watched every debate and tried to be informed about all the topics. Yet, even till this day, I still just could not have a firm stance on who I wanted. I feel sort of bad about it. So, today was my first time ever voting, and I went on a whim. Hopefully, next time, I will have stronger feelings towards one side or the other. At least I'm not like my friends, who are basically voting uniformed of anything for a candidate just "because it is cool".
I think both are equally qualified to be either good or bad presidents, let's see. And no, I'll let you decide on who I voted for.
But if McCain loses, there won't be anymore Tina Fey on SNL, the only reason worth watching SNL nowadays...... hahhaa!
So, who's going to win?
The West Side Citizens' Organization, just a few blocks from my house and the polling station, had a big tent outside with a giant "I Voted" sign. Sadly there was no one in the tent.
