even with all its imperfections, i'm grateful to live in a country where i am free to vote for the candidates of my choice.
It was election day yesterday and my oldest was able to vote for the first time! It was so wonderful to go with her to our polling place and watch her walk up to that booth.
I am grateful today that we as women have the right to vote. I am thankful for the women who fought for that right. I am thankful that voting for us is four blocks down, not a days journey in the hot sun. I am thankful that my children are growing up believing it is important to vote, even in the little elections.
standing in line at 10 minutes to 7am, and it felt like christmas morning, so crazily excited to VOTE. i double-checked that i filled in the right ballots about 18 times before turning it in. now i'm all giddy.
and my sister just sent me the following email she got from her friend Hilton (in Manhattan), which i love so much i just had to post it here -- perfectly captures the atmosphere of today:
"Walking around downtown. Incredible sense of energy unleashed. Poets and freaks who haven't been up at this hour since they were born, standing in line to be heard. I want to eat the whole city. Walking over to Christopher Street to get what the trannies are feeling. Depressed and broke black folk already out in Brooklyn, in strong force. Want to kiss all the missed people, the ghosts.
Waiting in line to pull the lever, I heard Hilton? It was Anna Deveare Smith with wet hair. After she got her booth, Police Officer Gonzalez whispered to me: That lady? She's in the movies, right? And I said: Yes. But so are you."
i am also so saddened to see that Obama's grandmother passed away yesterday -- my own grandmother died back in august, and I'm sorry she didn't live to cast her vote today, i know how excited she was about it... so my vote counts for both her and me today!
I have never seen such excitement at the polls before, such energy. It seemed from every booth were the clicks and flashing of cameras.
People were beaming as they left, happy and laughing with neighbors.
I voted and want you to vote, too. Please share the need to vote in 2020 and beyond. If you take a photo of your voting in some manner, please, leave a comment so I can like your photo(s)! :)
While you may support someone I would never consider, I still want you to vote and for your vote to count.
Maybe I'm stupid, because since the 1868 election there have been thousands, if not millions of people, who want to deny the vote to US Citizens over the majority age. Why? Scared their vote will end something they enjoy or love or they don't trust or like someone of a different race / skin color, religion, etc.
My mother taught me God created people of different skin color for the beauty of man. If all the flowers were the same, there would be no beauty in the garden. God created diversity and it is not our place to disrespect or denigrate another person for how God created the person. It is, after all, God who creates us and to look down on God's work is sin, if not an abomination!
Please vote! Please vote for honesty, trustworthiness, and for those who will put the American people ahead of party, ahead of themselves, and will govern for all citizens and not just themselves.

I will say I supported with multiple contributions various "Flip The Senate" PACS.
If you, like in IL, have one or both US Senator(s) up for election, please, please, vote Democratic and not Republican in 2020 (and 2022).

This is my 30 Days of Gratitude shot for Nov. 3: I'm grateful to have the right to vote. I barely made it to the polls in time (and I went to the same place where I voted in the last election aaaaand, it turned out to be some kind of support group meeting. But I called Jonathan, he looked up where I was really supposed to be, and I made it there with about 15 minutes to spare), but I think it's important to vote whenever you have the opportunity, Also, it kind of goes without saying, but I'm incredibly grateful that we elected Barack Obama one year ago today. (P.s. isn't it about time that spell check recognizes the words Barack Obama?)
And then I had a little party.
I am SO HONORED to be a part of such an incredible historic event.
Here's to Change.

Everyone better get out and vote. Even if you aren't doing it for my guy, or your state won't go for the guy you want, go do it. Vote for love, for peace, for the advancement and betterment of everyone in the nation - not for pettiness and fear. If we all help each other and make our voices heard, we can all make a difference and bring this nation to a new and finer place.
And, I suppose, I'll go ahead and dip my toes into required weekly photos. With that said, I'm going to start out small, doing the 52 Weeks group. Hopefully I can keep things going the whole year. Who knows, I may really get to liking it. :D
So I was going to vote on the 8th but.....the weather. I decided today would be better. After I voted there was a beautiful rainbow in the sky. Taken through the vehicle window. Hoping it's a sign of approval. LOL!

November 6, 2018 - This morning before work, I went to my Polling Place at St. Luke's Baptist Church to Vote in the Midterm Elections! Here is a tripod selfie of me after I voted! I challenge all who can vote, to go out and vote today!
It's time to make a mid-course election correction.
Even if you're disgusted by the candidates of both major parties, go to the polls and vote for the Greens, the independents, the Commies, the Whigs, whoever. Let's push this two-party system over a cliff and show our support for the other guys!
This photo took three elections to set up. One of them, they had the wrong kind of sticker. Then I needed to set up a shoot with someone willing to let me stick I Voted stickers on her boobs. This model (I asked if she was okay with me posting this, but forgot to ask if she was okay with me attaching her name) was totally up for it. She's also wearing an American Flag bikini bottom, but you can't see that in this shot. Sorry.
I did vote today, too. I'd say you should go out and vote too, but I think polls are pretty much closed by the time anyone sees this.
(I voted for Hillary Clinton. Fight me.)
