this is the first time in MA that we have had the option of voting early. the town hall's parking lot was not totally full, i knew which choices i was making, and the even though it was the first time on the first morning of the first day, it all went smoothly. AND i figured out how to get a pic from my phone to FB and then from FB to flickr-- i'd say it was a win-win-win monday :):)

If you live in the U.S. and are eligible to vote, today would be an excellent day to do it - whether you got your rights under the original Constitution (white men), the 15th amendment (black men), or the 19th amendment (all women). The 24th amendment means we don't have to pay a poll tax, and if you're 18, you can thank the 26th amendment for not making you wait till 2012.
Tomorrow, on the other hand, would not be a good day to vote.

Today was awesome. There was an issue with my registration to vote so I had to call the registrars office. They told me that I would need to go down to Norwalk and vote there before November 4th. I didn't even know that you could vote before the election unless you voted by mail. Well, that is not the case. I went down there and as I drove up, there was quite a line outside. Everyone was extremely nice and pointed me in the right direction. I waited for about an hour and a half. It wasn't bad at all. What was awesome was I got to take some pretty fantastic pictures documenting the whole experience. You can find those here. I'll be adding to them later tomorrow. One thing that I was impressed with was the amount of people and how diverse the whole process was. There were also some great conversations happening in line. Prop 8, Prop 4, Prop 7 and 11. Today, I'm wearing purple, white, and gold for the women who made it possible for me to say: "I voted".
The Suffragists adopted those colors for their banners and flags.
From The National Women's Party's website: "Purple is the color of loyalty, constancy to purpose, unswerving steadfastness to a cause. White, the emblem of purity, symbolizes the quality of our purpose; and gold, the color of light and life, is as the torch that guides our purpose, pure and unswerving."
Owen didn't like the sticker on his shirt. He literally kept covering it with his hand. So I put it in the next best place.
Owen accompanied us for his very first election. He was fascinated by all the people. The only place more diverse in Wisconsin is the DMV.
And for all you crazies out there, no babies were harmed in the staging of this photo.

I participated in the democratic process, but the election didn't turn out as I had hoped; as usual, big money squashed the regular folks (both locally and nationally). The results are very disappointing (locally) and frightening (nationally).

Somehow Elijah has snuck out and voted in the last two elections. He had to write Noah's name on the ballet since Noah decided late that he would run for President. After voting Elijah received his "I Voted" sticker which he's proudly displaying (actually, a fang went through the sticker and was stuck). :)
It would be nice if these would put an end to all of the ads, mail, solicitations of donations and other annoyances, but I don't think that will end for another few weeks.

p.s: I write this 10 days after uploading this photo, 10 days after I voted for Mir-Hossein Mousavi, and yet we didn't have a calm sleep after that day. Many people has been killed bcs of protest against the election resulsts, bcs they want their own rights....
Still I am not regretted of voting, still we believe who is our real president, still we continue, may god bless us.

Today we voted by mail, just two citizens exercising their constitutional right to vote. I encourage all eligible American voters to also exercise their right to vote. We, the people must be heard.

I just voted in the most consequential election in my lifetime if not in the history of our country. Here’s hoping the nightmare will soon be over and all we deem good and precious can begin to be restored.
