on my walk home i stopped at b&n to look through some magazines when the super nice barista says to me, "you look familiar, what's your name".

Nothing much going on this week in my Filofax except for voting today. I'm becoming more cognizant of elections other than the presidential ones. This is the second time I have voted in a non-presidential election.
Early voting starts today! Whether or not you believe the ability to vote should be a right, a privilege, or a responsibility, just do it! And please, if you don't vote, don't bitch.
For whatever reason, Sam got it in his head that all the star stickers he earns should go on the worst day this month.
My husband Joe and I waited in line all afternoon with an ever growing throng of our neighbors, in the pouring down rain, at the local middle school to vote together.
That's our new family tradition. We are always going to vote together.
I had just plopped down in the car exhausted and very cold. All I could think about was "honey, get a picture of my sticker" - we just cast our ballot in a very historic race for freedom and democracy.
It was a glorious day.

I've always said that if you don't vote, you forfeit your right to complain. Still, i'm not unrealistic about the generally limited effect of any one person's vote, especially in current-day USA. But i voted. So i can complain later....
I was up early today and reached the poling booth much before 7 AM. Was pleasantly surprised to see a beeline formed infront of booth already but the happiness was short-lived since they took almost 45 minutes (from the scheduled start of 7 AM) to commence the poling process. I was probably among the first 10 people who voted in my poling booth. The poling booth itself is verrrrry small and conjusted (as usual).... There were about 2 poling officers (with support staff) and 5 poling agents which meant that the room was literally fuming with CO2 !! :-D
Anyways, am back now after exercising my franchise and here's the proof...
And yes, I have to mention that the pictures they had against my dad's and my names in their registers were fake !!! I mean, they had the picture of some old man against my name !!!! God save this earth :-D

I've always thought that these stickers were great conversation pieces to talk to co-workers and strangers about the elections. Some got washed some I didn't get, the rest ended up here on my mirror as a reminder

South Carolina held it's presidential primaries the past two Saturdays, and I felt compelled to vote because this election is so important. I thought that the last election was really important, but this one is even more so, and I think the whole world will be watching, too. Although sometimes it seems like my vote doesn't count, I always vote anyway because it is our right. And, as I see it, if you don't vote, you shouldn't complain. So since I do vote, that gives me the right to complain when I am unhappy with the way things are being done, and I do!
I was first impressed with Obama when he was the keynote speaker at the Democratic National Convention in 2004, and here is his speech that blew me away:

I'm sorry if you're tired of hearing this and if you've been on the receiving end of 10 robocalls a night. The parties WANT you to be tired. They don't like surprises. Surprise them. Go vote. Show up in droves. Show up early if your state allows it. Get the little pin or sticker. Tell your neighbors. Tell your friends. Tell your family. GO VOTE!

84 & 85 respectively when this was taken for the election in 2008. Dad was so proud to do his civic duty...he was on oxygen and it was hard for him to walk very far and he could have gotten an absentee ballot but he wanted to go cast his vote with the rest of us. That was the last election he was able to vote in as he passed the next fall....with the elections coming up in Nov. it made me remember with pride his love for this country and his responsibility. He is sorely missed!

Rode my bike to the polls, saw a bit of blue in the sky so I decided to ride to work as well. Cold ride, but so worth it!
In Clarkdale we vote at the beautiful and historic Clark Memorial Clubhouse. And unlike the folks wrapped around the streets in Maricopa County, I was able to walk right in, no waiting, and finish voting in 3 minutes flat.
I had planned to get a pick of my "I Voted" sticker today, but my polling location wasn't giving them out. They just stamped my voter registration card--bummer!
My son's school had a mock election today, so I improvised.

By the way, that curtain I'm lying on is the freakishly, glowingly green screen tarp my boss bought yesterday for shoots (this image does not capture its radioactivity). It was such a perfect contrast to the red, white and blue.
