Last night, one of my first calculus students had his senior photography exhibit at Bradley University. As I left the exhibit, I noticed this building and was inspired to get out my camera. As I started to edit the photo this morning, I began to experiment and came up with ten iterations of the same photo that I hope each evoke a different response.

The lesson that I have learned from this...don't let the way that you look at something get in the way of seeing it.

Please take a moment to look at all ten variations.

These four cards stand as a test or a prototype of my intended final 2D Iteration. I had taken a normal letter size piece of printer paper, cut out holes large enough to provide the ink to print on the cards, and taped the cards onto the paper so that they lay the proper way. I will include in another picture the extended process in which I formatted the paper and the pictures I printed. For these four cards, I had picked one of every suit and printed a photo of two naked women who may be innocently cuddling. I hoped to, which the limitation of what could be printed on the cards, only imply that they were lesbians (with the critique I learned to include more pictures that may be a bit more obvious. It was also suggested that I display them in a typical card-game setting, such as Solitaire.)

More iterative changes for the web app I am working on, going really into detail with these as I think were pretty close . A cool mixture of Flex/JQuery/XHTML and CSS. Any feedback welcome?

Well, I was in Korea for holidays...

the first iteration of the Still Life Cafe was in an even-smaller town called Olancha -- not sure when they moved the business to Independence? but i think it was relatively recently, maybe a year or two?

Deanna (on the left) and Mike are long-time clients and friends, though, and Deanna actually made a quilt (with her quilting group) from a photograph of their original place in Olancha -- which Malika, the chef, insisted on pulling out & showing to me!!

it really is an amazing piece -- right down to the daily menu over on the righthand side. they plan on hanging it in the restaurant, once they can figure out a good way to "frame" it...

please read the whole story of this lovely evening here -- and i'm going to be emailing this lot to Deanna, as well as sending best wishes that there hasn't been any damage from the big mudslide this weekend!

Fort Hood Air Assault instructor Sgt. Jon Garcia, from Santa Cruz, Cali., inspects the safety equipment of a UH-60 Black Hawk during Phase Three rappel testing of class 02-14, Nov. 20, 2013. Air Assault School qualifies soldiers to conduct airmobile and air assault helicopter operations, to include aircraft orientation, sling load operations, proper rappelling techniques and fast-rope techniques. The school itself is 10 days of rigorous, fast paced training. The high standards of the school require the student to take part in a 12-mile march with rucksack in under three hours on the morning of graduation to be awarded their wings. Every iteration of the Fort Hood Air Assault School begins with 132 students, and ends with an average of 80 graduates. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. Ken Scar, 7th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment)

SURPRISE!!! PARTY + ZINE RELEASE

July 21, 2012, 7 - 10pm

SURPRISE!!! from 8 - 9pm

Without giving away too much, we’d like to invite you to the newest iteration of SURPRISE!!!, a performance event, group exhibition and zine release party on July 21, from 7 - 10pm.

SURPRISE!!! is a recurring, roving performance project, created in 2009 by artists Aaron Wojack and Calder Zwicky. Each SURPRISE!!! event is a site-specific occurrence, taking place in vastly different environments including art galleries, boats, tents, and more. Coinciding with the performance event will be a retrospective group exhibition featuring three years of photography, ephemera, and artwork by collaborators and zine contributors: Aaron Anderson, Gabe Dikel, Keith Mendak and Angelo Zwicky. In addition, we will be releasing two brand new issues of SURPRISE!!! Each performance is a catalyst for the next issue, so photographs from this event will be published in the next issue of SURPRISE!!! along with a new selection of guest artworks.

More info is available at www.gazillionmillion.com.

Please join us Saturday, July 21 from 7 - 10pm, for an opening party + zine release for issues #5 and #6. The SURPRISE!!! event will be held from 8 - 9pm.

SURPRISE!!! is the eleventh in a series of group exhibitions dedicated to providing self-publishing artists, who generally share their work through printed matter and other ephemeral media, with a platform for exhibition, experimentation and exploration outside of the printed format, organized by Aimee Lusty.

The second day of the 2014 Pacific Resilience Disaster Relief Exercise & Exchange was held at the Fire Service and Civil Defence Training Academy in Dhaka, Bangladesh on Aug. 19. The day's activities included a Table Top Exercise (TTX) and a Field Training Exercise (FTX). The PR DREE 2014 is the fifth iteration of the annual Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Relief engagement between the United States and Bangladesh. This year's PR DREE brings together civilian and military personnel from both countries, as well as several international stakeholders, to discuss earthquake response in Dhaka City. It will feature practical exercise of response techniques associated with logistics, emergency communicatins, and Urban Search & Rescue.

Putting this concept to bed for now. It lacks some cohesiveness which will be remedied for the next two concepts.

Iteration number x of x+1 for this building. It's now government offices. The Galleria was a mall that did okay for what seemed like about six months and then tanked.

BFA Glass 2021

Glass, steel

Collaboration with Ndivhuho Rasengani. Iterations is the culmination of a series of works on self-harm. Through the process of slumping and kiln-forming, nine glass panels were created using the same mold, which deteriorated with each firing. The resulting ethereal shifts across panels emphasize the importance of discerning: both looking at the object and looking through, physically and metaphorically. The engraved words of my story are barely visible, just as scars of the body are not necessarily on the surface and viewable to all. This folding screen acts as a second skin, a permeable surface holding memory, just as glass never forgets its history.

This was my original 'final' version of my infographic. However upon reflection and criticism from flatmates etc I felt that by making the composition quite so wavy and organic some of its coherence was lost. I didn't really want to change the curved dotted lines however and so I felt a better idea would be to add some arrows that indicate direction so that the sense of time is easier to understand.

This is an early iteration of my infographic.

It shows a lot of information I want to convey but there is no hierarchy or focus, I am going to keep working on making the names of the technologies more obvious and creating a way for the eye to move around the page naturally and easily.

Three Iterations of Greek Column, Monoprints and Collagraph, 8x18"

The thesis of my Concentration is based in self-portraiture, the varying ways an individual “sees” oneself over time, and how this affects representation. Changing physical traits will noticeably affect representation of one’s self over time, however this pales when compared to the remodeling of framing devices in locating one’s artistic voice. A recurring motif is the tension between stasis and change, and how even iterations of a repetitive printmaking process can reveal idiosyncrasies.

Iteration design for podium... got a lot of criticism. Used prior to his European world tour.

First iteration of one possible flash and SRAM memory cartridge for one model of low-cost home computer used in Asia. The three double-sided breakout boards were designed using Inkscape (because at that time I hadn't yet learned any EDA software which could run on my PC.) They were made using the laser toner transfer method to lay resist and ferric chloride to etch.
