The original is at the center. Transformation begins in upper left corner, and iterations are done clockwise.

An hour well-spent, I'd say.

Early iteration of the landing pad. I like the middle grill, but the grey-and-blue is a bit too subdued. And the combo of floodlights and landing lights around the edge just was too busy.

Gah, can't stop tweaking this while I should be doing something else entirely!

Deformation of the Sierpinski tetrahedron.

This is the 3rd iteration of this image. I recombined the straight from camera image with a fully processed image to produce this. The original is directly to the right and the processed image is to the right of that one (two over).

I liked the drama of the lighting of the streight from camera version but the lighting and details of the retouched image.

So I reloaded them both as a single document in Photoshop.

Put the origial version above the retouched version.

Made the origianal version a luminocity layer so it would just affect the lighting of the retouched image.

Made that layer 35 transparent. That was enough to bring back the drama of the original but retain the details of the retouched image.

Made a mask and used fully opaque and partially opaque brushes to bring back some details of the mouth eye and eyebrows.

I then had to use a healing brush again to remove a zillion crud spots that had returned to the back of the chair.

In the current iteration of Robonaut, Robonaut 2 or R2, NASA and General Motors are working together with assistance from Oceaneering Space Systems engineers to accelerate development of the next generation of robots and related technologies for use in the automotive and aerospace industries. Robonaut 2 (R2) is a state of the art highly dexterous anthropomorphic robot. Like its predecessor Robonaut 1 (R1), R2 is capable of handling a wide range of EVA tools and interfaces, but R2 is a significant advancement over its predecessor.

Initially R2 will be deployed on a fixed pedestal inside the ISS. Next steps include a leg for climbing through the corridors of the Space Station, upgrades for R2 to go outside into the vacuum of space, and then future lower bodies like legs and wheels to propel the R2 across Lunar and Martian terrain. A four wheeled rover called Centaur 2 is being evaluated at the 2010 Desert Field Test in Arizona as an example of these future lower bodies for R2.

Later iterations of the Gemeinde Wien projects extended the perimeter block typology to span multiple blocks. This is the ceremonial entrance to Matteoti Hof near the Margaretengürtel. Note that the retail uses are exiled to small pavilions just outside the "town gate"; inside is just houses and playgrounds.

The latest iteration of my Tompkins Square Park Tree Map. I think I finally have the tree numbering/naming scheme figured out. I've divided the park up into various segments and created trails around them. For example, instead of a single trail along Avenue B, it is divided into north, central and south. And they are divided into trees west of the sidewalk (in the park) and east (along the curb). Thus the first tree on Avenue B along the sidewalk, a great old elm, is numbered/named Bne1. The trails travel clockwise. For the circular trails, the ones that circle the "islands," the numbers start at the northernmost (most uptown) tree. This has required me to name these segments, these names are open to comment. Some of the gardens have official names, If you know an official or otherwise name for any of these areas, let me know. This is still too full of errors for me to release a hi-res version.

By the way I am using Inkscape the fine open-source vector graphics editing program to draw the map.

In the first iteration I realised I had crammed them all in too close, using a 2 stud gap between each figure. I then went back over the layout and stripped out alternating guys, leaving a 6 stud gap between columns and a 5 stud separation in each row, with a 2 stud offset on alternating columns. It meant I would be able to fill the available surface more completely, but my family returned from holiday before I finished (because I got a bit bored of it) and it got dismantled due to space restrictions as we had guests coming. Mk III will be better next year.

Day 345 of 2015. Kate and I are cooking up a little experiment. We gave it our first shot today. Here's Kate's reaction upon reviewing our work.
