Some of you may have met Gertie before. She is an Australian Galah, one of a number that visit us most days for some wild bird seed (including sometimes a little extra treat of sunflower seeds).
She is the dearest of birds, nearly tame as she may have been someone's pet and while she won't quite eat from our hand, she will allow us to get right beside her, even face to face. She comes right up to our back door and looks in. Sometimes she comes in the morning and sometimes the late afternoon and she usually has the knack of coming when the pigeons are off somewhere else. Just as well, as she takes her time eating and can be there over an hour.
We only put the seed out when our bird visitors arrive or the pigeons devour it within minutes.
Gertie's full name is Dirty Gertie as the first few times she came with mud all over her beak from grubbing around in the mud and a totally dishevelled appearance. And she usually waddles over and eats off a large ceramic plate we lay out for her on the ground, not the table with a small lid as here.
We know one day she will fly off and never come back and we will be the poorer for her going and the richer for the blessing of her visits.
Last year I swapped some home grown tomato plants for a plant I've never grown in my garden, Teasel. I'm pleased to say several teasel were given to me and once they flowered they where enjoyed by lots of insects especially bees. This is one of the seedheads taken macro 1:1 using flash and LED spotlights.

Padstow is a delightful little town on the western side of the beautiful Camel estuary in North Cornwall, a mile or so from the sea. The inner harbour is very picturesque, while the outer harbour is very much the working part. Although the town receives most of its income from the tourist trade there is still a small fishing fleet that operates from here.

When it comes to fashion you often hear things like less is more or she can't wear that ... shes to big... it's not right for her body shape... blah blah blah.
The fact of the matter is simple everyone has an opinion and no matter what you do you can't please everyone, and you shouldn't try. If you are comfortable and feel good in what you are wearing it will show. Confidence is SEXY!
So be you because there will never be another.
ChicModa has put out a cute skirt outfit that both tickles my inner babygirl and makes me feel confident and sexy. Introducing Emma skirts and tanks. Intake II is a small manmade lake on Bishop Creek, which is much more appealing than its nondescript name would lead you to believe. I first heard of this area from a gentleman in the Bishop, California Visitors Center and was pleased to discover this beautiful lake in the mountains to the west. On this morning I had great light and calm winds, allowing me to capture the colors and their reflection ... with a hint of lake-fog on the water.

The beach is one of the places where I feel like to go to think. The best place to go when I have a lot of worries is the West Coast, and although Denmark is a small country, I didn't feel like driving that far yesterday, so I went to beach closest to my home in stead. The ice hasn't gone yet, so I couldn't enjoy the sound of the waves, but I did get plenty of fresh air and a good chance to think.

The Boca Grande Lighthouse is located at the end of beautiful Gasparilla Island on Florida's west Coast. The island is small, quaint and very beautiful. Only a handful of restaurants and shops occupy the island....Visitors rent golf carts to get around. The Garparilla Inn is very popular among tourist and golfers. The lighthouse is the main draw for photographers.
The Karwendel is again accessible for non-winter sports enthusiasts, and I'm already on my way.
My first tour this year took me through a few fields of old snow, but we finally made it to the summit.

Since I need some winter images for a proper photo calendar i looked for something worth capturing during those days when we had at least a little bit of snow.
Actually the amount of snow we had wasn’t even enough to cover the grass on this hill, so I cloned out hundreds of grass blades, which was great fun.
Not.

Chuckanut Mountain is the only place where the Cascade Mountains have their footings in the salt water. Oyster Dome is near the crest of the mountain and derives its name from nearby Oyster Creek which has, not surprisingly, rich oyster beds at its mouth. The views look out over the San Juan Islands and Salish Sea. The mountain is made of sandstone, the parent sands having been deposited in fresh water rivers eons ago. The beds are reportedly 20,000 feet thick, and lie at very steep angles due to ancient folding. Hard to imagine.

A rose is a woody perennial flowering plant of the genus Rosa, in the family Rosaceae, or the flower it bears. There are over three hundred species and tens of thousands of cultivars.
They form a group of plants that can be erect shrubs, climbing, or trailing, with stems that are often armed with sharp prickles.
WHERE DO YOU GO TO MY LOVELY… Rose

Thank you Peter Sarstedt
A crying Rose.
The best roses come from my own garden, more fragrant and more opulent they are.
Monochromatic? Not really he? All the shades of grey... from a true black to white... as it should be!
A flower image in b&w...
I love the subtle tones, all the varied tones, that give the flower/petals/stems their texture, depth and form, their delectable shapes accentuated, extracted and emphasised without the colour.
Don't you agree?

“In this quiet corner, the best wild flowers grow, and the first peepers are heard in the spring, even before the snow melts. Here, owls call from the treetops in the early morning, and the irreverent crows hold their noisy conventions. Here, the mother deer has her fawn, and the migrating geese come to rest. It is here that the fox is safe from the hunters.”

I attended my 13th protest on behalf of Black Lives Matter this past Saturday since the pandemic began but I haven't brought my camera to the last few because I am honestly just there to support what I believe in. Black Lives Matter is not a photo op or a hash tag. It's a belief system that you actually adhere to every day because Love is a verb. I don't believe it is my place, as a white person, to tell the story of this movement but if you all are interested, there's a phenomenal Chicago photographer who is doing an excellent job capturing the essence and joy of the community coming together and he goes by Vashon:
www.instagram.com/vashon_photo/
You may have heard different media spin on protests in Chicago. All of the ones I have attended continue to be peaceful. I ask you to question the narratives that you read when there are advertiser funds involved. I ask you to scrutinize those words when there are political biases tied to political candidates. I ask you to listen with an open mind and an open heart.
Currently the movement is focused on a few things:
1. Reinvesting in communities some of the $1.2 BILLION dollars per year (roughly $600 per resident) that our city spends on police.
2. CPAC or Civilian Police Accountability Council which would guarantee more police accountability (there are some officers still on the force with over 40 complaints for example).
3. Removal of cops or "school resource officers" in schools and instead hiring actual social workers, nurses, and librarians.
4. Moratorium on current evictions during a pandemic and investment in communities that need quality low income housing, employment, public education, an end to food deserts, and mental health clinics.
5. An end to ICE raids and the department responsible for literally caging children, deporting families, and forcing human beings to live in Covid petri dishes where they are sometimes forced to work in forced slave labor conditions.
If you are an abolitionist...If you believe every human life is worth fighting for, you cannot be silent on these issues. If there are no protests where you live, you can donate money to local food banks, Southern Poverty Law Center, or another worthy cause. You can vote for candidates who support Black Lives and human rights. You can speak out against school closings when they occur in a neighborhood that is dis-proportionally people of color. You can call your local school district to see if there are cops in your public schools and voice your opinion against this. You can do research to see how much your city spends on police and ask the city council to spend some of these funds on the actual community.
In this photo are two girls watching one of the Black Lives Matter protests. They appear to not show any emotion or recognition of the movement that is happening. I hope I'm wrong. We must be better than this.

There is a second railroad in the Pittston area that interchanges with the RBMN. In business since 1994 the Luzerne and Susquehanna operates 60 miles of assorted bits of cast of scraps of once important class 1 routes that once served the Scranton Wilkes-Barre area. The valley was placed with a nearly incomprehensible web of rails at one time that generated carloads and revenue to boggle the mind. But now so little remains and what does is but a shadow of itself. In fact the trackage beneath this unit that sits stationary, blue flagged, and tied down was once the LV's mainline into Wilkes-Barre.
LS 1751 itself is an EMD GP9 blt. Oct. 1959 ad Pennsylvania Railroad 7242. The venerable geep is now the property of RJ Corman Railroad group which bought the L&S in August 2020. One wonders if 1751 will survive and trade her somber LS black for brilliant Corman crimson. I guess we'll just have to wait and see...

Whitby is a seaside town in North Yorkshire, England. It has an established maritime, mineral and tourist heritage. Its East Cliff is home to the ruins of Whitby Abbey, where Cædmon, the earliest recognised English poet, lived. The fishing port developed during the Middle Ages, supporting important herring and whaling fleets and was (along with the nearby fishing village of Staithes) where Captain Cook learned seamanship. It is also, of course, where Dracula famously landed in Bram Stoker's novel. The gulls are huge and it is an offence to feed them due to the number of attacks in recent years. This one is asking for chips.
