This is a special message from Chevron and Muppet Sam the American Eagle for those weirdos Andy & Mike of the Yes Men.
Chevron recently rolled out their ridiculous new "We Agree" advertising campaign. And they were immediately punk'd by political pranksters The Yes Men.
Now the Yes Men have put out a call for more spoofs, mash-ups and remixes of Chevron's print ads and TV commercials. This is one of my contributions.
Find out more and join the fun here:

And these are the real ads. Chevron must think we're all stupid:
Schiehallion is a very impressive mountain whose appearance changes every day. Most days there is some cloud cover. This adds to the mystical quality which the mountain often has.HFF.

I took this photo in Braives, Belgium. It was a magic day. The colors
of the field, grass, sky and trees were just in perfect harmony.
These 2 trees remind me of immortal lovers...

Love is Colorful
A poem by Peter S. Quinn
Love is colorful
In its true simplicity
With its inside pull
Always more to be
Like a cloudless sky
In the never ending
Reaching high near by
With its color blending
Love is for all
Always true and new
Summer’s winter fall
As they both come thru
Every freshly take
That never stays for long
In its happy wake
Of a summer song
Love is all of this
Never ending glow
Mystic light in bliss
In its evening flow
Rising skies dawn
With their moments give
Where feelings are drawn
And in heart shall live
This is part of a community project under construction. For now i made 9 buildings. My goal is to get 12 to 15. For now i will do lower house and some street ornaments and vehicles.
This Beach is the most developed, most vibrant, most visited beach of Phuket that never fails to impress visitors. Located approximately 15 kilometers from the city, the beach has a wide range of accommodations and Shopping arcades, and provides magnificent leisure activities and energetic night-time entertainment.
With half-moon shape of sloped, white-powdery Beach considered the most beautiful on the island, Patong was the first beach in Phuket that was developed to serve local and international tourists. The three-kilometer beach is now Phuket's tourist central with the most choices of accommodations, restaurants, spas, tourist-related services and Shopping venues. The vibe here is dynamic so it lures in more of younger tourists who love to experience the fun and challenging water sports such as jet ski, wind surf and parasail. At the center of Patong finds Bang La, a nightlife central with selections of bars and clubs for every preferences.

this is the frame designed by Lu Sim, I'm going to try building a reFrame, I always wanted one, there are 2 things that I'm not sure I did ok/didn't have the piece so I had to improvise, I didn't have the knee piece so I just used an alternative, and the chest area is not clear on how to conect it to the ball joint for the torso. but I think I managed, so next step, the armor!
btw go buy his lug's mech wars book, it is amazing and offers great insights on mech building

...is all it takes to get this view at the otherwise quite unscenic Pine Junction, where the action is heavy but the angles are not.
For those not from around here, Pine Junction (though not much of a physical junction anymore) is a very popular spot for rail enthusiasts around Northwest Indiana. Located at the end of Clark Road in Gary, both the NS and CSX's busy eastward corridors out of Chicago have crossings at grade, and the CN's extremely busy ex. EJ&E Kirk Yard always has something moving in and/or out of it. But the underdog of the all of the lines off of Clark is the former EJ&E City Track. Traffic is slim, but interesting. The only two moves you can realistically catch are the South Shore's AF2 Kirk Interchange turn, and both the loaded and unloaded CSX Coke Express trains.
Coke Express, you might ask? Those of you that pay even the slightest attention to my uploads will know that steel mill rails are, by far, my favorite. I'm very lucky to live where I do - right in the center of the "industrial megaplex that never sleeps". While most of my steel mill adventures have led me to Cleveland Cliffs' Indiana Harbor Works, I have never once focused on Gary Works - owned by US Steel. As of late I've taken a huge interest in it, as far less people (myself included) follow what goes in and out of it: a new railroading puzzle to solve, and (hopefully) more interesting trains to start following!
The first I decided on were the CSX Coke Express trains. These K182 and K183 trains run (essentially) daily, between US Steel's Gary Works and the company's Clairton Coke Works near Pittsburgh, and serve the obvious purpose - delivering coke for Gary to use in their steel production. I won't go in to too many specifics, as like B09, the Short Line and several other interesting steel mill trains, I plan on making a new series following these trains...
So, back to my initial statement. A three minute walk off of Clark Road along the City Track leads you into DNR-protected dune - a landform that is another thing unique to the place I call home. The peace and tranquility is broken as CSX K183, the empty Coke Express bound for Clairton, PA for reloading, begins it's journey. Despite starting in CN territory, a CSX crew has assembled this train and is running it.
This image is a 5-photo pano at 24mm, I downsized it for posting. Real sky at the time, I did hold a CPF in front of the lens. The property has been on it's own for at least 25 yrs now, the entire knoll has been taken over by Blackberries. My County in Oregon has tough zoning laws to preserve agricultural land. Once homes are built then chances are it will never see farming again. No house on this section of land, very expensive start-up property when you consider equipment and a home building. This section was originally a Land Grant and looks like a cattle operation. Oh, yes it's a Cherry tree to the right.
I do relate so well to this quote....art is my solace no matter the end result....the only time my brain isn't running at high speed... the only time I'm quiet...it's my meditation.
Thank you to borealnz for the texture.
“A mandala is a spiritual and ritual symbol in Asian cultures. It can be understood in two different ways: externally as a visual representation of the universe or internally as a guide for several practices that take place in many Asian traditions, including meditation. In Hinduism and Buddhism, the belief is that by entering the mandala and proceeding towards its center, you are guided through the cosmic process of transforming the universe from one of suffering into one of joy and happiness”
This is Noisette, which is french for hazelnut, jumping in our cover-crop on my family's farm. She had caught the scent of a mouse and was searching for it, leaping high over the foliage to grab a better view of her surroundings.
This is from the archives. For some reason I was thinking about it as I drove to work today. I was remembering that day and how we went to the park for our lunch hour on a sunny day. We lay in the grass at my favorite park and he made me laugh so hard I cried. He took this picture. Only I can’t remember what he said to make me laugh. I only know he does this often and it’s only one of the reasons I’m so in love with him. He just makes things better.
It is a photo i taked last summer. I remeber my reaction when i realized I had taken it in JPEG.

Santa Maria di Leuca is the point of the peninsula's stiletto heel. The Greeks called it Leukos, meaning brilliant sun, while the Romans called it "the place at the end of the earth". Situated in the prime part of the Salento, Leuca is a paradise on a promontory between two seas.
It has ancient origins, with paleolithic traces found in the grottoes that riddle the waterfront cliffs. There are Greek, Phoenician and Cretan inscriptions in the caves, too. There is a basilica occupying the top of the promontory, built over the remains of an ancient temple to Minerva. It is said that the apostle Paul passed through here on his way to Rome, Christianized the temple and dedicated it to the Madonna, making it a revered sanctuary for centuries which is still visited by flocks of faithful from all over Europe. The Santuario di Santa Maria is milky white and the inscription on the door says it is the portal to paradise. The views certainly make it feel true! Inside there is an ancient iron cross bearing two keys, an interesting artful relic.
The Torre Vecchia was constructed as a coastal watch tower in the 1500s but the town escaped the pirate raids that battered other sea-faring cities of Puglia. It remained a sleepy fishing village until the end of the 1800s when it started to gain tourists attracted to the fascinating seascape and incredible panoramas. It became the summer residence of many artistocratic Pugliesi who built splendid villas, decorating the seafront with their varying styles and fancies. The town is still tranquil though it has an upscale feel.
The marina is backed by a low hill and a lighthouse. There are both long sandy beaches and rocky coves along the cape fronting the clean sapphire waters. This is a fabulous place where you can enjoy both sunrise and sunset over two seas from the same spot!

They say the weather is very changeable in Scotland , which I've always found to be true, today being no exception, the day started off in a full on blizzard in Glencoe and I didn't even get the camera out at sunrise as you couldn't see a thing, driving was hazardous to say the least as well as just narrowly missed an oncoming lorry on the A82 which had swerved onto my side of the road to avoid a large ice deposit off a previous lorry right into my path, luckily it missed me.
Headed out again after breakfast through it once again and decided to head South towards Taynuilt and Oban, once out of the snow it just didn't stop raining, all day apart from a few moments at Kilchurn Castle on Loch Awe where I managed a few shots. After spending the afternoon in Oban I decided to scout out the best vantage point for Castle Stalker for a better day as the advertised viewpoint is really poor in my view, once I found my spot the rain was easing off but the weather was still pretty poor with low cloud, and hardly any light apart from a promising tiny patch
over towards Mull, with nothing spoiling I decided to just wait here on the offchance of a break.
about 40 minutes it really picked up and I was rewarded with what turned out to be a phenomenal sunset, this image was just the start of it before the sun had fully dropped under the large bank of cloud at the top of the frame, the light was just sublime, there is no way you could have envisaged this sunset at the start of the day or even an hour before, just goes to show you really cannot predict the changes in the weather up here off sight alone, I'll post a few more of these images in the coming weeks as they are quite different, the afterglow after sundow was a stunner as well with some great pinks and purples kicking off over the loch. Spent about 2.5 hours here and loved every minute of it, only realised how cold I was once I'd got back to the car!
Life is sweet, especially if you're a Monarch Butterfly enjoying the sweet nectar that comes from these flowers. The Lantana is known to attract butterflies of all kinds, due to it's sweet smelling flowers and nectar.
This is a pretty Swamp Oak Tree (Quercus bicolor) with acorns. Nature provides beauty and sustenance for most animals. The acorns here provide food for squirrels, birds, and sometimes humans. This tree does not produce acorns until it is 20-30 years old. In the top right of the tree, a bird that I could not identify feels right at home.

The Neckarfront is probably the most photographed town in Tuebingen. The ensemble of multi-storey, gabled houses stretching from the Eberhardsbrücke neckar upwards until characteristic Hölderlinturm with the landing of the punts. With this, the southern side of the houses sit on the still existing in parts of the city wall.
The overall picture is one of the Neckarfront superior tower of the collegiate church.

There is a big sandy beach at Tenby so we had a wander when the tide was out. As it was so cold and windy there was nobody on the beach which is pretty rare I guess for such a popular place. Best viewed in Lightbox.
There is some speculation as to why these former Go North East Mercedes are arriving at Go North West Manchester before refurb at Thorntons but for whatever reason a third arrived today in the shape of NK08MZV and I believe others are due shortly, repainted or not is the question for those. One thought is that they may arrive as they are to speed up the replacement of the remaining B7’s and will enter service minus the Crusader branding and with the appropriate Go North West vinyl’s, time will tell on that theory.
Hjálparfoss is one of several waterfalls in the south of Iceland situated in the lava fields north of the stratovolcano Hekla near the point where the rivers Fossá and Þjórsá join. Hjálparfoss is located about 30 kilometres (19 mi) east of the village Flúðir and can be reached by a gravel road off Route 32 that winds through the Vikrar lava fields. About 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) south of Hjálparfoss lies Þjófafoss; further east are Háifoss on the Fossá and Tangafoss on the Þjórsá.
As is tradition when the first major winter storm of the season lines up for the midwest, here's a groin-grabbingly cold shot from the archives.
A GP40 and Jordan Spreader work west as a ground blizzard (where snow already on the ground blows around and causes trouble) in north-central Iowa begins to subside; strong northerly winds shut down the roads and railroads alike - the interstates opened just in time that morning for me to make the trek down from the Twin Cities.
The evening is coming slowly... Taken in Rogoznica, Croatia :)
Rogoznica is a quiet Mediterranean town on the Dalmatian coast in Croatia, whose center lies on a peninsula that is the former island of Koper, connected to the mainland by an artificial mound in the second half of the nineteenth century. Most of the island is covered with forests while the populated area is characterized by old stone houses reflecting the spirit of the old Mediterranean. The town is known as one of the most beautiful and safest ports, which is why boaters like to visit. The locals engage in farming, fishing and tourism. Rogoznica is known for its long and gorgeous pebble, concrete and stone beaches. Rogoznica is also well known among yachting enthusiasts as one of the most beautiful and safest ports. There is a thick pinewood and a beautiful long promenade.
Rogoznica słynie przede wszystkim z pięknych plaż żwirkowo - skalistych (kamienie, otoczaki), krystalicznie niebieskiego morza, grubych drzew piniowych i uroczych promenad wzdłuż brzegu. Rogoznica przyciąga swoją niezwykłą atmosferą i kameralnością. Otoczona lasami piniowymi zaprasza ludzi lubiących bliski kontakt z naturą.
The Wright Brothers Monument sitting atop Big Kill Devil Hill is a testament to the towering achievements of Wilbur and Orville Wright who did what no one before them could manage: manned, powered, controlled, heavier-than-air flight. To commemorate such an outstanding accomplishment a monument was erected at the site of their gliding experiments. This granite structure was designed by Alfred Easton Poor and Robert Perry Rodgers in 1928, 25 years after the first flight. Their architectural firm, Rodgers & Poor, won a contest to decide who would design the monument. Poor, who served as a pilot in the Navy in both World War I and World War II, was an already established architect with degrees from both Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania. He also had the distinction of being the president of the National Design Center for 10 years. Rodgers, who also served in the Navy during World War I, received a degree from Harvard University as well as receiving a diploma from the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris.
The design of the monument features an Art Deco style which highlights bold geometric shapes. A notable part of the monument is the inscription that reads, “In commemoration of the conquest of the air by the brothers Wilbur and Orville Wright. Conceived by genius. Achieved by dauntless resolution and unconquerable faith.” The monument also features curved, wing-like designs on either side and a lit beacon at the top which functions similarly to a lighthouse. Prior to construction of the memorial’s Mission 66 era visitor center and museum, the inside of the monument acted as a contact station. Visitors could even ascend the very narrow stairs to the top and peer out 150 feet above sea level towards where the Wright brothers flew four flights on December 17th, 1903.
Construction of the monument itself was started in 1928 with Orville Wright in attendance at the laying of the cornerstone. A local organization called the Kill Devil Hills Memorial Association (now the First Flight Society) led the efforts to protect and preserve the site, eventually gaining national support. The monument was proposed by Representative Lindsay Warren of North Carolina and Senator Hiram Bingham of Connecticut, who set out to convince President Coolidge and Congress of the importance of building the monument. Ultimately the funds were secured, and the “Kill Devil Hills Monument National Memorial” was established and managed by the War Department. To ensure that the monument wouldn’t be susceptible to sand erosion, Big Kill Devil Hill was sodded, and shrubs and other grasses were planted to stabilize it. Construction of the first bridges to the Outer Banks also started during this time in an effort to extend better access to the islands and to the memorial itself. In 1933 control of the monument was given to the National Park Service, and in 1953 it was officially renamed “Wright Brothers National Memorial.” The Memorial was dedicated on November 19th, 1932 with Orville again in attendance as well as prominent aviators and politicians of the time.Today the monument continues to sit atop big Kill Devil Hills and reigns over it as one of the highest points in the Outer Banks while continuing to honor the legacy of two brothers.

Taizō-in (退蔵院?) is the oldest sub-temple (tatchū (塔頭?)) of the Myōshin-ji Rinzai Zen Buddhist temple, situated in the northwest of Kyoto, Japan. It was founded by Zen priest Muinsoin in 1404. The original temple buildings were burned during the Ōnin War (1467-1477), and were later rebuilt.
Taizō-in is well known for its two gardens. The main garden, Motonobu-no-niwa, is a traditional Japanese dry landscape garden (karesansui), containing several angular rocks suggesting the cliffs of the island of Hōrai, with smaller stones suggesting a stream. The planting is mostly evergreen, including camellia, pine, and Japanese umbrella pine. It covers 50 tsubo (170 m²) and was designed to integrate a borrowing of scenery ("shakkei") of a view of Narabigaoka Hill in the distance. It is thought to be the final work of Muromachi painter Kanō Motonobu (狩野 元信), reproducing one of his paintings in three dimensions.
A new pond garden, or yoko-en, was designed by Kinsaku Nakane in 1963-1966. The new garden is large enough for visitors to walk in, and contains azaleas and a stream that cascades along the main axis, directly toward the main viewing position. The stream flows around rocks, gradually widening until it empties into a pool in front of the viewer. (Wikipedia)

We've only gone and adopted a dog!! This is Harbie - we collected him today from kennels just north of London. He is around 2 years old and has just been brought over from Bosnia. Here is the write up - you'll see why he appealed.
About Harbie
Harbie was found on the streets as a stray and taken by the local dog catchers to a public shelter, where he was later rescued by our partners in Bosnia. He is now residing in a private shelter with volunteers that we know and trust, whilst he waits for his forever family to find him.
Harbie is a beautiful dog with a nature to match. Although we don’t know anything about his background, he is trusting, friendly and good tempered with people. He has a forgiving and loyal nature, and he enjoys being in the company of humans despite whatever trauma he may have suffered in his past. Harbie gets so excited when the volunteers come to meet the dogs and walk them at the weekends as he knows it’s an opportunity for him to be fussed over. He greets everyone with excited licks and a wagging tail, and he also enjoys the company of children. We would suggest he would do well in a home with children aged 5+.
Harbie is friendly with all the other dogs in his shelter and loves being able to play with them. He has no issues when it comes to interacting with anyone, and we’re yet to come across another dog who doesn’t like him. His gentle nature makes him a great mixer in the shelter and he socialises happily with both male and female dogs of all shapes and sizes. We have conducted a cat test, in which he was well behaved and gentle. He could live with confident cat, as long as the adopter is confident nurturing that relationship and aware that it might take time to work.
More photos from our first day coming soon!
This is a photo from fall, that i've worked a little PS magic on to make it a little more Wintery:) Plus i am heading to Howell next month to see this beauty again, and i cannot wait!!
Merry Christmas to you all:)
The Skógafoss is one of the biggest waterfalls in Iceland with a width of 25 metres (82 feet) and a drop of 60 m (200 ft).
Due to the amount of spray the waterfall consistently produces, a single or double rainbow is normally visible on sunny days but I was lucky enough to see one at night, along with the northern lights
According to legend, the first Viking settler in the area, Þrasi Þórólfsson, buried a treasure in a cave behind the waterfall. The legend continues that locals found the chest years later, but were only able to grasp the ring on the side of the chest before it disappeared again. The ring was allegedly given to the local church. The old church door ring is now in a museum, though whether it gives any credence to the folklore is debatable, but its a great story nonetheless.

Ya I know.. random title, but this shouldn't come as a surprise as we are expecting 10 cm of snow on Wednesday. If that does happen, get ready for all the cries and complaints from people because seems like most people forget that it snows well into the second week of April.
Sorry if that sounded bitter, but I'm just tired of hearing about this over and over again.

This is the oldest Wesleyan Chapel that has been in continuous use since being built. Wesley preached here and it is a remarkable example of Non conformist architecture. He recommended the octagonal shape to avoid conflict with the established church. The chapel was later expanded so becoming an elongated octagon. On the right is the Church Hall built about 100 years after the Chapel.
