Santi Bartolomeo e Gaetano is a Renaissance style, Roman Catholic church in central Bologna; it is located near the Two Towers, adjacent to the Strada Maggiore.

A church at the site dedicated to St Bartholemew had existed since the 5th century; it was likely built atop an even older church and housed Benedictine monks till the 16th century. The church was designed by Giovanni Battista Falcetti with elaboration by Agostino Barelli, and owes the awkward facade due to its construction in 1517 at the site of a palace begun by Andrea da Formigine, commissioned by a member of the Gozzadini. The project, which is seen in the single-story portico along the exterior, was interrupted after the death of the patron, soon after completion of what became the side portico.

----------------------------- JESUS ✝️ SAVES-------------------------------

SALVATION THROUGH FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST - ALONE!

12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."

❤️❤️ IT'S ALL JESUS AND NONE OF OURSELVES! ❤️❤️

16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the SALVATION of everyone WHO BELIEVES: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel a RIGHTEOUSNESS FROM GOD IS REVEALED, a righteousness that is by FAITH FROM FIRST TO LAST, just as it is written: "THE RIGHTEOUS WILL LIVE BY FAITH." (Romans 1:16-17)

16 KNOW that a man is NOT justified by observing the law, but by FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be JUSTIFIED BY FAITH in CHRIST and NOT by observing the law, BECAUSE BY OBSERVING THE LAW NO ONE WILL BE JUSTIFIED. (Galatians 2:16)

1. Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2. BY THIS GOSPEL YOU ARE SAVED, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.

3. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4. that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5. and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. 6. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8. and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.

9. For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them--yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 11. Whether, then, it was I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed. (1 Corinthians 15:1-11)

7. Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. 8. All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9. I am the gate; whoever enters through me WILL BE SAVED. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10. The thief comes only to STEAL and KILL and DESTROY; I have come that they may have LIFE, and have it to the FULL. (John 10:7-10)

1 Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. 2 For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. 3 Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. 4 Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.

5 Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: "The man who does these things will live by them." 6 But the righteousness that is by faith says: "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?'" (that is, to bring Christ down) 7 "or 'Who will descend into the deep?'" (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:1-13)

Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!

So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

Unafraid because His armor is the best

But even soldiers need a quiet place to rest,

People say that I'm amazing, I never face retreat

But they don't see the enemies that lay me at His feet.

15 Dec 14. Although WH was ill for a long time, I find it hard to believe that he's really gone. The seasonal changes to Edinburgh add to my feeling that life has become very strange.

And I swerve out of control

If i, if I’d only waited

I’d not be stuck here in this hole

Come here my star is fading

And I swerve out of control

And I swear I waited and waited

I’ve got to get out of this hole

PS. Thanks to anyone who's ever done a Mason Jar shot before. This was probably inspired by you.

This is the new avatar I've been playing with. This doesn't reflect my appearance in RL in any way, but I wanted to try doing it. I'm also having fun with a completely new appearance for the time being. This is also my first experiment with the photoball I made today.

The Tower is an iconic landmark on top of the beautiful Cotswolds escarpment. It was the brainchild of the great 18th century landscape designer, “Capability Brown”. His vision was carried out for George William 6th Earl of Coventry with the help of renowned architect James Wyatt and completed in 1798 on Beacon Hill.

This is the way most of my mornings start.

Larry has gotten up long before me and headed off to work.

When I open my eyes, there's Leo, just waiting for me to get up, so that I can open up the cat flap so he can go out and start his day.

If I lay there too long, he will start "talking", and lightly tapping me on the arm or face.

Photography is an unique way of art. This picture reminds me of the beauty around us, which is somehow lost as we grow up. Sometimes we see it through a tiny window of the camera called a viewfinder. Once you see it, you just cannot unsee it. It changes you.

Erigeron annuus is a herbaceous plant with alternate, simple leaves, and green, sparsely hairy stems, which can grow to between 30 and 150 centimeters (about 1 to 5 feet) in height. Leaves are numerous and large relative to other species of Erigeron, with lower leaves, especially basal leaves, coarsely toothed or cleft, a characteristic readily distinguishing this species from most other Erigeron. Upper leaves are sometimes (not always) toothed, but may have a few coarse teeth towards the outer tips.

The flower heads are white with yellow centers, with rays that are white to pale lavender, borne spring through fall depending on the individual plant. Ray florets number 40-100.

Aberdeenshire (Scottish Gaelic: Siorrachd Obar Dheathain) is one of the 32 council areas of Scotland. It takes its name from the old County of Aberdeen which had substantially different boundaries. Modern Aberdeenshire includes all of what was once Kincardineshire, as well as part of Banffshire. The old boundaries are still officially used for a few purposes, namely land registration and lieutenancy. Aberdeenshire Council is headquartered at Woodhill House, in Aberdeen, making it the only Scottish council whose headquarters are located outside its jurisdiction. Aberdeen itself forms a different council area (Aberdeen City). Aberdeenshire borders onto Angus and Perth and Kinross to the south, Highland and Moray to the west and Aberdeen City to the east. Traditionally, it has been economically dependent upon the primary sector (agriculture, fishing, and forestry) and related processing industries. Over the last 40 years, the development of the oil and gas industry and associated service sector has broadened Aberdeenshire's economic base, and contributed to a rapid population growth of some 50% since 1975. Its land represents 8% of Scotland's overall territory. It covers an area of 6,313 square kilometres

Ooh exciting news today.. I purchased my first ever dSLR!!! I bought a Canon 450d. I was tempted to go for a more high end camera but I'm still an amateur and I think it's probably a good idea to get familiar with the type of photography I want to pursue by such a versatile camera.. and then I can always upgrade! Plus it felt pretty good in my hands :D

Now would anyone have any advice for a decent lens?

Today was just one of those days that I am happy to put past me. It all began when my Mum tackled me first thing in the morning with the "what do you want to do with your life?" questions and the day went pretty much downhill from there..

I came across this awesome song and just have to share : )

At the San Francisco Zoo.

This shot is of a soapbubble. We could have the impression it's a planet or exo-planet. Science can observe those planets at a very far distance, several lighyears away. They could contain life or could have contained life. The distance with their sun should be perfect, so that water is available in its 3 fases: liquid, gas and ice. The image title is also the name of a real exo-planet.

Esso chiude la Valle d'Ampezzo a nord (assieme all'antistante monte Pomagagnon), dividendola dalle valli circostanti.

This is a full view of the Hoover Dam with the hydro-electric station at the bottom and a small part of the Lake Mead reservoir behind. The dam is a short drive from Las Vegas, Nevada and is the main source of power for that city. You can clearly see the white ring around Lake Mead which indicates the normal water level. At the time this was shot, the water level was 30 or 40 ft. below normal due to years of persistent drought in the Rocky Mountains that feed the Colorado River.

From Wikipedia—

Hoover Dam is a concrete arch-gravity dam in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River, on the border between the U.S. states of Nevada and Arizona. It was constructed between 1931 and 1936 during the Great Depression and was dedicated on September 30, 1935, by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Its construction was the result of a massive effort involving thousands of workers, and cost over one hundred lives. Originally known as Boulder Dam from 1933, it was officially renamed Hoover Dam for President Herbert Hoover by a joint resolution of Congress in 1947.

The height of the dam is 726.4 ft (221.4 m) and the length is 1,244 ft (379 m). A total of 3,250,000 cubic yards (2,480,000 cubic metres) of concrete was used in the dam before concrete pouring ceased on May 29, 1935. Core samples taken in 1995 showed that the concrete has continued to cure and harden.

Since about 1900, the Black Canyon and nearby Boulder Canyon had been investigated for their potential to support a dam that would control floods, provide irrigation water and produce hydroelectric power. In 1928, Congress authorized the project. The winning bid to build the dam was submitted by a consortium called Six Companies, Inc., which began construction of the dam in early 1931. Such a large concrete structure had never been built before, and some of the techniques were unproven. The torrid summer weather and lack of facilities near the site also presented difficulties. Nevertheless, Six Companies turned the dam over to the federal government on March 1, 1936, more than two years ahead of schedule.

Hoover Dam impounds Lake Mead, the largest reservoir in the United States by volume (when it is full). The dam is located near Boulder City, Nevada, a municipality originally constructed for workers on the construction project, about 30 mi (48 km) southeast of Las Vegas, Nevada. The dam's generators provide power for public and private utilities in Nevada, Arizona, and California. Hoover Dam is a major tourist attraction; nearly a million people tour the dam each year. The heavily traveled U.S. Route 93 (US 93) ran along the dam's crest until October 2010, when the Hoover Dam Bypass opened. I took this shot from the bypass bridge.

Duck is the common name for numerous species of waterfowl in the family Anatidae. Ducks are generally smaller and shorter-necked than swans and geese, which are members of the same family. Divided among several subfamilies, they are a form taxon; they do not represent a monophyletic group (the group of all descendants of a single common ancestral species), since swans and geese are not considered ducks. Ducks are mostly aquatic birds, and may be found in both fresh water and sea water.

Antofagasta, a port city in northern Chile, is featured in this image captured by the Copernicus Sentinel-2 mission.

Located around 1000 km north of Santiago, Antofagasta is the capital of both the Antofagasta Province and Region. The Antofagasta province borders the El Loa and Tocopilla provinces to the north and the Pacific Ocean to the west.

The city stretches approximately 22 km along the coast, snuggled between the ocean and the arid mountains to the east. The largest city in northern Chile, Antofagasta has a population of around 400 000 people. The city’s early growth resulted from the discovery of nitrate deposits in 1866, while today the economy is mainly based on the exploitation of various minerals such as copper and sulphur.

In the right of the image, large, emerald green geometric shapes are visible and are most likely evaporation ponds used in mining operations. These bright colours are in stark contrast with the surrounding desert landscape, which is largely devoid of vegetation, making them easily identifiable from space.

The city of Antofagasta is also a communications centre on the Pan-American Highway, visible as distinctive black lines in the right of the image, and is also linked by rail to the mines, as well as Bolivia and Argentina.

Antofagasta is located within the Atacama Desert which is considered one of the driest places on Earth, as there are some parts of the desert where rainfall has never been recorded. Antofagasta typically has a cold desert climate with abundant sunshine, with January being its warmest month.

This image, captured on 6 January 2021, shows little cloud cover over the city and surrounding area but strong westerly winds have created distinct wave patterns over the ocean – visible all the way from space.

This image was captured by the Copernicus Sentinel-2 mission – a two-satellite mission to supply the coverage and data delivery needed for Europe’s Copernicus programme. Each satellite carries a high-resolution camera that images Earth’s surface in 13 spectral bands. Data from Sentinel-2 can help support ocean applications, monitor changes in urban expansion, land-cover change and agriculture monitoring.

This image is also featured on the Earth from Space video programme.

This is a train of closely-spaced Starlink satellites moving to the east over the moonlit landscape of Dinosaur Provincial Park, Alberta.

This was on May 15, 2021 at 11:38 p.m. MDT. This group of satellites had been launched from Cape Canaveral earlier that day, at 4:56 p.m. MDT, so less than 7 hours earlier. They were very bright, as shown here, and they appeared as a line or streak in the sky, much as seen here, though the 15-second exposure has turned the array into an even longer streak. It was a remarkable sight, to see a satellite (or satellites in this case) appear not as a star but as a line. To the eye, you could not see them resolved into dots. They are here moving through Lyra below the star Vega.

This launch included 52 Starlinks and two other "piggybacked" satellites: the Capella radar satellite, and the NOAA Tyvak-0130 remote sensing satellite. This was the 28th Starlink launch, but is called Starlink 27.

This is a single 15-second exposure at ISO 3200 with the Canon R6 and 24mm Sigma Art lens adapted to the R6 and at f/2. Light from the setting waxing crescent Moon provided the illumination. High haze added the star glows.

Since 1618 there is in Tripkau a church building. In 1757 it became by a simple hall construction without tower he-puts, and this timber-framed building also forms even today in the original substance the nave which was extended in 1864 by choir, sacristy and tower.

Only the loft is received from the old equipment from the 18th century; pulpit, font and altar have remained from the gothic equipment of the 19th century; the organ comes from 18.th century, has been put up only late in this church.

The church was renovated basically and initiated in 1998 again. The interior is from numerous cross motives passed through which are unique in the hannoverschen county church.

In 1952 a restricted area was furnished along the internal border. At this time compulsive forced migrations from the Elbvillages took place: code name "Vermin" and "Cornflower" by the order of the "Ministerium für Staatssicherheit (STASI). 21 villages were concerned by it in which the houses were torn off and were levelled which courts. My father was resettled at the age of 10 years and his family compulsory. My grandfather lost all his possessions.

The shot is taken in Isfahan when passing Aligholi Agha Bazar, what attracted me to him was that he was asking one of his friends to count his cash money, as I understood by their talks this was his everyday story.

I stayed over there by him to follow the story and find out what's going on, can't imagine ALL his property was 362 Rls=3.95 cents which he insisted to check it everyday!!!

When leaving him I was thinking about my plans to buy a full frame DSLR camera and few lenses which will cost me over 10000 US $.........how deep the gap is!!

From ancient times to the present, philosophers have repeatedly emphasized the importance of living a frugal or minimalist life. The ancient Greek philosopher Diogenes said, “True wealth is not in increasing possessions, but in reducing one’s needs.” Mahatma Gandhi pointed to the destructive side of human greed, stating, “The Earth has enough for everyone’s needs, but not enough for everyone’s greed.” From the Buddha to Karl Marx, across the passage of time, many have expressed similar ideas. This minimalist concept in philosophy has greatly influenced the photographer, and its mark is clearly visible in his vision and framing.

The absence of color or the use of minimal composition in framing reflects the photographer’s inclination toward a minimalist approach. The fog, wrapped like a thick winter blanket, creates a serene atmosphere. In this calm and pure dramatic setting, human presence becomes secondary. Before nature, even humanity’s vast achievements become insignificant. That is why the photographer has kept humans and their architectural achievements in the background, framing the scene in a minimalist style. Here, nature is the primary subject—not humans or their constructions.

According to nihilism, or the philosophy of pessimism, human life does not has inherent purpose. Evolutionary theory has shown that humans are an unintended outcome of nature’s evolutionary process. Yet human beings, regarded as the finest of creations, continue to exploit all their knowledge and effort into seeking meaning in life. They establish ever-greater architectural structures upon the heart of nature. In proving their superiority, they seem to challenge nature itself. Viewing nature as an adversary, humanity gradually distances itself further and further from it.

Hamilton Gardens is a terrific place to visit is with its feature of many different types of intriguing and unique garden designs. Brilliant. There's this pond connecting some of the gardens. When passing I couldn't help noticing the strong and profound reflections created by the surrounding planting. It was a calm day so hardly any wind movements in the water. Not easy to find an intersting angel to shoot from (not made easier by the many people visiting that day) but I like the drama of the clouds. Nice quiet moment of exploring.

Texture is my own

This is a photo of mine that I took of a bed of tulips and which has been styled after Georgia O'Keeffe using Google's free tool called Deep Dream. In this case I used the Deep Style option and loaded the original as the photo and a photo off the web of an O'Keeffe painting of petunias. Lots of fun. Give it a try and see what you think.

There is a saying that the best camera is the one you have with you at the time. In this case it was my phone.

You may notice that this green iguana is not in fact green! She came to The Living Rainforest after being a pet for a number of years. It is common in the pet trade to selectively breed individuals with more desirable traits, and artificially create different colour morphs. This can cause issues within the captive population of the species, as it often involves in-breeding.

The green iguana (Iguana iguana), also known as the American iguana or the common green iguana, is a large, arboreal, mostly herbivorous species of lizard of the genus Iguana. Usually, this animal is simply called the iguana. The green iguana ranges over a large geographic area; it is native from southern Brazil and Paraguay as far north as Mexico, and has been introduced from South America to Puerto Rico and is very common throughout the island, where it is colloquially known as gallina de palo ("bamboo chicken" or "chicken of the tree") and considered an invasive species; in the United States, feral populations also exist in South Florida (including the Florida Keys), Hawaii, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. Green iguanas have also successfully colonised the island of Anguilla, arriving on the island in 1995 after rafting across the Caribbean from Guadeloupe, where they were introduced.

A herbivore, it has adapted significantly with regard to locomotion and osmoregulation (the maintenance of constant osmotic pressure in the fluids of an organism by the control of water and salt concentrations) as a result of its diet. It grows to 1.5 m in length from head to tail, although a few specimens have grown more than 2 m with bodyweights upward of 9.1 kg.

This animal is a resident of The Living Rainforest which is an indoor greenhouse tropical rainforest that is located in Hampstead Norreys in Berkshire, England.
