What fascinated me about this boat ramp was this brick like structure creating such a fantastic texture in the foreground.

This is my my favourite garden for many reasons. Firstly I have may happy memories of it. The garden is arranged in four separate areas. Main lawn and patio, Lower lawn, greenhouse and apple trees. The third section in the front and parking area flanked with borders. The last area is gravelled and contains the shed. There are around 200ft of beech hedge including the 100ft section along the main road which is formally cut. The garden has a wide range of plants, trees and shrubs. My parents have created this garden from nothing, it has taken them over thirty years. I have been granted permission to photograph their garden this year and use the photographs on Flickr, mostly because their house is for sale and will appear on the Holters (www.holters.co.uk) website soon in the LD2 area.

This is one of those trippy lights with optical fibre on top of a small lamp, which changes colours. The effect is thanks to the ceilling fan.

My late Purple entry for Saturday ! :-)))

This is a shot of the amazing baroque architecture of Dresden in Germany. A rare view of the sun setting behind the sinister looking silhouette of the cathedral in the centre of the city.

Very busy yesterday and today but I will catch up with all streams later. Thanks a million times for your visits !!! Have a good Saturday I'm off for a trip down the Thames ! :-))

Ta Prohm (pronunciation: prasat taprohm) is the modern name of the temple at Angkor, Siem Reap Province, Cambodia, built in the Bayon style largely in the late 12th and early 13th centuries and originally called Rajavihara (in Khmer: រាជវិហារ). Located approximately one kilometre east of Angkor Thom and on the southern edge of the East Baray, it was founded by the Khmer King Jayavarman VII:125]:388 as a Mahayana Buddhist monastery and university.

Unlike most Angkorian temples, Ta Prohm is in much the same condition in which it was found: the photogenic and atmospheric combination of trees growing out of the ruins and the jungle surroundings have made it one of Angkor's most popular temples with visitors. UNESCO inscribed Ta Prohm on the World Heritage List in 1992. Today, it is one of the most visited complexes in Cambodia’s Angkor region. The conservation and restoration of Ta Prohm is a partnership project of the Archaeological Survey of India and the APSARA (Authority for the Protection and Management of Angkor and the Region of Siem Reap).

The Qutb Minar is a minaret that forms a part of the Qutb complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Mehrauli area of Delhi, India. Qutb Minar is a 73-metre tall tapering tower of five storeys, with a 14.3 metres base diameter, reducing to 2.7 metres at the peak. It contains a spiral staircase of 379 steps.

Qutab Ud-Din-Aibak, founder of the Delhi Sultanate, started construction of the Qutub Minar's first storey around 1192. In 1220, Aibak's successor and son-in-law Iltutmish completed a further three storeys. In 1369, a lightning strike destroyed the top storey. Firoz Shah Tughlaq replaced the damaged storey, and added one more.

Mt. Rainier, an active volcano, is the highest peak in the Cascade Range at 14,411 feet.

With the recent discussion around the renaming of Mt. McKinley to its original name Denali, the topic of potentially renaming other mountains has come up. The local Puyallup Tribe refers to Mt. Rainier as Mt. Tahoma.

This is possibly the first idea I had to use the Lowell Sphere design on when I first created it about ten years ago. It took me until last year to actually get started on it, and it's been sitting around since then waiting to be published.

There is something to be said about trainwatching at sunrise. The rising sun brings the rails, and the communities it touches, to life. In a word, it's magical.

The sun slowly rises over the small Central Valley community of Escalon, CA. Faint rays of the rising sun slowly starts to counteract the cool, crisp morning air. In the long siding at Escalon, a westbound BNSF manifest slumbers in the siding. The rising sun illuminates the side of the train. Thanks to earlier rainstorms. large puddles occupy drainage ditches adjacent to the rails. One puddle brilliantly reflects the slumbering train.

When all of the elements come together, being trackside at dawn can be magical. More incentive to set that alarm for that early hour.

HE IS RISEN FRIENDS ...

He was born as a baby,

He died, to save mankind, from a debt, we could not pay ...

He arose on that third and appointed day ....

And Some day is HE is coming back ...

56 Leonard Street is an 821-foot-tall (250 m), 57-story[1] skyscraper on Leonard Street in the neighborhood of Tribeca in Manhattan, New York City, United States. The building was designed by the Swiss architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron, which describes the building as "houses stacked in the sky."[2] It is the tallest structure in Tribeca.[3]

The building has 145 condominium residences priced between US$3.5 million and US$50 million. Residences range in size from 1,418 to 6,400 square feet (131.7 to 594.6 m2) and include 2 to 5 bedrooms all with private outdoor spaces.

In June 2013, a penthouse at 56 Leonard went into contract for US$47 million, making it the most expensive residential property ever sold below Midtown Manhattan.[3] The building was completed in 2017, and is informally referred to as the "Jenga Building".[6]

I'm always interested in architecture. :-))

I am sure the two at the picnic table were telling the one on the umbrella to get is' ass off before the umbrella got broken. I will have to have Mike take a look at it to make sure it can be fixed as it seems a bit wobbly now - likely from the "weight" of the grackle.

Light is born every day and dies every day, no matter what if you’re capturing it at the earlier or the latter moment, both circumstances brings you something new.

This time i’ve chosen to look at it from this high and dominating spot: the birth was happening and it is something you could observe every morning but this one will stay crystallised in that moment forever, carved into my mind, astonished in front of this beauty that is born every day, again and again, persistently, yet unrepeatable.

Aloe vera is a succulent plant species of the genus Aloe. An evergreen perennial, it originates from the Arabian Peninsula but grows wild in tropical climates around the world and is cultivated for agricultural and medicinal uses.

Aloe Vera has been used for thousands of years to treat a multitude of conditions, both externally and internally. The earliest reference to its use dates back to an ancient Egyptian papyrus of herbal medicine from the 16th century BC, and this is thought to be a copy of earlier records. The aloe vera plant grows naturally in many areas of the world. It has been widely cultivated worldwide, especially since the Second World War, when it was found to reduce the effects of nuclear radiation. Today it is found in a multitude of products, including beauty, personal care and health products. Whether you have a skin ailment, a digestive upset or simply want improved health, aloe vera can help you.

Potsdam is the capital of Brandenburg in Germany, and always my favorite place when I stay in or at Berlin. This time with only a few visitors in the parc, how amazing!

A continuous Hohenzollern possession since 1415, Potsdam became prominent, when it was chosen in 1660 as the hunting residence of Frederick William I, Elector of Brandenburg, the core of the powerful state that later became the Kingdom of Prussia. It also housed Prussian barracks.

Voltaire at the residence of Frederick II in Potsdam.

After the Edict of Potsdam in 1685, Potsdam became a centre of European immigration. Its religious freedom attracted people from France (Huguenots), Russia, the Netherlands and Bohemia. The edict accelerated population growth and economic recovery.

Later, the city became a full residence of the Prussian royal family. The buildings of the royal residences were built mainly during the reign of Frederick the Great. One of these is the Sanssouci Palace (French: "without cares" or "no concern", by Georg Wenzeslaus von Knobelsdorff, 1744), famed for its formal gardens and Rococo interiors. Other royal residences include the New Palace and the Orangery.

The black-headed heron is a large bird, standing 85 cm tall, and it has a 150 cm wingspan. It is nearly as large as the grey heron, which it resembles in appearance, although it is generally darker. Its plumage is largely grey above, and paler grey below. It has a powerful dusky bill.

The flight is slow, with the neck retracted. This is characteristic of herons and bitterns, and distinguishes them from storks, cranes, and spoonbills, which extend their necks. The white underwing coverts are striking in flight.

The call is a loud croaking.

Râmeț Monastery is one of the oldest monastic establishments in Transylvania. In the small church it is known that the third layer of frescoes on the interior walls was painted by Mihu from Crișul Alb in 1377. This element makes the place one of the few Romanian stone churches dating, perhaps, from the 13th century.

After the troubled period of the second half of the 18th century, marked by confessional struggles between the Romanians, the church was destroyed in 1785, then rebuilt in 1792. The monastery reopened in 1940, and in 1955 the synod decided to transform it into convent. In 1959 it was abolished by the Communists, but the nuns returned in 1962.

Later, Bishop Emilian Birdaş of Alba-Iulia rehabilitated the old church, and had a new church built next to it between 1982 and 1986. Dedicated to the holy apostles Peter and Paul, it is also called the Cathedral of the Apuseni Mountains.

This is a panoramic drone photo of a haboob as it passed over the Franklin Mountains in El Paso, Texas. This haboob was generated by severe storms more than 100 miles to our east and it hit us with no warning. I just happened to spot it as it began to pour over the mountains and I was able to quickly get my drone airborne to capture the scene. We were blanketed by this dust cloud just a few minutes later.

Protea is both the botanical name and the English common name of a genus of South African flowering plants, sometimes also called sugarbushes or fynbos. In local tradition, the protea flower represents change and hope. The extraordinary richness and diversity of species characteristic of the Cape flora are thought to be caused in part by the diverse landscape, where populations can become isolated from each other and in time develop into separate species. The main vectors responsible for the transfer of pollen in protea cultivation are birds, insects, and wind. Some Protea species exhibit both self-pollination and cross-pollination as a method of reproduction. Cross-pollination is preferred, though, as a method of reproduction because it provides genetic diversity in the population. When cultivating proteas, breeders use hand pollination as a controlled method to transfer pollen from one flower to another. Proteas usually flower during spring. The general structure of their flower heads consists of a mass of flowers on a woody receptacle. The ovary is protected by the receptacle, thus is not seen when looking at the flower, but the anthers are present at the top of the flower, which can then easily transfer the pollen to the vectors. 17529

513353 is a London Midland and Scottish Railway designed 12 ton unfitted Ventilated Goods Van, built at Wolverton Works in 1940 (Lot 1273), to diagram D2039 and is seen here in the yard at Swanwich, Midland Railway Centre, 25th January 2009.

Hwy 149 is how you access this marvelous view, located between Lake City and Creede Colorado.

Looking to the WSW, South Clear creek runs as far as the eye can see into this valley. Down this valleyee one finds (more or less in order): Troutvale Reservoir, Brown Lakes, 3 separately named "Hermit" reservoirs, a Hermit Lake and in the far distance is Simpson Mtn (14 miles from the camera).

Were you to continue in the direction the camera is pointed past the Simpson mountain, a significant waypoint would be Shiprock NM. (SE of the 4 Corners area; a mere 111 miles further on.)

A team of international scientists has used NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope to detect a new carbon compound in space for the first time. Methyl cation (pronounced cat-eye-on) (CH3+), was detected in a young star system, with a protoplanetary disk, known as d203-506, which is located about 1,350 light-years away in the Orion Nebula.

Carbon compounds form the foundations of all known life, and as such are particularly interesting to scientists working to understand both how life developed on Earth, and how it could potentially develop elsewhere in our universe.
