A DREAM PANG

Robert Frost

I had withdrawn in forest, and my song

Was swallowed up in leaves that blew alway;

And to the forest edge you came one day

(This was my dream) and looked and pondered long,

But did not enter, though the wish was strong:

You shook your pensive head as who should say,

'I dare not - too far in his footsteps stray -

He must seek me would he undo the wrong.

Not far, but near, I stood and saw it all

Behind low boughs the trees let down outside;

And the sweet pang it cost me not to call

And tell you that I saw does still abide.

But 'tis not true that thus I dwelt aloof,

For the wood wakes, and you are here for proof.

Fungi spotted whilst out walking my dog. Didn't see them yesterday though!

When I got home last night these clouds caught my attention. Nothing necessarily special, but I liked the look of the clouds against the dark sky…

It’s a gorgeous county. Stunning scenery, and it appears to have so many interesting places to visit; it seems to have a castle on every corner too 😃.

We’ve really had a great time here, now we’re heading north for about 45 - 50 miles to the Scottish Borders for a week.

We’ll be sad to leave Northumberland.

Enjoying the beautiful crisp morning

Frank lives in Stacksteads, but across the valley from us. He’s a retired Painter & Decorator; we often have a chat when he and Sally come walking past our way. Sally is a collie, like Lassie.

I saw the beautiful sky whilst I was defrosting my wife’s car before she set off to work. I went to take the photo and Frank and Sally came by, so I captured them in this scene too.

Enjoy a lovely day!

Yorebridge waterfall , Garsdale a short walk from the road - route out towards Sedbergh. Could not get round the other bank on the right hand side, due to steep banks and boggy nature of the soil.

Location is walking distance from Goats & Oats - The Garsdale Luxury Bed & Breakfast, ( Where the A684 meets the B6259 road ) on the River Ure.

Each time I visit Norfolk it is interesting to see what is left of this boat. It even has its own group on Flickr !!

When the high tides come in more is washed away or rotted and this is what is left now as of the 15th March 2024.

It is an ideal subject for taking with an iPhone or smart phone, as the small sensor sizes give super depth of field.

At Eyemouth harbour

We bought some bits of fish to feed the seals in the harbour.

We only saw two. The one in the photograph which was just below us in the water as we peered over the edge of the harbour; the other one was a young male that was too shy to come close.

How lovely it was to see this seal.

Takes one back to the old days of trunks and suitcases before folks discovered holidays that you went on an aeroplane !! You went by train to the seaside of course, and not every household had four cars parked outside the home as we see nowadays.!!

This is in the kitchen / Cafe section of Sheringham Station, North Norfolk. The Luggage display there of the North Norfolk Railway also known as "The Poppy Line".

There is no rhyme or reason to this life. Yet we're constantly trying to make sense of things around us!

The model number escapes me (more than likely it’s a 700 series jet), but its departure is imminent. My days as an airline caterer are numbered, but I enjoyed my time here for over two years. Not many people can say that they’ve stepped foot on an airline taxiway, crossed a runway, had clearance to a Customs flight, cater jets from 717s to 3500s between the heights of 5-35-40 ft. above ground. My job is very high risk, it’s up there with the firefighters, linemen (utility workers, that is), even the Cirque du Soleil performers. Now granted, airline caterers do performer death defying stunts midair, but we do death defying work regardless. Working at the airport in itself is nothing to poke fun at. Long hours, decent pay, even better benefits, but it takes up a lot our time, and at 48 (speaking for myself), this job is for much younger folk. And I’ll leave it at that for now.

They’re free and always look awesome

Super Chill Personality German Shepherd Celebrity Kennedy Ponders His Place In The Universe On The Oceans of Time & Space At Apollo Beach On Tampa Bay Florida - IMRANā„¢

(My 121st Flickr Explore!)

My beautiful very alpha but super chill personality German Shepherd Dog,, Kennedy, often surprises me with how humanlike his personality traits and actions, and sometimes even inactions, are. On this gorgeous early morning on Tampa Bay, as I had just taken the dogs for another walk on the beach at my blessed Apollo Beach home neighborhood, he walked to the edge of the sand, and sat down. I quickly captured this magical moment. It shows his incredibly large almost-celebrity type personality and zen-like appreciation of nature.

Boats and yachts and suchlike!

We enjoyed a pleasant walk around the marina.

A bloke in a wheelchair called us over and offered to sketch us… we let him draw Patches, though she wasn’t for sitting still. It took about 30 minutes for a headshot of her for Ā£20.

We now have a drawn memory of our day in Whitehaven.

He was a former RSM in 2 Para, he told us; and had his foot blown off in Iraq.

On another note, it would be fun to spend some time at sea. On a yacht or similar, or a cruise liner.

To sail away for a day or two.

THE FLOWER BOAT

Robert Frost

The fisherman's swapping a yarn for a yarn

Under the hand of the village barber,

And her in the angle of house and barn

His deep-sea dory has found a harbor.

At anchor she rides the sunny sod

As full to the gunnel of flowers growing

As ever she turned her home with cod

From George's bank when winds were blowing.

And I judge from that elysian freight

That all they ask is rougher weather,

And dory and master will sail by fate

To seek the Happy Isles together.

Got my computer reconnected after a rehash of my man cave/work room. Downloaded the fungi images from the trip to Burnham Beeches yesterday. Hope folks can enjoy the texture and detail of this one, lit by an LED torch and shot from underneath. Burnham Beeches has some fungi and slime mould that are very rare, but this one is not, quite common I think.

A great night at the football

This photo was taken shortly after we scored… you can see the Burnley players walking back to our half, and the scoreboard says GOAL on it 😃

It was a fabulous goal by Jay Rodriguez, after great work by Wout Weghorst… beating two of their players and then delivering a sublime pass to Jay Rodriguez.

As you can see it was a wet evening, with the swirling rain… but a brilliant second half by the Clarets.

A great evening!!
