Weir Lake, on the eastern slope of Table Mountain in the Eastern Sierra range of California is really a small pool along the South Fork of Bishop Creek flowing from South Lake.
At roughly 9500' of elevation, this location is often snow covered by mid-Autumn, though at this time, there was little snow, and plenty of cover. It was nice to experience some colors of fall, having grown up on the East Coast where Autumn is much more vibrant and varied in its hues.
Congrats on Explore!

I just love the low winter light - especially that first touch of light highlighting the contours and surfaces on a pristine beach - until the dog walkers get their hands on it anyway :):)

Whither is fled the visionary gleam?
Where is it now, the glory and the dream?
This week I am going to post the same chrysanthemums in different poses to the accompaniment of Wordsworth's Ode on
INTIMATIONS OF IMMORTALITY FROM RECOLLECTIONS OF EARLY CHILDHOOD (1803-6)
A most beautiful poem full of quotes we all know. Somehow have heard. Have crept into common useage. I hope you like the series.

Last autumn, while visiting Mystic Seaport Tall ships museum in Connecticut, and strolling back at the end of the day, I saw this little stream and decided to walk up a bit and there was this house engulfed in light, vegetation and water, as I was carrying all my photography paraphernalia, before taking any picture, I just sat down and submerged myself in this bucolic intimate landscape. My mind rushed ages back to one day, with not much to do (very uncommon), while at Cambridge England, I took a pant up the river Cam and on a little stream there was this cottage, I rested for some while and painted the scene in my mind like a watercolor.
Back to present, I noticed that a couple photographers had followed me, and just sat to enjoy the scene, when the last rays started caressing the grass, we all rushed to take some photographs, and parted away with this mellow filing inside.
I have washed up some areas as to recreate the old picture in my mind.
Hoppe, you enjoy it.

I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the sweet earth’s flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

Conversation on balcony in the morning light in the Sestiere San Marco, Venice.
In winter there are times when the intimate ambience of Venice appears with the daily lives of their inhabitants. That what I really liked and tried to capture on our last trip to this city in February.

J.Saramago.
In the heart of the most secret mine,
Inside the most distant fruit,
In the vibration of the most discreet note,
In the spiral and resonant conch,
In the densest layer of paint,
In the vein that probes us the most in the body,
In the word that says softer,
In the root that goes lower, the more it hides,
In the deepest silence of this pause,
Where life became eternity,
I look for your hand and decipher the cause
Of wanting and not believing, final, intimacy

The color is starting to pop around here, though only in spots.
Catch up with everyone soon! It's my weekend with my son..yay!
It was frosty, this morning, a little mist on the water. I was out before the sun had risen far enough to touch its surface, and was failing to catch an heron or great white egret - the latter is hidden amongst the reeds out of the left side of this frame. As the sun rose, it lit upon these swans and gulls, while the mist still hung undisturbed about. When I looked at the frame afterwards, I became aware of how quietly intimate this combination of things had been.
Swans, Blenheim Park, Oxon. Pentax K-S1, Pentax Super Takumar 300/4. Remarkably little tweaking in Photoshop.
