This fun toucan invitation is perfect for the kid who loves going to the zoo and watching all the exotic birds. The background is printed on two premium 16pt. semi gloss card stock sheets. This card stock gives the card a good weight and feel. The toucan is cut separate from the background and is attached to the background using adhesive foam pieces. This gives a relief to the invitation. The wing is adorned with black feathers. The wing also opens to reveal the party information. With this order I will provide 10 white envelopes that will be size appropriate. Once you have placed your order send me an email with your event details so I can start the process of getting them together for your order. RE-THINK/RE-USE/RE-MAKE // John Baldessari, I am making art, 1971

for the

ΟΠΑ 0.2 (on πerformance art) international festival / Bios // athens 2009

----------------------------------------------------

A couple of years ago I filled a mosaic frame from Moo with cards of my photos. The format of the Moo MiniCards means that you end up cropping away quite a lot of the photos, unless they are long and thin of course. The other day I wondered if I could make a DPS interactive frame for Ipad – turns out I could...

The installation was part of a group of installations for a conference on communication and technology. I was designated a room that I filled with wires and telephone cords. The cords were everywhere, hanging from the ceiling, all about the floor. The viewer (or participant) could not pass through the room with out touching/interacting with the piece. Touching and interacting with an art piece was still an uncommon concept since so many of us have imbedded in our heads that art is meant to be seen and not to be touched. The piece also had several telephone receivers hanging from the ceiling. If the participant would put one up to their ear the would have heard an audio track.

I wrote a program in Max MSP to cue specific audio sounds when certain wires were tripped. I haven't touched the program since, but would not be opposed to revisiting this concept. I find that as we are all becoming more wireless and the traditional phone is becoming obsolete many of us are becoming better and more connected.

At the airport in Boise. The tiles were magnetic and could easily be re-arranged. I think it was okay that I played with them; there wasn't a sign telling me not to. I wanted to make 9-patch blocks but Mr. Karen thought we should go through security to wait for our plane instead.

With this solution people can take a picture of themselves as if they were actually on the front page of the magazine.

People can choose a background with typical scenarios, and thanks to kinect technology, they can interact with the screen only by moving their hands. The photos are displayed in a gallery that appears when there is no one in front of the screenn and updates regularly .

We can automatically share the pictures by email, in social networks or print it.

Some new media art requires direct interaction of the user, and some is generated by the technology itself. Although the talent and skill of the artist is still required in the conception and design of the project, the breakdown of the “fourth wall”, along with the expansion of physical limits created by improved technology allows for broader and deeper forms of expression.

In our fast and digital times of computers, networking and interactive mobile devices, there is only little room left, for different paces, concentration on quiet things. By utilizing old handcraft techniques such as Macrame – a knotted net using red ribbon wire –, this installation not only aims to preserve the knowledge of traditional artwork, but also the creation processes with time for talk and information exchange. By taking this individual work out of the context of private homes and placing it into public space, this project becomes a beautiful and poetical call for preserving old handwork techniques – also as an inspiring and creative resource for new structures and designs. We definitely enjoyed it !!!
