Edited Hubble Space Telescope image of the interacting galaxies Arp 293. Color/processing variant.
Original caption: Some galaxies are closer friends than others. While many live their own separate, solitary lives, others stray a little too close to a near neighbour and take their relationship to the next level. The galaxy in this Picture of the Week, named NGC 6286, has done just that! Just out of frame lies its partner, NGC 6285. Together, the duo is named Arp 293 and they are interacting, their mutual gravitational attraction pulling wisps of gas and streams of dust from them, distorting their shapes, and gently smudging and blurring their appearances on the sky — to Earth-based observers, at least. The NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope has viewed a number of interacting pairs. These can have distinctive, beautiful, and downright odd shapes, ranging from sheet music to a spaceship entering a sci-fi-esque wormhole, a bouquet of celestial blooms, and a penguin fiercely guarding its precious egg. Arp 293 is located in the constellation of Draco (The Dragon), and lies over 250 million light-years from Earth.

If you see something too big for your lens, you could take over-lapping shots of it, post them and I'll make a pano of them.

Blending custom software, state of the art digital renderings, and HD projection, Potion’s Star Spangled Banner interactive flag at the National Museum of American History brings a national treasure back into the hands of over a million annual visitors.
Using two HD projections on a touch-sensitive, four million pixel surface inside the most popular exhibit at the most visited museum on the National Mall, Potion worked with C&G Partners to create an interactive that could withstand the battering of a small army while maintaining an intimate experience. Panning slowly over the full flag’s surface, the interactive table shows the flag at a 1:1 scale, revealing minute details nearly invisible to the naked eye. The unparalleled resolution allows visitors to see the individual threads of the Banner, examining its subtle stains and imperfections as they skim their fingers across its surface.
As visitors explore the flag’s surface, they are met with over 100 touch-sensitive hotspots, each containing stories and anecdotes of the flag’s dramatic history. Touching an area opens curators’ notes, engaging historic stories, and restoration facts from the flag’s rich history. The scale of the table, like the flag itself, brings large groups of people together to share in its story.

Interactive Displays in Public Space
Daniel Michelis, Anhalt University of Applied Science
Interactive large format displays have presently found their way into many places in
public space. After a long phase of experimenting with prototypes only recently have
technically mature applications been observed that are used in an increasing number
of potential areas. This research project examines the motivations behind the use of these
applications.
Serving as the point of departure are four large format displays of the installation
Magical Mirrors, developed as prototypes by the author of this work, and which
allowed the first experiences with the use of interactive large format displays in public
space to be collected even before the beginning of the investigation. These initial
experiences were taken into consideration in developing the research questions and
design.
At the center of the work is an analysis of theoretical motivations in which five
motivational factors are determined according to previous research work and in
consideration of the demands specific to interactive large format displays. In the
analysis of these factors a set of tools of fundamental motivations are identified from
which design elements for interactive large format displays in public space can be
derived. The results of the analysis are subjected to an empirical examination. In 15
partial experiments the observed user behavior of a total of 4640 passersby is
analyzed.
On the basis of this empirical investigation this research project presents – as one of the
first scholarly works in this area – a contribution to the understanding of the
fundamental motivations behind the use of interactive large format displays in public
space.
This system turns every traditional climbing wall into an interactive climbing experience. Thousands of boulders and routes can now be saved on a single wall, and browsed and played using a simple remote control. Climbers can thus focus on their climbing experience, forgetting numbered stickers and colored stripes. Climbing routes are displayed only where and when it is needed.

Listening Heads, 2006 - Interactive video portraiture.
In the film shoot for Listening Heads, Kentaro directed his friends to act as characters which he thought would represent the nature of his friends. For example one of the friends was instructed to act as a stockbroker in Manhattan. The character was chosen to bring him/her-ness in body language and expression. According the character's nature, a number of scenario was created. For example stockbroker on cocaine is trying to pretend he is straight. Then these facial expressions of various scenarios were captured at a photography studio on HD video.
In the interactive video installation, the software responds to sound through the microphone, and talking to the microphone would trigger these different facial expressions, created from this scenario based portrait shoot, at random.
The facial expression (response) that is triggered by the viewer's voice (word/sentence) would make sense as a response for most of the time. Viewers were left to interpret the facial expressions in ways which suited for whatever they said.
This complete disconnections of two communication scenarios, one at the studio and one at the installation site, brings attention to absurd nature of language and communication, and context in which art works exist.

Taking their name from the Yiddish word for learning, the Limud Tables are storytelling interactives created for the Museum at Eldridge Street, a cultural institution residing within a restored synagogue on Manhattan's Lower East Side. The interactive tables educate visitors about the Synagogue and the historical community of the Lower East Side. Potion’s interactive software highlight the museum’s important history, location and architecture. Potion created a map based on the layout of the historical Lower East Side. Meticulously constructed 3-D models recreate important neighborhood sites from the turn of the century, offering visitors stories of Jewish immigrant life at these historic sites. In addition to stories, each table also contains interactive activities, such as a game that engages children in the reconstruction of the synagogue’s stained glass window.
Each Limud Table consists of two pieces: a custom-designed wooden table that serves as the point of interaction, and a large format LCD display upon which the stories are presented. Because the museum is housed within the Eldridge Street Synagogue, Potion designed the interactive tables with careful attention to their environment, allowing them to be easily turned off and to blend into the background during services.
