Creature design by Christopher Irvin, artist and independent film maker. You interact with his creature by pressing the buttons on it's front arms. They're all controlled by servos that move up and down so it's kind of a trip to try and interact with it. The base houses a computer which controls the servos and runs the interaction program & videos.

Perspectives is a community art exhibit about racism, now on display in Mill Valley. This unique interactive space features art that encourages conversations about racial justice in our Marin and beyond.
This project was created by artist Zoe Fry, in collaboration with Sharon Virtue, Winona Lewis and Naima. They built 3 painted doors about the past, present and future of racism in our area, inviting visitors to add their own art or comments in the back of each door.
The exhibit is now open to the public in Lytton Square in downtown Mill Valley, and will remain there until the winter rains start. You can learn more about this project on The Introverts Collective site: theintrovertscollective.com/perspectives

This photo album also includes Heroes, a companion exhibit by Wesley Cabral, which was produced independently and features large portraits of recently deceased black figures John Lewis.
I was impressed by the exceptional teamwork on this project, which brought together people from diverse backgrounds and cultures to produce a beautiful creation that transcend the prejudices that divide our society. Well done!
As a society, we need to find a cure for racism, a terrible disease that has crippled America since its inception. Creative projects like these can give us a way to talk about this complex issue, through art.

The Brewery Museum „Wieselburg“ underwent an innovation. Both a detailed redesign of the interiors and cutting-edge digital installations helped the museum molt into a world of experience. Ars Electronica Solutions was asked to help conceptualize, design and develop the latter.
The aim was not only to illustrate the history of beer, but also to make the entire construction process comprehensible and understandable for visitors. This is achieved with the help of dynamic projections and interactive tools. Installations such as the audio station above the whirlpool tub or the staging of the ingredients are designed to appeal to all the senses. A special feature is the historic bottling plant, which will be brought to life through lovingly designed projections.

Listening Heads, 2006 - Interactive video portraiture.
In the film shoot for Listening Heads, Kentaro directed his friends to act as characters which he thought would represent the nature of his friends. For example one of the friends was instructed to act as a stockbroker in Manhattan. The character was chosen to bring him/her-ness in body language and expression. According the character's nature, a number of scenario was created. For example stockbroker on cocaine is trying to pretend he is straight. Then these facial expressions of various scenarios were captured at a photography studio on HD video.
In the interactive video installation, the software responds to sound through the microphone, and talking to the microphone would trigger these different facial expressions, created from this scenario based portrait shoot, at random.
The facial expression (response) that is triggered by the viewer's voice (word/sentence) would make sense as a response for most of the time. Viewers were left to interpret the facial expressions in ways which suited for whatever they said.
This complete disconnections of two communication scenarios, one at the studio and one at the installation site, brings attention to absurd nature of language and communication, and context in which art works exist.
