At INTERACTIVE Pavilion we showcased a variety of the newest IT/technology related products from hardware and software to digital arts and sciences. People enjoyed experiencing and seeing the cutting-edge technology coming straight from Japan.

Knox College students work on projects in Interactive Design, a multidisciplinary course that brings together students and faculty in computer science, art, theatre and graphic design.
Trimpin uses dozens of wind and percussion instruments with automated playing machines installed in various positions throughout the gallery, and invites the viewer to play with the control knob which selects which instruments are playing and how, in effect each person is allowed to be a part of a long improvised song. This is an installation view from the Henry's part of his regional retrospective recently. I found this to be the most intuitive and fun interactive installation I've ever participated in (though I can't say I've participated in many).
Project by Myles Blasonato, James Brown and Michael Moretti. A challenge for these game designers was to develop an Audio-Only Game experience in which the player navigates the spatial virtual experience of a non-linear narrative blindfolded. The Wii controller is used to activate events, such as answering the phone, shooting, turning a door-handle and voice activation triggers other selections as the player chooses their own path through the branching structure of the adventure narrative. The player depends solely on her/his ears for sensations and directions. The sound design involves virtual spatial audio, foley/SFX, dialogue and binaural directional cues.
This project was developed in the Interactive Sound Studio 2008 University of Sydney.

Had the distinct pleasure of running into one of my all-time favorite (street) artists, WK Interact, as he touched up his amazing 9/11 tribute piece entitled “Project Brave.” Not only was he kind enough to allow me to take photos as he worked, but he tolerated me for a nice conversation as well (albeit a lil one-sided as my coffee hadn’t hit yet. :)) Thank you again for your time and amazing work sir! One of our two, - 90' inflatable obstacle courses. This obstacel course will have your drill sargent keep you moving on this adrenalin rush course. You will be forced to go through tunnels, and obstacels and swing over the moat or land in the swamp and then crawl under the laser field and climb up the hill and slide down to the end. When you learn to find other people fascinating, a world of possibilities opens up and almost any situation can become exciting. Even the most boring event can seem like an opportunity for optimism and insight.

Lewis and Clark Community College unveiled its interactive mural just in time for graduation. The design competition was won by Breanna Sak of Granite City. The mural will be on display outside The Commons until next spring, when a new design will replace it. The World’s Greatest Miniature Village
Roadside America is an unforgettable, interactive panorama of American history. The scenes depicted in the exhibit span more than two hundred years of history and nearly 6k square feet in scale. Created entirely by one man over his lifetime, the beautiful architecture and attention to detail paid to each handcrafted building is enough to captivate even the biggest skeptic.
Aside from the countless parked trains filling packed train yards, the display features 9 fully operational railroads. Visitors can control 3 of these railroads with the press of a button! Train enthusiasts will enjoy watching the various O-Guage trains and trolleys wiz through the vast miniature landscape.
Throughout the display, scattered push buttons allow visitors to control a plethora of animations that bring the village to life. Included on these push buttons are 3 fully operational trolleys, a full circus parade, an operating mine shaft, and so much more!
Also unique to our display is the use of real water! Flowing waterways, fantastic hilltop fountains, and a huge canyon waterfall are just a few of the many sites to see at Roadside America.
As night falls over the display (every 30 minutes) and the village's miniature inhabitants go to sleep, the landscape comes alive with street lights aglow, trains and trolleys rushing around all through the night, and a plane circling the display from above in a beautiful night pageant.
