Instructor Ian Mandin (left) poses in the on-air booth as part of the Radio Arts program in this photo from the 1972-73 Lethbridge Junior College yearbook. Mandin was part of the faculty when Radio Arts merged with Journalism to become Communication Arts in 1981. That program was the predecessor to the current day Digital Communications and Media program that enjoys another success beginning today as student Stephanie Savage departs to take part in the Troy Reeb Internship with Global News in Toronto and Ottawa.

This was taken on a T-37 cross country flight in Oklahoma City on the back porch of my grandparent's house. On the right is James Earl, my college roommate and the instructor who guided me through learning to fly the civilian way. On the left is Major Johnny Leonard, a much decorated B-52 pilot from Vietnam who unlearned me of my bad civilian habits and taught me "The Air Force Way."
Family members of Master Sgt. Patrick R. McFarland join together with Virginia National Guard Soldiers Nov. 13, 2015, at Fort Pickett, Va., for a site dedication ceremony in honor of McFarland, who passed away unexpectedly in September. McFarland, who served more than 24 years in the Virginia Army National Guard, was the course manager for the Fort Pickett-based 2nd Battalion, 183rd Regiment, Regional Training Institute’s 88M Motor Transport Operator Course at the time of his death. The dedication ceremony site, now designated as “Mac’s Hill,” is a key training location during the 88M course and McFarland was largely responsible for the creation and use of the site, now marked with a sign in his honor.
