Instructor Nancy Rothenberg teamed up with the girls and dorm staff of Wallace South on November 15, 2017, to promote and practice the skills of self-defence and assertiveness. The NetFPGA platform enables researchers and instructors to build working prototypes of high-speed, hardware-accelerated networking systems. The platform can be used in the classroom to teach students how to build Ethernet switches and Internet Prototcol (IP) routers using hardware rather than software. The system consists of a reprogrammable development board, reference implementations, and sample courseware. The development board itself is a PCI card that can be installed in any PC with an available full-length slot. Hosted on the board are a user-programmable FPGA (with two PowerPC processors), SRAM, DRAM, and four 1Gbps Ethernet ports.

Chief Instructor Tim Lee and the students in the 2009 and 2010 Traditional Large Craft classes built this breathtakingly beautiful boat for owner Sarah Howell.
The Yankee One Design class, and GEMINI, the boat we built for Sarah Howell in 2009 and 2010 was the subject of a wonderful article in WoodenBoat magazine, number 221 (July/August 2011.
Sarah wrote in that article "Having my Yankee built by the Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding was a wonderful experience. The students put so much effort into every detail. If there were two ways of making a thing, they chose the harder, better way, to learn the skill. When it all came together, it was magnificent; not just the boat, but the transformation of the group along the way."

An instructor with Durham Flight Centre looks out his window as a cadet participating in the 2013 Power Pilot Scholarship (PPS) program guides the aircraft back to the flight centre. The 2013 PPS program started on the 1st of July and will continue until the 16th of August, 2013.
