Nonlinear dynamics: Chaos, and what to do about it?

PHYS 7224 Spring semester 2012

Was showing off and playing up to the camera. Sun setting. On-Camera SB600 Manual 1/1, Manual Exposure to Underexpose background. I got lucky with the framing. No cropping. This is the only shot of 20 that works. I was knee deep in the sea. He was trying to jump, catch the board, turn and board away again. He missed the catch! The board nearly hit me and both camera and I got wet.

Photographer Nick Whitman has been photographing this 140- to 175-year-old sugar maple tree in the Science Quad for a number of years. This winter, the tree was deemed unsafe and had to be removed. Students in Whitman's Winter Study course on landscape photography took these photos and created this tribute to the tree.

The course, "Landscape Photography," broadens students' appreciation for the appearance and history of the landscape and teaches the skills of making a successful photograph.

Safety and Security instructor, Mike Gremba, learns more about law enforcement in other countries while vacationing in Bermuda.

This was taken on a T-37 cross country flight in Oklahoma City on the back porch of my grandparent's house. On the right is James Earl, my college roommate and the instructor who guided me through learning to fly the civilian way. On the left is Major Johnny Leonard, a much decorated B-52 pilot from Vietnam who unlearned me of my bad civilian habits and taught me "The Air Force Way."
