Oii meninas!

Esmalte do Carnaval, rs! Essa coisinha lindíssima de cor candy na versão neon que eu demorei tanto pra usar. A cor não mancha, e fica uma coisa linda, sem ser enjoativa nas unhas. Conclusão: Ameei!! <3

Beeijos!

I have never posted a complete photo of my corner of the workroom, really the apartment's living room by original but I like it because of the light! Much better than previous workroom.

Photographed standing close to the door of the room.

Högsbo is the name of the district we are living in now. A little closer to the center of the city, a little further from the ghetto we lived in. Calmer area, which I enjoy. This used to be a place where lots of senior citizens but I have noticed quite a big change in the demography since 5 years, much more people my age now. But no wonder, the seniors move away to better housing for their needs (with elevators to save their old legs, not walking up 3 storeys) or die, and the young people move in to the 50's area and 50's is awesome. At least I think so. ;) Of course many more prefer Majorna bordering to us with the wooden 3 story houses built 1890-1920 (old working class area)... But this is more me! (and the Majorna houses has been brutally renovated, think blowing out, late 70's so they have the ugly late 70's style on the inside)

The old bar stool again.

When I acquired this German beauty, it was already several decades old. But it was my only camera for about 4 years, along with a hand held meter. It taught me everything I needed to know until the digital age.

My other stuff

If you're interested, all my "Explored" pics are here and my automagically-chosen "most interesting" pics are here.

Explored :)

There was an earthquake this morning that woke me up. Scared the shit out of me. I got up, ran and stood in the doorway. Does that even do anything? Is that one of those things they just told us to tell us, but that doesn't really do anything other than make you think you're less likely to die? I dunno, but I did it.

I was catching caterpillars with my dog, Baron, when the '89 earthquake hit. Well, I was looking for caterpillars to catch. I was always looking for caterpillars to catch, crossing my fingers that I'd find a monarch caterpillar. My parents would even take me to parks not in our immediate area in search for monarch caterpillars. My parents are fucking rad. Anyway, yeah, never found any monarch caterpillars, only those green ones that turn to small moths, and a couple super poisonous looking ones that built cocoons and never came out of them. Back to 30 seconds before the '89 quake. I saw this green caterpillar on one of my mom's plants. Plastic shovel and bucket in hand(s). I either scoop up the caterpillar, or am within an inch of scooping up the caterpillar when holy-fucking-shitballs-with-peanuts-in-'em, everything starts shaking. I remember a rumbling sound, though I can't say if that was my imagination or not. Can't remember if my dog was barking or not (probably was). I thought I did something terribly wrong, and the Gods were making it known. My mom was screaming at me to get inside.

I didn't go to school the next day, and I heard barely anyone did, so all they did was watch movies and eat popcorn. Why did I always miss out on the cool days at school? And now that I think of it, how do most kids keep from cutting class every day? I used to always pretend to be sick so I wouldn't have to go to school. Then I'd be stuck at home, in my stuffy room with nothing to do, or in the living room watching "One Life to Live" with my mom. Nowadays, kids could be online playing pretty much any fucking video game I wanted but couldn't afford as a kid online somewhere, watching music videos, or playing some cooler shit.

I think my coffee's fully brewed. This note's over.

Didn't want to do the same as everyone else. I love those shots with fruits dropped in a spoonful of milk, but I decided to do the opposite, Instead of dropping the strawberry in the milk, I poured the milk on the strawberries. I know, not very original, but I like the colours.

"Both abundance and lack exist simultaneously in our lives, as parallel realities. It is always our conscious choice which secret garden we will tend...when we choose not to focus on what is missing from our lives but are grateful for the abundance that's present--love, health, family, friends, work, the joys of nature and personal pursuits that bring us pleasure--the wasteland of illusion falls away and we experience Heaven on earth."

I haven't been in the mood to take pics of her, because I don't have many outfits that suit her mature style. So I decided that I should just give her the usual sweet look I like because she deserves more attention!

Thank you to Miércoles, because she made this cuuuute outfit!

LOOK-CHOOP (in Thai)

INGREDIENTS

150 gm green beans, washed and soaked overnight

1 ½ cups coconut milk

1 cup sugar

For the coating:

1 tablespoon gelatin

2 cups water, with 1 drop of jasmine extract

½ cup sugar

20-30 bamboo sticks, 10cm-12.5cm long, satay sticks or long toothpicks

For preparation:

Foam base measuring 15cm x 20cm (holds 20-30 pieces of look choop)

3 small paint brushes

Food colorings: red, yellow, green, and purple

PROCEDURE

Boil the green beans until soft then drain thoroughly. Use the same pot to mash the boiled beans with the coconut milk and sugar. Stir over low heat until thoroughly blended, and until dry. Set aside to cool.

For the fruit shapes, you can use your hands to shape them into the form of the fruit or vegetable desired such as chilies, papayas, mangoes, oranges and cherries are popular choices. Use the bamboo sticks to lift the fruit pieces and place them on the foam base.

Then mix the gelatin, water (with jasmine added) and sugar in a pan. Bring to the boil over low heat. Allow about one third of the water to evaporate so the jelly thickens.

Coat the beans, paint with the food coloring so they represent the selected fruit. Leave to dry. Once dried, dip each fruit in the jelly at least three times and leave to dry on the foam base. Finally, sharpen the forms with a small kitchen knife.

She is doing much better!! She is eating, playing and bathing herself now. I am able to catch her easier and bring her inside too. She actually sat in my lap last night and just purred like she has been a lap cat all this time.

“I did not become a vegetarian for my health, I did it for the health of the chickens.”

(Isaac Bashevis Singer - Polish-born American writer 1904-1991)

There are a few stores in the street where I live in Varanasi (Benaras) where people can buy chicks.

Each time I walk there I can hear them peeping inside their boxes.

A few days ago I took a few pictures of those baby birds and I felt happy that I am still a vegetarian...;)
