It's been a while since we've seen her, but Mina is still letting loose her inner pinup at the local monthly burlesque night. She knows just the right amount of sweet and innocent to mix into her routines...

This canyon was one of the most incredible I've been to, though I know I say things like that a lot. Slot canyons really are like people in that they are all different and have different moods and personalities and energies to them. This one had a cold drafty feel, with ravens making some incredibly weird sounds as they called to each other from their nests, which were built in holes that opened downward 75ft to the ground. The very first step those baby ravens take must result in a successful flight, or instant death. What a place for those crazy birds to raise offspring! It evoked a movie. The best movie sets are inspired by places like this. The balance of warm golden glow with cool bluish hues made beautiful color harmony. The top of the canyon was striped orange, black & tan like a tiger.
I try to remember that photography is the secondary activity. Experiencing the beauty and awe of the place by living, breathing, smelling, listening, seeing, and feeling all that makes it special and unique is the primary activity. If I had left my cameras behind, walking through these atmospheric halls of stone still would have been entirely worthwhile in itself. I walked slowly up the canyon to its exit, and then back down the canyon to the entrance. Then I walked through again, taking in the light, color, & texture, taking in the swoosh of raven's wings, the whistle of wind, the glow of afternoon sun.
With an idea of the images I wanted to create, I composed an image, spending about 30m designing it. When I was finished exploring the canyon with the medium format film camera, I made some exposures on my small format camera.
Finally, I sat on the floor of the canyon in the shadow of the walls with my iPhone, making a few more.

When I was looking at this image, I kept thinking that in the light I had, the monument appeared to glow. I chose this look because it worked with the appearance that the monument had its own inner light.
As a bonus, church towers are in the background.
This was originally Robertson Memorial Presbyterian Church built in 1911 and designed by prolific local architect John Hamilton Gordon Russell.

Photo session in Calella de Palafrugell (Girona). Nice location for a photo shot. The day was a bit cloudy which helped a lot to reduce the shadows. Great location for any photo session. Always with my 85mm, natural light and handheld.
Thank you all for your appreciation.

People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in their true beauty is revealed only if there is light from within. ~Elisabeth Kübler-Ross
I've been sick for the last week, so no new photos, just this reworked one from last summer.

Designed by Ybl Miklós, built in 1852-53.
Romantic sytle building with some Moorish Revival elements..
Its courtyard is a passageway (alley?) between two streets. I don't know the right term for that kind of building.
Miklós Ybl: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikl%C3%B3s_Ybl
A Múzeum körutat a Magyar utcával összekötő palota Ybl legkorábbi pesti művei közül való, 1852 és 1853 között épült Unger Henrik megbízásából. A jogász végzettségű, de egyébként kovácsmester felmenőkkel rendelkező megbízó bérházak építésével szerzett nagy vagyont. A romantikus stílusú, bizánci és mór elemeket is felvonultató épület első emeletén hét kis erkélyt láthatunk, amelyet egyenként két-két griffmadár támaszt alulról. Az átjáróházként használt, hangulatos udvart - az Operaház kocsifeljárójához hasonlóan - fakockák burkolják.

A recent addition to a growing series, from a public parking facility.
While shooting this, a worker stopped and wondered what I was photographing. I thought it was obvious; I guess he meant "why". Then a janitor asked what organization did I belong to, he was suspicious and said I should report to the admin office. I just said "don't bother, I'll be done soon (it was a long exposure, I couldn't just pack and leave)". He wasn't satisfied, but thankfully left me alone.
I don't know what harm a photograph can do to a public parking. It's not critical infrastructure. To avoid further hassle, next time I will do that at night, as it makes no difference to the lighting.
How would you explain to a layman when you are caught photographing something apparently mundane and uninteresting?
So This week the challenge was resolutions in the Mastermidns group I had to think really hard to come up with anything. Lately though I have been a little melacholy and stressed though. So I found myself wishing that I could just feel peace. No arguing or figthing no stressing just peace. Something I think we all strive for in one way or another... Inner Peace.
This was made for the Masterminds Week 69- Resolutions.
Sadly I missed the deadline but like 9 mintues thanks to crappy internet uploading. Oh well.
