Station Luik-Guillemins

Docklands, Melbourne

The area is close to Melbourne's main transport networks, including Southern Cross Station, and is well known as the home to Etihad Stadium and many modern buildings, public spaces and artworks.

Docklands is the national headquarters for a number of major businesses including the National Australia Bank, ANZ, Myer, AXA, Bendigo Bank, Medibank Private and the Bureau of Meteorology.

Decided to walk across the bridge instead of riding and enjoy the gorgeous morning scenery from this arch bridge.

Saturday Self-Challenge: Take a photo and post process it to achieve the goal for your subject.

Earlier this week, I had a chance to visit the beautiful Winterthur Museum and Gardens. During my tour of the gardens, I saw a hedgerow of Elephant Ear plants (Colocasia). The sun was shining brightly on the leaves; I had never studied them up close before, and did not realize how incredibly beautiful the leaf structure was. Backlighting by the sun revealed an intricate pattern that made for a perfect natural abstract.

Post-processing involved cropping, increasing highlights, sharpening and use of the HDR effect by PicMonkey.

Have a wonderful weekend, my friends! :-)

Living here in the City has been an incredible experience. I've seen so many amazing things, eaten at so many different restaurants, driven up so many hills, checked out so many views... and seen a few stunning sunsets. A redo of this vantage point had been on my list for quite some time, and when I saw this long-burning sunset building up while the Giants were playing over in Kansas City in the World Series, I knew the time to capture this shot had come. Just a little traffic in the city on the way... ehh, nothing compared to LA. Note all the orange in the skyline: Coit Tower, Transamerica, Embarcadero buildings, etc... seems like more every year.

Then the Giants came back to town over the weekend and I bused it over to AT&T Park to stand outside the fence and watch. It was a total circus. Game 6 is tonight and the city will go orange and wild again!

Thoughts, suggestions, etc are welcome, as always! This is a single exposure at 35mm, slightly cropped.
