This image is from a trip to Yerba Buena Island to catch the sunset colors do what they do in the atmosphere. It was a soft one with somewhat pastel coloration and the bay was calm enough to pick up the color and send it up to the camera.
I met another photographer on the way back up who was diligently working on a blue hour shot.
Yes, there was a sea fog at the Golden Gate Bridge but it stayed quite thin and then evaporated. So, no need to high-tail it across the bay.
Thanks, as always for your support!
Honestly, this is the way to go. If you could stand the smell.
The 105 Freeway meets the 710 Freeway. A tangled knot of concrete and pavement. This is what a majority of the Los Angeles area looks like. I'll be honest, it took a few years to be able to find my way around without my nose buried in a Thomas Guide (as I moved here before the iPhone and Google Maps became ubiquitous). At the height of the golden hour, this hazy sunset begins. The neighborhood of Lynwood, in the upper left, glows under the setting sun.

Not far from the Brooklyn Bridge is the Manhattan Bridge. These bridges are just a few blocks away from each other and I was able to capture both of them during the prime lighting at dawn during my stay in New York. I really like how the upper clouds form a frame around the bridge and suddenly stop behind the bridge.

One of my favorite photography locations in NYC is right in front of the Flatiron building......especially on a cloudy evening. The light trails you can get from here are awesome.
The cool thing is that you can shoot here until it gets dark.....then you can jump in to Eataly (little gourmet food store on the right) and grab a cannoli and espresso.
Photography, cannoli....and espresso....almost brings a tear to my eye thinking about it. :-)
