The macro monday’s theme for today, 2/15, is frozen in an ice cube, InIce. These turned out better than I had the right to expect considering the complexity needed to create crystal clear cubes. Mine didn’t pass muster for that criteria but I liked the results nonetheless. I think there may be 8 I like.... thank goodness for Barbie accessory props...

Nobody listened to Brainy Smurf, when he tried to warn them about climate change and the catastrophic climatic events that would ensue... And now, as is too often the case, the bearer of unpopular news pays the price for the collective inertia.
My entry for #InIce, Macro Mondays' theme for Feb. 15, 2021.
i have been quite enjoying the MacroMonday challenge this week - making ice cubes with things inside them has been full of small surprises especially the bubbles and opaque crystals that form patterns in the ice.
Lots of rejected ice cubes are now melting alongside the few that i liked. Several didn't even get a camera pointed at them. But now I cant work out what is best from the 3 that have made my short list for posting to the MacroMonday group.
Camera Obscura - A Red, Red Rose
Cette petite pierre de cristal portant le nom de Cornaline a dû être heureux dans un glaçon pour se refaire une santé. Sa robe rouge orangée lui procure une beauté sans pareille. #Macro #MacroMondays #InIce
Fooling around with stuff frozen into ice. Prompted by this theme in Macro Mondays.
This is my fave. So much going on.
Here are some other items from the same experiment.
a cube of black ice made with water and dye, embedded in a cube of plain ice that measures 1.5 inches cubed and illuminated from below.
cube moulds made with cereal box card and double sided tape - Blue Peter rocks ! : ) HAPPY HMM!
What an awesome challenge this was!
My freezer is filled with uncountable bowls and cases, towels everywhere, trying to get the shot with wet fingers and in natural light racing against the thawing proces. Felt like I took trillions of shots of different objects, funnily enough I ended up with the one object that first popped into my mind. It is a pendant that my fav chocolate brand comes with - kept it from last years valentine. At easter its a bunny and at xmas its a bear. The heart is 1/2 an inch.
Had a lot of fun, hope you like it!
Macro Mondays: In Ice
This was challenging, but fun! There's some cool stuff going on in the upper left corner of the darkest stone.
The scene in total is about 2" across. The pink stone, for example, is exactly a quarter-inch wide, including the silver ("silver") setting.
Novelty biro top. Visible part just under 4cm.
Frozen in a tray with a foil lid to keep the pen in the water with the dorsal fin above the surface.
This is a tiny flower off a succulent. The ice cube it's frozen in is clear at its edges but cloudy in the middle. The flower being very small is in the clear area of the ice cube making it nicely visible.
The bit of the ice cube you can see is about 1 inch. It was taken in natural light and cropped to 16x9 but otherwise is straight out of the camera.
Week 7/2021.
