my personal implementation of this Monday theme . " In Ice "
A Macro Mondays submission on the topic "In ice", where an object is frozen in ice. Here, a pair of Westringia flowers have been frozen into an ice cube.
We had freezing rain in Virginia this weekend. Everything was in ice, including the seed heads of last fall's blooms.
The #Flickr #MacroMondays prompt this week was to freeze a solid object in ice and take a macro photo. Since I was already working with tiny construction paper hearts for another photo, I decided to see what would happen if I froze one and used it. I particularly like the way the red color pops against the cool-white of the ice.
For what it's worth, I did *not* use a freezer for this. I filled a small plastic cup with water and stuck it out my bedroom window before going to sleep. When I woke up (at 4ish AM lol), I added the paper heart and enough water to cover it, and returned it to the outside windowsill for 30 minutes before bringing it in to do the photo.
A pasta heart shape frozen in a triangular ice cube.Difficult to shoot as it was thawing as fast as I was trying to get creative!
The ice cube was placed on a red plate and then lit with a torch just on the lip of the plate.
A Tracer watch frozen in ice.
The watch was put into a plastic cup with a straw holding the band against the sides. The cup was wrapped in cloth so the water would freeze from the top down driving the bubbles to the bottom but some bubbles were attached to the watch.
When frozen, I cut the cup away and set up an off-camera flash with a honeycomb grid and blue filter above and to the right of the subject.
The top of the ice frosted over making it impossible to see the watch so I wiped it with a bit of rubbing alcohol.
The watch was unharmed and continued to run in the ice.
Some screws frozen in Ice. 9 in total. 6 visible in the shot.
For what ever reason the feeling reminds me of Pink Floyds Obscured by Clouds. Its the same but different :)
The macro monday’s theme for today, 2/15, is frozen in an ice cube, InIce. These turned out better than I had the right to expect considering the complexity needed to create crystal clear cubes. Mine didn’t pass muster for that criteria but I liked the results nonetheless. I think there may be 8 I like.... thank goodness for Barbie accessory props... this is an actually an eraser

Sea Star in Ice. I wasn't crazy about this theme, but I did it anyway albeit a little later than I usually do!
created for Macro Mondays theme in ice. Had a lot of fun. For this one I used sunset to get some special effect.

Nobody listened to Brainy Smurf, when he tried to warn them about climate change and the catastrophic climatic events that would ensue... And now, as is too often the case, the bearer of unpopular news pays the price for the collective inertia.
My entry for #InIce, Macro Mondays' theme for Feb. 15, 2021.
