Thank you to everyone who pauses long enough to look at my photo. All comments and Faves are very much appreciated
Amsterdam's property taxes used to be based on the width of the frontage, so many houses were built tall, thin and deep. The area is very marshy, so there are no really tall buildings, not even modern office blocks, at least, not that I saw - maybe further inland. Subsidence over the centuries means that many buildings are now somewhat askew.
The canals are about 3m (10ft) deep. We were told that they contain 1m depth of mud, 1m of discarded bicycles and 1m of water.
These little clouds in a row reminded me of the nursery rhyme.
We are having a beautiful spring but let us not forget that rain is badly needed this time of year in order that plants grow to provide us with food.

Nine ladies and three men have just been to the Barnes (art museum) in Philadelphia and are sitting all in a row waiting for a bus.I thought it would be fun to present them in a painterly way.

Pretty Maids All In A Row
The Eagles
Hi there,
How are 'ya?
it's been a long time
Seems like we've come a long way
My, but we learn so slow
and heroes, they come
and they go
and leave us behind as if
we're supposed to know why
Why do we give up our hearts to the past?
and why must we grow up so fast?
And all you wishing well fools with your fortunes
someone should send you a rose with love from a friend,
it's nice to hear from you again
And the storybook comes to a close
Gone are the ribbons and bows
Things to remember places to go
Pretty Maids all in a Row
Oh, oh oh, oh......
A 6 shot pano from our roadtrip to Gostwyck. Superb Foggy morning .... Hope you like Pretty Maids All In A Row". Cheers, Mike
This silver drinks set is not all it may appear to be at first glance. It is in fact a 1:12 miniature drinks set, made by artisan Clare Bell at the Clare Bell Brass Works in Maine, in the United States. Each goblet is only one centimetre in height and the decanter at the far end is two- and three-quarter centimetres with the stopper inserted.
The theme for “Looking Close… on Friday!” is “all in a row”.
When I heard the theme, I really wanted to do something using simple silver pieces reflecting off a mirrored surface. This miniature 1:12 artisan drinks set arrived at my home recently after several months in transit. I had almost given up hope that I would ever see it when it arrived. It seemed to be the perfect choice for the theme. I hope you agree.
Clare-Bell Brass Works is an American manufacturer of fine dollhouse miniatures. Each miniature is precision machined from solid brass or silver metal, carefully hand assembled, and in some cases gold plated for lasting beauty. They are located in Lovell, Maine.
This scene reminds me of a CAA incident I had a few years back. I wonder how much the tow costs in this case and if they split the bill three ways. A hard lesson if you run out of wind and don't have a motor it's basically the same as running out of gas.
I should explain - these three dinghies are part of the SOSA sailing school here in Summerland. I went there for several years before buying my 26 foot Catalina - since sold. I was surprised to see them heading so far up on the northern end of the lake heading toward Kelowna - usually we just cross to the other side and back again. Well apparently their adventure came to an abrupt end when the wind died - no way back without a tow and by the looks of the sail reflections in the water, that wind is not about to return any time soon.

Extreme Panorama, 12 vertical photos, of a group of 3 trees (2 really but I thought the 3rd was needed to balance it a bit) in the forest at Auchincruive when we were there for a walk and coffee.... using my newest lens the Viltrov 56mm f1.7
On November 17, 2024, the Lighthouse will light up in purple for the 4th year in a row. We do this as a symbol of support for the many children born prematurely, their families and not least the fantastic staff at the hospitals, who fight to give the children a good start in life..
