La isla de San Andrés ratificó su compromiso de convertirse en una biodiverciudad, con la firma de un acuerdo de voluntades entre el Ministerio de Ambiente y Desarrollo Sostenible, la Gobernación de San Andrés, Providencia y Santa Catalina y Coralina.
El gobierno del presidente Iván Duque viene implementando el programa Biodiverciudades, por ello el ministro de Ambiente y Desarrollo Sostenible, Carlos Eduardo Correa, promueve en diferentes partes del país la importancia de que ahora las capitales sean pensadas y gestionadas a partir de entornos naturales saludables. “La naturaleza ya no puede seguir siendo lo que está allá afuera, la naturaleza ahora forma parte del todo”, ha dicho.
Correa expresó: “Aquí estuvimos con el presidente Duque lanzando el programa Un Millón de Corales por Colombia, enmarcado en esta gran iniciativa de Biodiverciudades que lideramos desde el Minambiente, y ahora firmamos el acuerdo de voluntades, porque la isla tiene todo para ser una biodiverciudad, integrando la biodiversidad que tiene con los beneficios del desarrollo urbano sostenible”.
El ministro hizo énfasis en que el Gobierno quiere transformar las ciudades en grandes espacios en los que, al integrar la naturaleza al desarrollo urbano, ayuden a solucionar las principales problemáticas ambientales, sociales y económicas.
El gobernador Everth Hawkins expresó que esta estrategia le permitirá a la isla fortalecer proyectos ambientales necesarios para enfrentar los efectos del cambio climático. “Muy agradecidos por la inclusión de nuestra isla en la iniciativa Biodiverciudades y por el proyecto de siembra de corales que está avanzando”, comentó.
Más beneficios
Entre los proyectos que hacen parte de este acuerdo de voluntades está la financiación de dos estaciones de monitoreo de calidad del aire, la construcción de 10 ecoviveros en igual número de instituciones educativas y una inversión en ciencia participativa “para que, de la mano de los isleños, los jóvenes, los raizales, construyamos esa biodiverciudad”, señaló el ministro.
En la firma del acuerdo participaron representantes de gremios, de la academia y de la comunidad raizal, quienes destacaron el hecho de que la isla esté entre los territorios para invertir en proyectos que promueven un ambiente sano, con menos contaminación y mucha arborización.
Unión de sectores
El presidente del Consejo Raizal, el pastor Alberto Gordon, destacó la iniciativa como una oportunidad para generar proyectos ambientales. “Esto nos ayuda a tener una isla menos contaminada y un ambiente más sano”, señaló.
Adriana Santos, directora de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia sede Caribe, dijo que estos proyectos son necesarios para generar mayor conciencia ambiental. “Desde la academia estamos formando profesionales con capacidades para aportar a este proceso que inicia en la isla”, afirmó.
El ministro Correa también recorrió el Parque Natural Old Point, que está a cargo de la Corporación para el Desarrollo Sostenible del Archipiélago de San Andrés, Providencia y Santa Catalina (Coralina). Allí se visiona desarrollar un proyecto de turismo de naturaleza que genere ingresos para las familias de la isla.
Ya son 13 las ciudades que forman parte de esta estrategia: Barranquilla, Leticia, Villavicencio, Medellín, Bucaramanga, Quibdó, San Andrés, Barrancabermeja, Manizales, Montería, Armenia, Pasto y Yopal. On July 26, 2024, the symposium "Taking Action on Long-Acting PrEP: Towards Access and Implementation" was held at the AIDS 2024 conference.
Moderated by Esteban Burrone from the Medicines Patent Pool and Chrystal Bonzo from The Global Fund, the session addressed the challenges and strategies for scaling up long-acting PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) following the promising results from HPTN 083 and HPTN 084 trials.
Key presentations included insights from: Shirley Chen of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation on accelerating access; Yolanda Lawson of the National Medical Association on implementing LA-CAB among Black women in the U.S.; Adamson Ndhlovu from JSI/USAID DISCOVER-Health on lessons from Zambia; and Anne-Isabelle Cameron from Unitaid discussed innovation models for implementation.
The session concluded with a Q&A segment, emphasizing the need for collaborative efforts to overcome supply chain, financing, and structural challenges to expand access to long-acting PrEP.

A Prefeitura de Contagem continua empenhada em combater os focos do mosquito transmissor da dengue, zika e chikungunya, e garantir a saúde e bem-estar da população. Nesse sentido, vem implementando uma série de medidas, dentre elas os mutirões de limpeza, que nesta semana vão atender as regiões Petrolândia e Vargem das Flores. Na terça-feira (2/4), o caminhão vai percorrer quarteirões do bairro Petrolândia, e na quinta-feira (4/4), do bairro Darcy Ribeiro.
O objetivo dos mutirões de limpeza é recolher materiais que possam servir como criadouros para o mosquito transmissor da dengue, como: garrafas, bacias, tambores, tampinhas, pneus, vasilhas, entre outros. Os agentes responsáveis comunicam o dia e horário da ação nas residências dos bairros contemplados.
As ações da Prefeitura são importantes para o combate da dengue, zika e chikungunya, mas a população também deve fazer sua parte, adotando hábitos como:
Tampar toneis e caixas d’água
Manter calhas sempre limpas
Deixar garrafas sempre viradas com a boca para baixo
Deixar ralos limpos e com aplicação de tela
Limpar semanalmente ou preencher pratos de vasos de plantas com areia
Limpar os potes de água para animais
Retirar água acumulada na área de serviço, recipiente de degelo de geladeiras e de trás da máquina de lavar roupa

The final implemented version gave all the attention on the stories as originally intended and the first story highlights the goals of PRISM to new visitors. Additionally, refinement was made towards the overall look of the Flash interface.
One challenge with this design was the DHTML implementation of the global navigation. Dropdowns flickered above the Flash frame causing a lot of friction in the user's ability to jump to other pages. As a result, the same navigation was implemented within the Flash frame to maintain a smooth and consistent experience.

Our Safety Delivered program kicked off implementation in Myanmar with a range of activities, including helmet fittings, stakeholder trainings, and baseline knowledge tests with students from the four program schools. AIP Foundation staff conducted trainings for the two volunteers from the Myanmar Engineering Society of Mandalay, our partner organization in the area. We also visited the four program schools to conduct helmet fittings for students and administer a pre-implementation, baseline student knowledge test for 100 students from each school, a representative sample size of all of the grades and schools.

Como un hito en materia de desarrollo sostenible calificó el ministro de Ambiente, Carlos Eduardo Correa, la puesta en funcionamiento de la planta de tratamiento de aguas residuales en Montería, pues gracias a la tecnología implementada se reducirá el impacto al medio ambiente.
El titular de la cartera de Ambiente inauguró la planta, obra que fue ejecutada por la empresa Veolia, prestadora del servicio de acueducto y alcantarillado en la capital de Córdoba.
“El agua es vida y el saneamiento básico es dignidad. Con esta planta se da un salto tecnológico muy importante en el tratamiento de las aguas residuales, y se impactará el urbanismo de la zona nororiental de la ciudad. Además, es la primera planta de tratamiento de su tipo construida en la región Caribe colombiana, una gran obra que marca un hito en la historia del desarrollo sostenible de Montería”, expresó el ministro.
La construcción de la planta de tratamiento de aguas residuales también aporta a la transformación de Montería hacia una biodiverciudad, y además, convierte a la ciudad en un referente al ser un laboratorio para que la academia y los nuevos profesionales del área de saneamiento tengan un escenario de prácticas y de consolidación de competencias e investigaciones.
«Esta Planta de Tratamiento de Aguas Residuales que hoy inauguramos en Montería es un gran paso hacia la transformación ecológica del país. Va a beneficiar los modelos de desarrollo económico y sostenibles de Montería como biodiverciudad», dijo el ministro Carlos Eduardo Correa.
Agregó que con esta obra que se pone al servicio de la ciudad se está impactando en el tratamiento de aguas residuales en Montería, y además, «le estamos devolviendo a la ciudad un espacio verde único que estoy seguro en pocos años vamos a disfrutar”, puntualizó Correa. / Dic. 13, 2021. Após a adesão à Onda Roxa, imposta pelo governo estadual para todas as cidades de Minas Gerais, a Patrulha Pacto pela Vida implementou novas ações para reforçar o trabalho de conscientização e fiscalização nas ruas de Contagem. A partir de agora, viaturas estão circulando pela cidade com gravações alertando a população para que adote as medidas sanitárias e siga as novas restrições.
Além disso, a equipe da patrulha está sendo acompanhada por 16 mobilizadores sociais. Eles estão atuando em pontos de ônibus e nos corredores comerciais, ajudando a orientar pedestres e lojistas durante o dia. A equipe também conta com quatro termômetros, utilizados para aferir a temperatura das pessoas.
Na quarta-feira (17/03), toda essa equipe, incluindo a Guarda Civil, Polícia Militar e fiscais municipais, atuaram na regional Eldorado, especialmente na avenida João César de Oliveira, um dos principais centros comerciais da cidade. Na quinta-feira (18/03), a equipe percorreu toda a avenida VP1 e proximidades, na regional Nova Contagem.
Segundo o coordenador de Mobilização, Gilvan Batista, o trabalho de conscientização é um importante aliado da fiscalização, dada a gravidade da situação. “ Faço questão de informar os indicadores epidemiológicos. Hoje, a cidade chegou a marca de 99% de taxa de ocupação leitos UTI covid. É um dado que nos causa muita tristeza. Por isso, estamos informando e pedindo, incansavelmente, a colaboração da população”, ressaltou.
Para o comandante da Guarda Civil de Contagem, a patrulha está na rua para garantir que as pessoas cumpram de fato as novas medidas restritivas impostas pela Onda Roxa. “Percebemos que alguns comerciantes, após a passagem da Guarda, reabrem o comércio não essencial, sobretudo na avenida João César. Isso vem gerando bastante denúncia. Vamos trabalhar para coibir esse tipo de conduta e conter o avanço da covid-19”, reafirmou.

We celebrate light in our pictures. Understanding how light interacts with the camera is paramount to the work we do. The temperature, intensity and source of light can wield different photography effect on the same subject or scene; add ISO, aperture and speed, the camera, the lens type, focal length and filters…the combination is varied and multi-layered and if you know how to use them all, you will come to appreciate that all lights are useful, even those surrounded by a lot of darkness.

12 de Marzo del 2014 El Comisionado de Seguridad Pública, Vialidad, Transporte y Protección Civil de Municipio de Oaxaca de Juárez, José Luis Echeverría Morales, anunció que este jueves se implementará un operativo de seguridad en el Palacio Municipal capitalino con la finalidad de garantizar el orden, así como preservar la integridad física de los ciudadanos que acuden a realizar sus gestiones a este espacio, o bien de los mismos manifestantes.
Implemented by LWF and funded by BMZ through GIZ, the cash-for-work project began in January 2024 and will run for one year. It includes Cash for Work activities such as clearing the schoolyard (pictured here) and market, as chosen by the participants. Training sessions accompany these activities.
The project directly benefits 2,000 people in the East, with an equal split between off-camp refugees and host communities. Of the beneficiaries, 70% are women and 30% are men.
"This is Georgia's chosen approach to building effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels, and for Georgia we are pleased to say - it is working" - stated H.E. Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia at the United Nations while referring to the achievements and plans of the authorities towards e-governance, transparency and public service delivery.
High Level Meeting, first time ever held at the UN Headquarters, was organized by Georgia. The key-note event was supported by Estonia, South Korea, Belgium and United Nations Development Program (UNDP). Focus was made on the development of effective, accountable, transparent and inclusive institutions through e-governance and public service delivery.
Prime Minister elaborated on the progress made by the country towards the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals.

Standing between Litchfield and Barnett, this abandoned building once served the local farmers as a farm implement dealer. Long since closed for at least 2 decades, it has hosted a couple of rave parties. Its location in the middle of nowhere with very low density agricultural surrounding it, makes it likely that it will never find new life.
