The Government of Alberta has directed Alberta Health Services (AHS) to proceed carefully in implementing a portion of their plan.
There will be no job losses for nurses or for other front-line clinical staff. Any reduction in full-time equivalent positions will be in keeping with proactive disclosures announced in the fall of 2019.
A minimum of 100 management positions will be eliminated and a full review of senior AHS executives will be completed before the end of the fiscal year.
Alberta’s government has directed that only a portion of the actions identified in the implementation plan proceed, changes that are expected to yield up to $600 million in annual savings.
“The pandemic has changed everything. As a result, AHS has been directed to proceed carefully, putting patient care above all else. As a first step, AHS has been directed to eliminate a minimum of 100 management positions and to proceed with previously announced contracting work. This approach will allow us to strike the right balance between supporting the COVID-19 response and Alberta’s challenging fiscal situation.” said Tyler Shandro, Minister of Health.
Plans to contract out laundry services and community lab services, both announced in 2019, will continue. Requests for proposals (RFPs) for these services will be issued before the end of the year. About 70 per cent of community lab services is currently provided by the private sector, while about 68 per cent of health-care laundry is already cleaned by the private sector.
AHS has been given the go ahead to proceed with developing business cases for both environmental and food preparation services in 2022 and 2023. Both business cases will be subject to review and approval by the Government of Alberta.
AHS will also streamline non-clinical and back office operations, including optimizing distribution and inventory management and strengthening staff scheduling and overtime management systems. Job losses will be minimized in these areas.

We remain fully committed to continuing to improve the financial sustainability of the organization, and will implement some of the review recommendations in a strategic and paced approach that ensures front-line health-care workers and Albertans are supported throughout the pandemic.” said Dr. Verna Yiu, president and CEO, Alberta Health Services.

Hizo su doctorado en economía en la City University of New York. En 1973 ganó una beca postdoctoral en la Universidad de Yale donde enseño economía. Posteriormente fue asociado de investigación en la Brookings Institution en Washington, D.C. y después se trasladó a Río de Janeiro como funcionario de las Naciones Unidas para dirigir un proyecto de investigación sobre educación y desarrollo económico en diez países latinoamericanos, mientras enseñaba economía de la educación en la Universidad Católica de Río de Janeiro. En 1984 funda DevTech Systems, Inc., una firma consultora con sedes en las ciudades de Washington y Miami.

Social service, innovation/ inventions, writing, free technology to students for preparation of science exhibition projects, free technology to common men for their sustainability, preparation of big natural bonsai, technology for entrepreneurs and industrialists for innovative item are few works of Mihir Kumar Panda after his Government service.
. To overcome the difficulties of science and math, explanation in classes, innovator Panda has created few thousands of educational, societal and scientific innovations which helps teachers and students of the country and abroad.
Dr. Panda believes that though inventions/innovation has reached under thousands and thousands deep in the sea and high up in the space. It has reached on moon and mars, but unfortunately the sustainable inventions/innovation has not properly gone to the tiny tots and common people.

The Secretariat’s Americas section, the Peruvian Coalition for the ICC and the Center for International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights of the Peruvian Armed Forces organized a workshop to discuss draft legislation implementing the Rome Statute within the Peruvian Criminal Code. The workshop was attended by members of civil society, the ICRC’s Regional Delegation for Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru, MP Marisol Perez Tello, members of the Armed Forces, including Legal Advisors of the different Forces, members of the Police Force, a representative of the Joint Forces Command, and a representative of the Supreme Court.

The University of Maryland conducted a mass vaccination drill October 15, 2009. Nearly 1000 free seasonal flu shots were given out as officials tested their planning and implementation of this large-scale exercise. The drill took place at Ritchie Coliseum on campus.

As part of the implementation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) recommendations, the Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Adv. Michael Masutha, officiated the symbolic burial of three late members of Umkhonto Wesizwe (MK), Selby Mavuso, Sizwe Kondile and Johannes Sambo, at Freedom Park, Pretoria on Friday, 01 July 2016.
The symbolic reburial at Freedom Park was preceded by a ceremonial repatriation of the late MK members’ spirits. The ceremonial repatriation was led by their families and facilitated by the Department from the spot where the three MK members were killed on Thursday, 30 June 2016 at Lebombo Border Post, Komatipoort.
Selby Mavuso, Sizwe Kondile and Johannes Sambo were killed by members of the apartheid era Vlakplaas Unit during the late eighties. The Missing Persons Task Team has confirmed that their remains are not recoverable due to the manner in which they were disposed of after being killed.
