This is as far as Ive gotten and hubby put it up for me. Man its just such a daunting task to me this year!
Created with fd's Flickr Toys
Created for the Down Under Challenge. The kite image was provided to the group by Sir Frog, and the Blue Angels image is mine.
This is the only work I have done that has two names. "Crackling Lilacs" is one, and the other is "Destined to Be Distorted". This is a Polaroid SX-70 impressionistic, manipulated, and altered.
The MyStory part is that I was trying to learn how to do Polaroid SX-70 Manipulations. I had been given either faulty or no instruction or very nebulous instruction on how to do it. I learned by trial and error. I took this picture of lilacs in my yard. I heated it up too hot and too long, and the Polaroid started to bubble and crackle from the heat. I thought I should just throw it away. Then I said to myself, "Self, that just cost you about $1 and you are trying to learn. You can't ruin it any more than it has already been ruined. Why don't you just work with it some more?" I did work with it and the crackling part looked kind of like cobwebs. I went to Kinkos to have some laser prints made of a number of different manipulations I had done, and guess what? The only little thumbnail print on the whole page of 16 of them, that bled lines of color and smears outside of the boundary of the actual photo was none other than this one. That is when I gave it the second name. The picture itself wasn't affected, but I found it sort of like Twilight Zone that this particular one would have the only color printing error on the whole sheet.
This is a creative, unique and beautiful World in Hand Manipulation image.

This is from a photograph I took of the framed square circle poster produced by flickr member, jbum, a few years ago. He collected images from the squared circle group pool and made a large poster that looks like a glowing peach to me. See the original poster at: www.krazydad.com. This version is sold out now.
The next image also plays with the same poster, this time a different section and focus. Each are done using a version of the Amazing Circle technique. Use a square selection, then rotate 180 degrees. Next, go to Filter>Distort>Polar Coordinates. You may like to use the options as set in default there, or go to the other option.

I was really bothered about how the colours of this previous version of the image had altered when uploaded, so I thought I'd try a stronger colour palette just as a comparison.
I think I prefer this version. The colours have an over-the-top 'gone with the wind' feel to it :)
My model Sarah-Jane is shot against a neutral grey background and composited into the scene.
All backgrounds are themselves composites of various elements to create a 'hopefully' dramatic theatrical quality.

I know this has flaws, but I loved the way the light was shining in through my brother's windows. So I talked him into letting me take this shot in there. The lighting kind of ended up screwing me over, which was why there were flaws, but I wanted to upload it anyway.
I know this is my 3rd levitation in the past like week, but I'm really enjoying them :) And I miss Photoshopping a lot, and this is an easy way to do it.
Lost, yesterday, somewhere between sunrise and sunset, two golden hours, each set with sixty diamond minutes. No reward is offered, for they are gone forever.
Horace Mann [1796-1859]
This image was created/enhanced/interpeted for a challenge created for the Raleigh Flickr meetup group, RSG,
( flickr.com/groups/raleighsocial/discuss/72157594513369898/ )
by member, aperitive. We were given on of Will's favorite poetic passages, the Mann quote, to base the inspiration.
My own thoughts, overlaid as they emerge from this image:
Remembering those minutes, we carry their dust with us in our irrational headlong rush, even as we bemoan their loss...
125/365. One of the stranger decorations on our Christmas tree...
Looks much better if you hit "L" on your keyboard

INTRASOLAR NEWS BLIP -

A newly excavated piscatorial fossil found at the western edge of the North-Am Sector Condimental Plate has a noted Palaeoculinariast fishing for explanations.
Doctor Worcestershire said:
"I've got my best liquamen on it and I believe they're on a California Roll and will soon track down the sauce of this unusual fossil."
When asked to justify his confident assertion the Doctor sang, "If you knew Sushi, like I know Sushi..."

I keep finding these Goram little one-shot plastic fish sauce dispensers everywhere. Always full of sauce, they must rival McDonald's pickles for being discarded unused.
Should be really ripe in a millenium or two!
It is with some pleasure that I mention that the photoshop filter I used to fossilize the little beastie is named "Bass Relief".
After the photoshoot I squeezed the sauce into a pot plant (where it makes good fertiliser) and binned the plastic container. Don't want it making its way to the ocean...like some technological fish swimming downstream!
You can see the before and after comparison HERE
Met up with Sarah-Jane to shoot some new portrait material with the aim of working on my retouch skills and frequency separation techniques.
Set this up in my living room (just) with a portable 2m collapsible grey background.
All the time I worked on this image I was pretty much chanting to myself, 'don't overdo it, don't overdo it, don't...' - bugger! Did I over do it?

Yann is shot against a neutral grey background. It's all composited in Photoshop, layered and blended, with use of photo filters to give everything an overall balanced colour cast to help everything sit together.

This is a composite I put together for the Down Under Challenge. The target image of three barrels was provided to the group by gravityx9 (see comment box below). The character charging through the surf was me 32 years ago (I don't look like that any more...).
