Actually, a recently digitally modified old image of a prop from the film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, the movie in which we learn that Robin Hood, Azeem the Moor, and most of the Merry Men spoke with American accents. Erroll Flynn had tried to prepare us for this decades ago, but back then sound itself was such a novelty in movies that no one noticed accents. Sean Connery would have us believe Robin was Scottish.

The sword was displayed thus in the garden of Griff Thomas, visited years ago at the Duchess in Topsham. (...and a very pleasant visit it was. Thanks, Griff!) Game of Thrones has given such images new life. Valerian steel has an ageless appeal.

Some promo work for Chris and Yann. These boys make up the Rockabilly Duo 'The Bonneville Barons' who have one foot firmly in the vintage era, with the costumes to match.

Like the Sarah-Jane shoot. I shot the boys against a grey background and composited them into the scene incorporating various photoshop techniques to enhance contrast and the 'dodge and burn' look.

Strobist:

x1 Einstein640 boomed high just off centre right for main fill.

x1 AlienBees AB800 camera left and x1 AlienBees AB1600 camera right both shot through large softboxes to provide kicker light.

I made some basic enhancements (see below) during the Raw file conversion in Photoshop, then added minimal suggestions of depth/space, as well as suggestions of the winds that brought the once-lushly-pastel Hydrangea blossom to this state...using the Render>Clouds filter with noise added, and multiple Motion Blur passes with Fades... also some hue/saturation play and masking on that created background layer.

I was very drawn to the translucency in the curled up leaves most of all.

The 3D model of the bar you see here nearly killed my Mac. I purchased this model from the Daz website. I tried for hours to render this sucker out in Daz 3D and it crashed every time. Then tried to render it in Poser and couldn't get any joy. Finally, in desperation I tried to export it into Bryce and bingo. Took some mucking about with lighting but after a 2 hour render I got something I could use.

I used a soft focus on these delicate flowers. The next step was to sprinkle fairy dust. : )

I liked the one little perfect while blossom and the reddish swooshes of the "wasp that got away", but Still, it was a perfect composition for adding an "amazing circle".

I followed the procedure, first, as outlined here: brilliantdays.com/archives/2005/10/how_to_create_a.php ,

I Am using the basic wondrous polar coordinates transformations as beautiful in and of themselves, but also as starting points for grounding them in their origins and/or creating new relationships for them.

"Rust Dragon" with the kitchen sink! :D

Someday you’re gonna realize

One day you’ll see this through my eyes

By then I won’t even be there

I’ll be happy somewhere

Even if I cared

I know you don’t really see my worth

You think you’re the last guy on earth

Well I’ve got news for you

I know I’m not that strong

But it won’t take long

Won’t take long (cause)

Someday someone’s gonna love me

The way I wanted you to need me

Someday someone’s gonna take your place

One day I’ll forget about you

You’ll see, I won’t even miss you

Someday someday

Right now I know you can tell

I’m down and I’m not doing well

But one day these tears they will all run dry

I won’t have to cry, sweet goodbye

Well, I did say this one was annoying me. I think I discovered what it was. I've tweaked the colour and lighting slightly across the shoulder and arm and put more light behind him. It's not perfect, but I feel happier with this one.

Thanks all of you for your visit

For Macromondays theme Geometric Shapes

I have two calla blossoms open. Below is one that was still upright, and photographed against the fading daylight, as if drawn to it.

This one, however, is one that fell to the horizontal position and was JUST right for catching against the last rays.

More photos taken at Grangemouth and photoshopped with polar coordinates. I also added diffuse glow, which seems to work really well on industry images.

This was a job I did 7 years ago. Shot them in studio, deep etched and placed on this backdrop photo I shot for this photo.. unfortunately it took me 6 years to complete this job.. they never fully paid for this shot and it got shelved and last I though, dammit, gonna finish it.. also unfortunately it was shot on a canon 10D so its only 6MP..

They are quite big in South Africa, awesome rock n roll music.

I used Profoto lighting gear for this, two softboxes on either side, smoke effect generated later on a dropped in. still pretty cool and believable :)
