The sun is about to rise behind the Peloponnese mountains, painting the clouds from below with its golden light, over the Klisova lagoon at the town of Messologhi in central Greece.
My first shot on Flickr with my new mirrorless camera, the Sony a7R II. I wrote about why I'm making the jump in my new Why I'm Going Mirrorless blog post.

Dead Cider Gums, (Eucalyptus gunnii) on the Barren Tier, Tasmania.
Cider Gums are an endangered species. There are only a couple of small stands of living specimens in Tassie's Central Highlands.
From info I found on the Tas Uni site, I'm pretty sure that this stand was destroyed by fire in the early 1960s.

"....and it shall come to pass that afore the apocalypse durst descend upon the people of England that there will cometh three harbingers of doom. The first shall be that on a Sunday afternoon in early October the streetlights of Leeds shall appear strangely menacing".
Judging by the look of this one I'd best stock up on tinned food and tea bags.

Aromia moschata, Musk beetle
Size: 30 mm
This is the musk beetle form the last post shot from a different angle. I was able to turn the entire perch 120°, so all that really changed was the angle of the light – but that obviously makes a huge difference!
Stacked from 17 exposures in Zerene Stacker.

Brussels - Atomium II

The Atomium is a building in Brussels originally constructed for Expo 58, the 1958 Brussels World's Fair. Designed by the engineer André Waterkeyn and architects André and Jean Polak, it stands 102 m (335 ft) tall. Its nine 18 m (59 ft) diameter stainless steel clad spheres are connected so that the whole forms the shape of a unit cell of an iron crystal magnified 165 billion times. It is a museum.
Tubes of 3 m (9.8 ft) diameter connect the spheres along the 12 edges of the cube and all eight vertices to the centre. They enclose stairs, escalators and a lift (in the central, vertical tube) to allow access to the five habitable spheres which contain exhibit halls and other public spaces. The top sphere includes a restaurant which has a panoramic view of Brussels. CNN named it Europe's most bizarre building.
