Local temples to Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy, have extended their hours so worshippers can borrow from her.

Tradition is that Guanyin once a year provides the means to become wealthy.

But these are loans, and borrowers must clear the debt by the end of the lunar year by burning a red packet at the temple where a deal is made. Offerings, meanwhile, are welcome.

1937年港府於灣仔樂道成立香港官立高級工業學院,1947年改名為香港工業專門學院(工專),1957年遷往紅磡灣填海區,1972年併入新成立的香港理工學院,原有校舍已於1997年以前完成重建。

The Government Trade School, situated in Wood Road, was founded in 1937. The School became the Hong Kong Technical College in 1947. It was moved to the new campus in the Hung Hom reclamation area in 1957 and became the Hong Kong Polytechnic in 1972. The original premise was completely demolished in 1997.

An aerial photo taken during the WW2, it can be clearly seen that Hunghom was bombed and the sea reclamation or extension of the Kai Tak at the bottom.

The old KCR TST train station. (It was closed and moved to Hunghom in 1975).

Working in the freight yard which was located underground (or more accurately, under a shopping mall and various high-rise buildings). As of Spring 2014, these tracks are being removed.

The lighting came all of a sudden and I am lucky enough to got this image. Nothing really special, it's all about patience, and, film of couse. =)

During my last visit in Hong Kong, one of my friends from The Netherlands was also in the area and stayed in Hotel Icon in Hung Hom, Kowloon. He mentioned the view from the hotel's rooftop swimming pool view was astonishing. At first I didn't really believe him, I expected to only see a glimpse of the skyline and the rest being blocked by other skyscrapers.

After we went shooting at The Peak in Hong Kong Island, we decided to visit his hotel. Unfortunately the swimming pool area on the roof was already closed. Luckily we were able to convince one of the hotel staff members to let us in for a couple of minutes. During this time I managed to get a few fisheye shots of the magnificent view before we were asked to leave.

Sanjay, thanks for bringing me up there...it shows the true beauty of Hong Kong. Skyline, skyscrapers, reflections, trails and a lot of lights!

This is one of the oldest civil engineering structures in Hong Kong that remained in service after almost a century. Scheduled maintenance will certainly extend its life for much longer.

The tunnel is numbered T5 and it situates at the foot of the hill where the Chinese University is (amendment made to previous description).

Can anyone tell if this is the Hunghom Beach?
