The Tower is located at the northeastern tip of the university campus. Construction work began in 2009 and the whole project was completed in August, 2013. It has 15,000 square metres of net floor area and can accommodate about 1,800 staff and students. It houses a lecture hall, 10 classrooms, design studios and workshops, as well as exhibition spaces and a communal viewing lounge.
“The fluid character of the Innovation Tower is generated through an intrinsic composition of its landscape, floor plates and louvers that dissolves the classic typology of the tower and the podium into an iconic seamless piece. These fluid internal and external courtyards create new public spaces of an intimate scale which complement the large open exhibition forums and outdoor recreational facilities to promote a diversity of civic spaces.” - Zaha Hadid, Architect, Innovation Tower

WHAMPOA GARDEN
Whampoa Garden (Chinese: 黃埔花園) is the largest private housing estate located in Hung Hom, Kowloon, Hong Kong, and is built on the site of the former Whampoa Dockyards. It was built under Hutchison Whampoa's "garden city" concept and completed in 1991. There are 10,519 flats, ranging from 350 to 1,110 sq ft. (33 to 103 m²), in the 88 residential towers. The estimated population of the estate is approximately 50,000.
The estate consists of 12 complexes. Ten are residential/commercial mixed use, with a total of 88 residential towers. The other two are solely commercial use with several shopping arcades, two supermarkets (of which one in Site 12 is the first Superstore in Hong Kong), a cinema, dozens of restaurants, five primary schools, shops, recreational facilities (mainly sport) and a public transport terminus.

Probably the most beautiful park in Hong Kong.
I've been living in the nearby for over 30 years but I only know this nice nice place until today. It's officially named "King's Park High Level Service Reservoir Playground" (京士柏上配水庫遊樂場).
It's in fact located just next to Oi Man Estate. Ironically, there is no direct path to reach here from Oi Man. I could only find a kind of 'illegal' path to get inside. This trial path was found (or discovered) by an old man, 胡伯 (who's shooting the ball in the pic). He's living in Oi Man and he kept complaining about LCSD(康文署) who spent over HKD $200,000 to build fence for blocking the path, rather than using the same money to build a path!
They built such a beautiful park while they don't really encourage or attract people to make use of it... How ridiculous our government is!
A construction worker working on the bamboo scaffolding at the top floors of the Innovation Tower at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HK PolyU) [1].
Here you can also see more clearly how they tie the bamboo scaffolding, where they hold the nylon ties on their waists. The striped tshirt worn by the worker creates an interesting contrast of forms with the orthogonal thought organic forms of the bamboo scaffolding, which in turn creates an interesting contrast with the curved metal frame of the architectural structure.
The tower was originally due to be completed by the end of 2011, but some factors including the recent container ports strikes in Hong Kong have affected some of the materials shipment but it is expected to completed by mid year in 2013.
Some of you have asked me how far the 400mm give me, and here you see that from the ground level I can make out the Chinese characters on the construction site on the top floors.
The 400mm with the 7D with an APS-C sensor effectively gives me 400x1.6 = 560mm of zoom factor equivalent on a full frame. You can compare this to the wide angle shot in the previous image [2] shot with the 6D + 17mm — so now I have an effectively 30x optical zoom range using my two cameras, which is precisely why I now carry these two configs daily.

A 55-year-old block of flats in a run-down part of Kowloon collapsed, killing at least four people on January 29, 2010.
"I saw bits and pieces of earth and tiles sliding down the wall at the beginning. A woman was trying to climb out through the window. About 15 seconds later, the building fell like dominoes,'' a passer-by told Cable TV.
The 31st March was the last day of Hong Kong's Star Ferry service to Hung Hom. The contract had come to an end and, owing to declining passenger numbers, no company was willing to operate it.
Ironically the final days ferries were packed with everyone taking their final opportunity to ride on the iconic journey - including me!
"MOS Burger (モスバーガー), is a fast-food restaurant chain (fast-casual) that originated in Japan. It is now the second-largest fast-food franchise in Japan after McDonald's, and owns numerous overseas outlets over East Asia, including Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia, and until 2005, Hawaii. It is also the name of the standard hamburger offered by the restaurant, being its first product when the restaurant was founded in 1972."
