The hummingbirds have been putting on a good show this summer but it's been hard to get any decent pictures. I took this one morning when the sun was on a tree behind the hummingbird feeder. I was able to blur the background and did a tight crop.

The hummingbirds have been putting on quite a show for us this summer. We have three regulars and they are very territorial. This one was guarding the feeder and sat still long enough for me to get a picture.

We are lucky to have a pair of Ruby-throated Hummingbirds visit us each year. I placed a feeder right by the window so I would be able to capture one in flight. After many attempts with different camera settings, I was finally able to photograph them with results I was happy with. I also prefer the shots without the feeder so I spent hours waiting for them to back off so I could shoot before they quickly buzzed off and disappeared. I love this one because I feel as though he knew I really wanted that shot, and the eye contact for me was thrilling!
