Photos of a late afternoon spent with a large charm of hummingbirds. It was one of the coolest bird-related experiences I've ever had.

221 - Hummingbird: According to the Wikipedia, an average hummingbird flaps its wing 80 times per second. So 1/400 sec shutter speed means the wings moved about 1/5th of a flap during this exposure. I set up my camera on a tripod about 3 feet from the hummingbird feeder and triggered it with an infrared remote shutter release. I was about 10 feet from the camera (and 6 feet from the hummingbird). (This may not be the last picture of a hummer!) via 500px 500px.com/photo/42786958

Hummingbird Garden, Cloud Forest Biological Reserve. Monteverde, Costa Rica

As each day goes by both my wife and I swear that there are more and more hummingbirds out there. No, I don't think we are going crazy, but when they are really active, during the coolest part of the day, you would think there are a bunch of bees out there. I wonder if I can get the FCC or someone to send over a air traffic controller, lol.

Happy 4th of July.

Although not too patriotic, finally some hummingbird activity at my feeders.

This might become my new obsession.
