We have quite a few hummingbirds in our neighborhood and it's always fun watching them zip around and chase each other as they battle for rights to the best food source. This Anna's Hummingbird was coming in for a drink when we snapped this photo.

This one was about to zero in on some bees-baum.

Hummingbird photo in my back yard. I'm not sure if I have all of the hummingbirds in the 6 photos that I uploaded correctly identified. If not, let me know. IMG_2626

Say What?Taken in Snohomish Valley.

An early morning visitor to the garden at about 7.30am., a hummingbird hawk moth, the second I have seen this week in the garden. Had to use high ISO 6400 to be able to get a shot at 1/2500 sec which still not fast enough, seen here on phlox.

Hummingbirds have returned. They're not skirmishing around the feeder this year (so far). Feeding peacefully. Wonder what the difference is.

Smile on Saturday - Feathered Friends

This was one of our target species on the Arizona Monsoon Birds trip this July, and with patience we ended up doing well. This is the largest hummingbird in the ABA area and is quite impressive to see.

WARNING Feeder shot.

Pretty bleak day out shooting. No owls spotted again, Fort Washington drew a blank.

Back at the bird blind this guy was buzzing around.

I turned down the saturation on the feeder to make it less distracting.

Female Ruby Throated Humming bird

We have a hummingbird hawkmoth that has been visiting these lavender stems for a few days now. The trouble is that I never quite know when it will appear and also that it flits about so. Of all the shots I took today, this was the only one sharp enough to keep..That was after and hour or two waiting for it. I'll try again if it hangs around.

Hummingbird juvenile. "He went THAT way."

The vervain hummingbird is perhaps the second-smallest bird in the world after the smallest, the bee hummingbird, though some other tiny ones are close to it in size. It is about 6 cm (2.4 in) long, including the 1 cm (0.39 in) bill, and weighs about 2 to 2.4 g (0.071 to 0.085 oz).

I am sure everyone is tired of Hummingbirds, but I have quite a few more

A Hummingbird enjoys the flowers of my garden! They are so swift and very hard to capture. When they come it is always a pleasure to watch!
