This one acts and feeds differently from the original Mr. Bub. I guess we are calling him Second Bub.

By the way, the large bokeh circles on the right are from the camera. I did not photoshop them in.

We have quite a few hummingbirds in our neighborhood and it's always fun watching them zip around and chase each other as they battle for rights to the best food source. This Anna's Hummingbird was coming in for a drink when we snapped this photo.

This one was about to zero in on some bees-baum.

Eugenes fulgens

Savegre, Costa Rica

This bird has recently been renamed.

Hummingbirds are surely one of the world's most beautiful creatures.

Hummingbird photo that I took yesterday evening. IMG_1476

Although I will never divulge how much time I have invested in trying to capture the elusive hummingbird. They are so fast and really tricky to capture! I still have not gotten "the shot" I want...so my quest is still on.

I have Flickr friend Jenny Pics www.flickr.com/photos/jenny_photos coming tomorrow so I will catch up with you all shortly.

Hummingbird photo in my back yard. I'm not sure if I have all of the hummingbirds in the 6 photos that I uploaded correctly identified. If not, let me know. IMG_2626

Fun day at the fountain with a few good birds and a few great friends. Not sure how that drip happened, so I guess it was magic!

Thank you so much for your very kind comments and favorites. Thanks to Explore for allowing me to share with you.

Lucifer Hummingbird (Calothorax Lucifer)

One of my target birds in my Arizona trip was this Lucifer Hummingbird. There are not many pairs that occur in the United States and those that do are in the extreme southern parts of AZ, NM and TX.

Hummingbirds have returned. They're not skirmishing around the feeder this year (so far). Feeding peacefully. Wonder what the difference is.

Female Ruby Throated Humming bird

Female/immature in Tucson, Arizona.

We have a hummingbird hawkmoth that has been visiting these lavender stems for a few days now. The trouble is that I never quite know when it will appear and also that it flits about so. Of all the shots I took today, this was the only one sharp enough to keep..That was after and hour or two waiting for it. I'll try again if it hangs around.

Magnificent Hummingbird, Pacific Cloud Forest, Costa Rica

There's a very special place in Patagonia, Arizona - the backyard of the Paton family and now the Tucson Audubon's Paton Center for Hummingbirds. I had a chance to spend a few hours there, talking with fellow birders and photographers and seeing species after species of hummingbirds on their spring migration. This broad-billed hummingbird was one of the favorites of my visit.
