Cette zone humide riche en oiseaux fut créée en 1962 pour l’irrigation agricole ; le lac collinaire est le lieu idéal pour les passionnés de pêche, de nature et de photos. Il est classé Espace Naturel Sensible en zone humide, accueillant des oiseaux (202 espèces), des migrateurs qui nichent dans les roselières (47 espèces) et des poissons. 140 espèces de plantes y sont également présentes. Le sentier de découverte fait le tour du lac en empruntant les aménagements réalisés : tables, bancs, pontons de pêche, plateforme en bois, signalétique d'interprétation... Le passage dans la roselière, rive droite, est interdit pendant la période de nidification des oiseaux (du 1er février au 30 juin).

The Parson's chameleon (Calumma parsonii) is a large species of chameleon that is endemic to isolated pockets of humid primary forest in eastern and northern Madagascar.
A long-lived species, C. parsonii may not reach sexual maturity until they are 3 - 5 years of age and may live to be more than 20 years old. C. parsonii are native to the primary rainforests of the elevated eastern area of Madagascar, up to an altitude of about 7,000 feet. However, their range extends all the way down to the eastern coast, where trade winds bring moisture ladden air to the land.
Parson's are very stationary animals. Adults may go for long periods without moving except to eat, drink, mate or deficate. They also do not spend much time basking, like many other true chameleons. They will, however, sit in the sun for short periods and slightly flatten one side of their body toward the sun. These sunning sessions are rarely more than 10 - 15 minutes long and usually take place early in the morning as soon as the sun is available.
Near threatened according to the IUCN red list. The loss of humid forest, mainly through conversion from slash-and-burn agriculture but also due to logging, is a threat to this species. Much of the habitat of this species is extremely fragmented, and small forest fragments are unlikely to be viable to ensure persistence of this large chameleon that occurs at low densities. Wikipedia
After a tough climb in very humid conditions we were rewarded with some spectacular scenery at the top…unfortunately visibility was not perfect but good enough to get some decent shots…
A humid day earlier this week, abundant with flying insects, saw a flock of mainly juvenile swallows gliding through the garden as they fed on the wing. With twittering trills accompanying their twists and turns and spectacular landings on a neighbour's aerial they were sheer joy to watch.

A humid summer evening in August 2014 yielded some decent storm light as occasional pop-up storms moved through the area. Shortly after a brief shower, a lengthy S339 rolls south on the B&O at the 153.5 intermediates between Leipsic and Ottawa with a single ex-Conrail SD80MAC in charge.
Fast forward a year and half, and these signals are gone, the SD80MAC is now NS 7219, and the Q339 has been abolished.

Manakins are a family (Pipridae) of forest dwelling birds that are found in the warm humid regions Central and South America in a range that extends from Mexico to Argentina. There are about 60 species of Manakins nearly half of which are found in Colombia. The Golden-collared Manakin with its golden beard is an especially beautiful and tiny bird about 10 cm (4 inches) in length. The Golden-collared Manakin is found exclusively in Colombia and Panama.
On a humid summer night in West Haven and still feeling like it's in the 90s, a mixed bag of five locomotives is in charge of Providence & Worcester train CHFP. Tonight's freight has 99 loads of stone for Fresh Pond Yard in Queens, NY, which includes 31 ballast hoppers for the Long Island Railroad. The locomotive consists of C40-8 4052, C40-8 4051, B40-8 4004, Connecticut Southern SD40-2 3399, and C40-8 4050.

Very humid in the woods today, had to keep cleaning condensation off the lens. Off the footpath down into the oldest part of the woodland here. Good job I had my boots and walking pole as there were some steep sides.

Reflection is the phenomenon where light or other forms of energy bounce off a surface and return to the observer.
In the case of this photograph, light waves hitting the bird’s image on the water’s surface bounce back to our eyes, creating a mirrored representation of the bird. This occurs due to the laws of optics, specifically the angle of incidence being equal to the angle of reflection.
Reflection is crucial in various scientific fields, from optics to acoustics, playing a fundamental role in understanding how waves behave when encountering different surfaces and mediums !

Au point où le canal EDF et la Durance se remarient pour former une retenue, comme ici à Curbans, de vastes zones humides permettent le développement des roseaux et des arbres qui colonisent les graviers accumulés en ce lieu de moindre courant. Une faune abondante y trouve aussi un abri favorable.
Au-delà du hameau qui borde le lac, on distingue de vastes champs de lavande, le développement de cette culture profitant en somme du réchauffement climatique.

We've had a long spell of extremely hot and humid weather recently, and on this particular morning we had a brief downpour, increasing the humidity level even further. I felt as though I was walking in a tropical rain forest, and although it was extremely uncomfortable for my walk the steamy humid conditions created some beautiful effects. Boldly patterned, rather chunky sparrow of humid evergreen forest and edge in tropical lowlands. Usually on or near the ground in shady understory and thickets; often in pairs. Bright orange bill virtually glows in the dark; also note the bold black-and-white head pattern and black chest setting off the white throat. No similar species in its lowland range.

Zhangjiajie is known for its hot, humid summers and frequent rainfall. When we arrived, a heavy downpour had just ended. As the rain subsided, the sun emerged, casting its golden sunset light over the misty mountains.

It's been a rainy/ humid summer and my yard has taken to growing all different kinds of mushrooms and fungusy stuff. I thought these mushrooms were interesting looking because they look like little sombreros. The dew stays on the grass for most of the day as it's too humid to evaporate!
On a humid Ohioan Summer morning, Wheeling & Lake Erie 218, the Brewster to Rook Manifest, rolls downhill over Cross Creek near New Alexandria, Ohio. In a few short miles, the Conductor will set out most of its train in the yard at Mingo Junction, including the 3rd and 4th locomotives in the consist. After the set out, the locomotives will run light power up the slide to make an LPG pickup before continuing over the Ohio River into West Virginia toward PA. Yesterday morning's train had two out of three of the GM Demonstrators in the lead, which have been rumored to be repainted soon.

It has been very humid here so it was too uncomfortable to do anything outside until late afternoon. Took the little boys to Lowell Lake for a short walk. Carl and Pokey got quite a bit ahead of me (and Chico) and I had to tell them to wait up for us.
But it worked out since I was able to get this shot of Pokey to use for this month's challenge.

Fanlo est une municipalité et une ville espagnole appartenant à la province de Huesca et à la région de Sobrarbe , dans la communauté autonome d' Aragon . Il est situé dans la vallée de Vió et dans sa commune se trouve le massif du Mont Perdu (3355 m). Avec une densité de 0,9 hab/km², c'est l'une des communes les plus inhabitées de la région.

Géographie
Le terrain est composé d' ardoises et de schistes paléozoïques et de sols de terre brune humides. Le climat alpin prédomine . La végétation est principalement constituée de forêts de pins, de chênes, de hêtres et de sapins.
C'est la capitale de la vallée de Vió . La commune borde Bielsa et Puértolas à l'est, Boltaña au sud, Fiscal , Broto et Torla-Ordesa à l'ouest et la France au nord. Dans ses limites naissent les rivières Arazas , Aso et Vellos , toutes affluentes du Cinca . Une partie de son territoire communal est occupée par le parc national d'Ordesa

Parmi son patrimoine naturel abondant, se distingue la forêt Pardina del Señor , située sur la route qui relie Fanlo à Sarvisé . Elle est considérée comme la forêt la plus spectaculaire de toute l’Europe en automne. Il présente un mélange d'épicéa, de hêtre, d'érable, de tremble, de noisetier, de sorbier des bois, de frêne, de cerisier, de pin sylvestre, de bouleau, de buis ou de chêne à galle dans une combinaison parfaite qui fait ressembler les montagnes à un tableau pointilliste. Ce n'est qu'au Canada , aux États-Unis ou au Japon que vous pouvez visiter des forêts similaires.
It's been very hot and humid in Northeast Ohio this past week so I made sure to get out early in the morning but even so it started to wear on me after only a short time out in the field. I decided to seek some shade and made my way under some large trees. A flurry of activity up above caught my eye and to my delight there were a pair of Cedar Waxwings foraging above. It wasn't until I got home and put this up on my computer that I discovered this capture. Sometimes lucky is better than good. 😁
Humid summer brings out the ornamental gingers in my Gold Coast hinterland garden. A little dash of muted sunshine and a recent shower gives them a tumescent glow. A few ants join the apparent feast.
It was oppressively humid today - so much so that wet laundry doesn't dry on the line - and there was a steady procession of ominous looking clouds speeding by overhead. It did eventually rain but we're stuck with the unsettled weather until the end of the week. In the mean time, there was just a glint of sunlight between the clouds this afternoon - backlighting this small cactus on our deck and reflecting on the water droplets in the background.
