2008 - Seattle/Vancouver trip

Day 4 - Vancouver

06.22.08

day 174 of 366

Events of day 4:

-ate dim sum across from our hotel in Richmond

-visited Capilano Suspended Bridge (more pictures to come from there)

-then drove to the Chinese Garden in Vancouver but side tracked and end up at the Waterfront to unwind and enjoy the scenery

-drove to Chinese Garden

-took a nap at a park while waiting for our reservation at West Restaurant

-ate some awesome tasting menu at West Restaurant (rated the best restaurant in Vancouver)

-went back to the hotel and rested for the rest of the night

Erica and I went to Squaw Creek State Park and Golf Course to go take some pictures. I needed to test an old Nikon FM that I re-sealed to make sure the light leaks were fixed; sure enough, they were.

Fuji Superia X-Tra 400 @ ISO 200 developed in Caffenol-C (16min @ 24C) with Chlorine bleach solution step before fix. Negatives were increadibly hard to scan and a lot of work was done in post to bring the photographs back to what I was envisioning for them.

Pensacola is the westernmost city in the Florida Panhandle, and the county seat of Escambia County, Florida. As of 2018, the population was estimated to be 52,713. Pensacola is the principal city of the Pensacola Metropolitan Area, which had an estimated 494,883 residents as of 2018. Pensacola is one of the largest metropolitan areas in the Gulf Coast region, the largest between New Orleans and Tampa.

Pensacola is the site of the first Spanish settlement within the borders of the continental United States in 1559, predating the establishment of St. Augustine by 6 years, although the settlement was abandoned due to a hurricane and not re-established until 1698. Pensacola is a seaport on Pensacola Bay, which is protected by the barrier island of Santa Rosa and connects to the Gulf of Mexico. A large United States Naval Air Station, the first in the United States, is located southwest of Pensacola near Warrington; it is the base of the Blue Angels flight demonstration team and the National Naval Aviation Museum. The main campus of the University of West Florida is situated north of the city center.

The area was originally inhabited by Muskogean-speaking peoples. The Pensacola people lived there at the time of European contact, and Creek people frequently visited and traded from present-day southern Alabama. Spanish explorer Tristán de Luna founded a short-lived settlement in 1559. In 1698 the Spanish established a presidio in the area, from which the modern city gradually developed. The area changed hands several times as European powers competed in North America. During Florida's British rule (1763–1781), fortifications were strengthened.

It is nicknamed "The City of Five Flags", due to the five governments that have ruled it during its history: the flags of Spain (Castile), France, Great Britain, the United States of America, and the Confederate States of America. Other nicknames include "World's Whitest Beaches" (due to the white sand of Florida panhandle beaches), "Cradle of Naval Aviation", "Western Gate to the Sunshine State", "America's First Settlement", "Emerald Coast", "Red Snapper Capital of the World", and "P-Cola".

This image was scanned from a glass slide or photograph in the Williamson Collection of some 450 photographic glass slides and other items, which was acquired by the archives section of the Auchmuty Library. The collection was assembled by Archdeacon A. N. Williamson, who served for many years in the diocese of Newcastle, as well as travelling extensively in the South Pacific area. The collection vividly portrays town and country life in Australia, particularly in Sydney and the Hunter Valley, soon after the turn of the century. The collection also illustrates life in Japan, Papua New Guinea, Nauru and Fiji, from the turn of the century until the mid-1930s.

2014-02-16 Sichtbar werden mit Folie Gradinger, Tipp3-Bundesliga powered by T-Mobile, 23.Runde, FC Admira Wacker Mödling vs. SK Rapid Wien, Ergebnis 2:1 (0:0), Maria Enzersdorf, BSFZ-Arena, 5.461 Zuschauer, Schiedsrichter Dieter Muckenhammer, Photografer Gerhard Möhsner, Bilderdatenbank Fotoblitz hier klicken

Admira besiegt zuhause Rapid!

Aufstellung Admira Wacker: Kuttin - Zwierschitz, Windbichler, Schösswendter, Auer - Ebner - Ouedraogo (69. D. Toth), Thürauer (94. Pranjic), Schwab, Domoraud - R. Schicker (60. B. Sulimani)

Aufstellung Rapid Wien: Novota - Trimmel, Sonnleitner, Dibon, Schrammel - Petsos, Boskovic - S. Hofmann (89. Wydra), Schaub (82. Boyd), G. Burgstaller - Sabitzer (79. Starkl)

Tore: 1:0 (78.) B. Sulimani 2:0 (89.) B. Sulimani 2:1 (94.) Boyd

Rote Karte: Boskovic (66./Torraub)

Gelbe Karten: Domoraud bzw. S. Hofmann, Wydra

still i like that she sails with me...

I had a different angle in mind for this shot. I wanted it to be a shot of my back from below the waist down but that didn't really look so great. I also wanted the skirt to look like a pencil skirt and it didn't but I like it!

I have been on a roll lately posting pictures! woohoo

The Seattle Flickr Meetup Group had a garage shoot. Some of the models that night were belly dancers. This is Joanne and she was such a positive uplifting person, we talked at length about how special dance is to her and how it makes for a better life.

The first book in the Cosmic Trigger trilogy reveals the enlightening secret of the Illuminati while presenting the daunting metaphor of Chapel Perilous where the unprepared can get lost in a spirited journey.

Volume Two of the series presents the metaphor of the Bridge and the lessons of Bob’s early life that brought him to the wisdom of the Model Agnostic’s perspective. In Bob’s typical wide-ranging narratives, we learn, among other mind-blowing anecdotes, about the similarities between the Pope of Rome and the Wizard of Oz. Don’t miss this explosion of thought, when for the second time, Bob pulls the Cosmic Trigger.

The Gemäldegalerie (Painting Gallery) in Berlin is one of the largest and best Old Master's art museums in the world. Top highlights include early German artists, Flemish painters, and the Dutch Golden Age (16 Rembrandt paintings). The Italian collection is equally impressive with a fantastic Renaissance display by all major artists and fine works from the Baroque and Rococo eras.

The village of G·sadalur and the island of Mykines in the background. Until a tunnel was built in 2004, the 16 residents living in G·sadalur had to take a strenuous hike or horseback over the steep 400-meter mountain in order to make it to the other villages. It was a rare sunny day in the Faroe Islands and I had to wait until the clouds rolled in to provide some softer light. I decided to go with a long exposure (1 minute 10 seconds) to illustrate the force of the wind and a serene sea among the isolated islands. (Photo and caption by Ken Bower)

THIS IS ZAMBIA by PilAto

Nov 7, 2019 6:00–6:15PM

Theresa Lang Community and Student Center - Room I202, 2nd Floor

Arnhold Hall

55 West 13th Street, NYC

Coming to us from Zambia, the Hip Hop recording artist PilAto has been called Zambia’s Voice of Inequality. His contribution to WHO OWNS THE WORLD? is a remake of Childish Gambino’s THIS IS AMERICA. PilAto’s provocative piece, THIS IS ZAMBIA, is his take on the power captured by multinational corporations and the painful apathy of politicians who fail to build a better tomorrow with all of us, be that in Zambia or the United States. PilAto whispers and roars: Is this Zambia?
