Admiral setzt auf Mittel- und Osteuropa
Börsengang dient Akquisitionsplänen – Aktien kosten zwölf Euro
Wien/Gumpoldskirchen (pte/20.06.2001/14:11) - Der österreichische Sportwettenanbieter Admiral Sportwetten www.admiral.at will mit dem Erlös aus seinem Börsengang vor allem die internationale und nationale Expansion vorantreiben. "Wir wollen in Mittel- und Osteuropa Marktführer werden", so Admiral-Vorstand Oliver Heinzel anlässlich der IPO-Pressekonferenz am Mittwoch. In Österreich gelte es, die "weißen Flecken" zu beseitigen und in den nächsten zweieinhalb Jahren das Filialnetz zu verdoppeln. Auch der Online-Bereich werde intensiviert, allerdings nur als Ergänzung zum Offline-Bereich. Die Zeichnungsfrist für die Aktien hat heute, Mittwoch, begonnen und dauert bis 4. Juli. Ab 11. Juli werden die Papiere im Specialist Segment der Wiener Börse gehandelt. Der Ausgabepreis wurde mit zwölf Euro festgesetzt.
Insgesamt werden 1,5 Mio. junge Aktien platziert, weitere 360.000 Stück stehen als Greenshoe zur Verfügung. Mit dem Börsengang erhöht Admiral sein Grundkapital um 50 Prozent. Nach dem IPO werden sich rund 40 Prozent der Aktien im Streubesitz befinden, 56 Prozent bleiben beim Admiral-Mutterkonzern Novomatic. Als Konsortilaführer fungiert die Societe Generale, Bluebull übernimmt die Gesamtkoordination der Emission.
Für die kommenden fünf Jahre erwartet Admiral ein jährliches Wachstumspotenzial von 15 Prozent in Österreich. "64 Prozent aller Österreicher haben noch keine Sportwett-Filiale in ihrem Einzugsbereich", meinte Heinzel. International will sich das Unternehmen vorrangig auf die CEE-Staaten (Central and Eastern Europe) konzentrieren. Gerade in dieser Region gebe es keinen ernstzunehmenden anderen Player, daher seien die Chancen in diesen Märkten enorm. Die Expansion soll vor allem durch Akquisitionen,und den Aufbau eines flächendeckenden Franchise-Systems in den entsprechenden Ländern vorangetrieben werden. Als erste Schritte wurden bereits Filialen in Znaim und Prag eröffnet sowie ein Tochterunternehmen für Software-Entwicklung in Krakau gegründet. Die nächsten Filialen sind in Polen, der Slowakei und den baltischen Staaten geplant.
Ein wichtiger Schritt war der Markteintritt in Großbritannien. Dort wird rund ein Drittel des gesamteuropäischen Wettgeschäftes generiert (rund 242 Mrd. Schilling). Die Übernahme eines Sportwettenanbieters im Londoner Stadtteil Fulham werde in den nächsten Tagen definitiv abgeschlossen, so Heinzel. "Somit erhalten wir auch eine Wettlizenz in Großbritannien."
Großbritannien sei aber auch für das Online-Geschäft interessant. Die Wettabgaben auf Sportwetten sollen in den nächsten Monaten deutlich gesenkt werden. Auf Grund der liberalen Gesetzgebung sind künftig auch neue kasinoähnliche Wettprodukte im Online-Bereich möglich. Sämtliche Internet-Aktivitäten werden daher in London gebündelt, um die Steuervorteile optimal nutzen zu können.
Als wirklicher Konkurrent für Betandwin.com www.betandwin.com , den österreichischen Marktführer im Online-Wettbereich sieht sich Heinzel allerdings nicht. "Betandwin hat keine Angst vor uns und wir haben keine Angst vor ihnen." Obwohl Admiral das Online-Geschäft aktivieren will, stehe das Offline-Geschäft weiterhin im Vordergrund. "Wir verkaufen keine Wetten, sondern Emotionen und Nervenkitzel." Online-Wetter dagegen achten nur auf die Quoten. Im Jahr 2000 wurde ein Umsatz von 1,1 Mrd. Schilling erzielt, knapp vier Prozent davon entfielen auf das Internet. Im ersten Quartal wurden bereits elf Prozent durch Online-Wetten erwirtschaftet. "Wir haben in diesem Bereich aber keine klaren Umsatzziele, und sehen das Online-Geschäft eher als Ergänzung. Interessant wird der Markt erst in einigen Jahren, nämlich dann wenn unsere Online-Konkurrenten ihre enormen Marketing-Aktivitäten zurückschrauben müssen. Durch die hohe Offline-Bekanntheit von Admiral (33 Prozent) können wir unsere Marke ohne grossen Aufwand im Netz platzieren", sagte Heinzel.

erhält für aufgestellte Automaten, will Anwalt Berger in Vertretung von Kleinaktionären vor Gericht
gehen
Wien - Vertreter des Sportwettenanbieters Admiral bzw. des Mutterkonzerns Novomatic könnten sich
demnächst vor Gericht wiederfinden. Anwalt Kurt Berger, der zusammen mit anderen Investoren aus
Österreich, Deutschland und der Schweiz gut zehn Prozent der Admiral-Aktien hält, will das Gericht
einschalten.
Die Investorengruppe sieht Admiral als "extremen Sanierungsfall"; unprofitable Standorte müssten
geschlossen, bevor neue aufgesperrt werden, sonst gehe das Unternehmen "den Bach hinunter".
Besonders ärgert Berger, dass die Gastronomieumsätze nicht Admiral zufließen, sondern Novomatic,
und dass Novomatic auch die Einnahmen aus den in den Wettcafés aufgestellten Glücksspielautomaten
zu hundert Prozent behält. Bei der Hauptversammlung am Donnerstag will Berger einen Antrag auf
Sonderprüfung stellen, weiß aber, dass er die notwendige einfache Mehrheit nicht schaffen wird.
Novomativ hält 74,6 Prozent der Admiral-Anteile, der Rest ist Streubesitz. Berger zum
STANDARD: "Wird der Antrag abgelehnt, versuchen wir unsere Interessen vor Gericht durchzusetzen."

Admiral Sportwetten sei im Übrigen das Wettgeschäft und nicht die Gastronomie oder das Glücksspiel.
Heuer sei eine Ergebnisverbesserung geplant, das Nettoergebnis werde aber voraussichtlich erst 2006
positiv sein, sagte Reibenspiess. Im abgelaufenen Geschäftsjahr hat Admiral bei Wetterlösen von
124,1 Mio. Euro einen Verlust von 2,5 Mio. Euro (Ebit) verkraften müssen. Das Unternehmen ist
Eigenangaben zufolge mit einem Marktanteil von rund 40 Prozent im Filial-Wettgeschäft die Nummer
eins in Österreich.
Die besten Wachstumschancen ortet Vorstand Jürgen Irsigler im Ausland, wohin man noch heuer
expandieren will. In Deutschland stehe im Spätsommer eine Entscheidung zur Marktliberalisierung für
Sportwettenanbieter an; in Osteuropa betreibe man bereits eine Test-Filiale in Rumänien, weitere
Markteintritte seien in Polen, Kroatien, Lettland und Bulgarien geplant.
Bis Ende 2005 soll die Zahl der Filialen in Österreich von derzeit 129 auf 150 (inklusive Partner-
Filialen) steigen.

Wien - Die Aktionäre des börsenotierten niederösterreichischen Sportwettenanbieters Admiral Sportwetten haben bei der heutigen Hauptversammlung den vom 10-Prozent-Aktionär und Rechtsanwalt Kurt Berger eingebrachten Antrag auf Sonderprüfung mit einer knapp 80-prozentigen Mehrheit wie erwartet abgelehnt. Berger will nun vor Gericht ziehen.
Der Antrag auf Sonderprüfung werde nun beim Landesgericht Wiener Neustadt eingebracht, sagte Bergers Sprecher Dieter Riedlinger am Donnerstag zur APA. Der 10-Prozent-Aktionär wirft der Konzernmutter Novomatic vor, Admiral wesentliche Umsatz- und Ertragspotenziale vorzuenthalten, der Wettanbieter - ein "Sanierungsfall" - schreibe daher noch immer Verluste. Admiral betreibe nur das Wettgeschäft selbst, die Glücksspielautomaten und die Gastronomie würden hingegen von anderen Novomatic-Gesellschaften betrieben, so der Vorwurf Bergers. Novomatic hält 74,64 Prozent an Admiral.
Landesgericht prüft
Das Landesgericht Wiener Neustadt muss nun entscheiden, ob Bergers Antrag auf Sonderprüfung gerechtfertigt ist. Berger will u.a. klären, ob es "Verdachtsmomente" dafür gibt, dass an Novomatic oder deren Töchter (besonders die HTM Hotel und Tourismus Management GmbH) Einlagen unzulässigerweise zurückgewährt worden seien. Weiters soll geprüft werden, ob in Wettfilialen, in denen Admiral Geschäfte betreibt, Glückspielautomaten aufgestellt sind, die "nicht dem Reglement für das so genannte kleine Glücksspiel entsprechen" und ob dadurch der Admiral wesentliche Umsätze und Erträge entgangen sind, heißt es in dem der APA vorliegenden Antrag.
Der Admiral-Vorstand selbst sieht keinen Anlass für die beantragte Sonderprüfung. "Aus unserer Sicht ist die Sonderprüfung abzulehnen, wir haben nichts zu verbergen", sagte Finanzvorstand Christian Reibenspiess zuletzt. Man stehe dem Aktionär Berger wie allen anderen Aktionären "für jede Information" zur Verfügung. Das Kerngeschäft der Admiral Sportwetten sei im übrigen das Wettgeschäft und nicht die Gastronomie oder das Glücksspiel. 2006 will der Vorstand das Unternehmen wieder in die Gewinnzone führen.
HV gab grünes Licht für Kapitalrahmen
Die Aktionäre haben in der HV dem Vorstand ein genehmigtes Kapital von 1,915 Mio. Euro eingeräumt. Dieser Kapitalrahmen kann innerhalb von 5 Jahren in einer oder mehreren Tranchen als Bar- oder Sachkapitalerhöhung ausgenützt werden. Ebenfalls zugestimmt haben die Aktionäre der Verlängerung eines Vorratsbeschlusses für ein Aktienrückkaufprogramm: Der Vorstand ist damit ermächtigt, Aktien der Gesellschaft im Ausmaß von bis zu 10 Prozent des Grundkapitals bis 15. Juni 2007 zurückzukaufen.

Hi everyone, feels like I've be M.I.A, recently. So many cakes and so little time to share photos.
I recently did a cake for a repeat client. Because I couldn't make the digger myself (due to time constraints/other cake orders), she had a fabulous idea of purchasing a dump truck, and me making the cake in the back to represent a big pile of dirt!
So I made a gluten free mud cake, with cookie & cream filling and gluten free chocolate cookies crushed on the outside (so her sister-in-law could eat it). I think it turned out great.
Gluten free, egg free, nut free.

Cast at the Fort Pitt Foundry in 1862 by Mr. Charles Knapp, the Dictator was used for a short time in the summer and fall of 1864 during the siege operations in front of Petersburg, Virginia.
The 13-inch Mortar was intended for siege and fortifications and not field work.
The Dictator, weighing in at 17,120 lbs. was made portable for limited field use during the Seige of Petersburg by being mounted on a railroad car, specially strengthened with extra beams and iron rods to withstand the strain of firing.
The mortar was placed on the car and run up the tracks from City Point along the City Point and Petersburg Railroad, to a point in the ravine in rear of what is now generally known as Battery No. 5, near the Jordan House, a side track from the main road being constructed especially for the purpose of moving the Dictator.
The men of Company G of the 1st Connecticut Heavy Artillery, served the Dictator. A curve in the tracks allowed the Dictator's gunners to stay mobile and adjust the plane of fire. The power of this weapon was enough to shatter most field magazines and bomb-proofs, and it is credited with causing the Confederate gunners to withdraw their attempts at enfilade fire along the right of the Union line.
The Dictator fired a shell weighing 218 lbs., with a charge of 20 lbs. of powder.
At an angle of 45 degrees the range is set down in the Ordinance Manual at 4,325 yds., but, if it is true that the shell thrown by the Dictator reached Centre Hill, in Petersburg, then it must have been carried at least 2.7, miles, or 4,752 yds.

"Soldiers on both sides hated the mortars. 'These mortar shells were the most disgusting, low-lived things imaginable,' declared W. W. Blackford, a Confederate engineer. 'There was not a particle of the sense of honor about them; they would go rolling about and prying into the most private places in a sneaking sort of way.' 'Mortar shells fly into the works occasionally,' a Maine soldier confirmed, 'at which times we get out in double-quick time.' Added a Georgia infantryman, 'Old veterans can never forget the noise those missiles made as they went up and came down like an excited bird, their shrieks becoming shriller and shriller, as the time to explode approached.'"
"A soldier in the 35th Massachusetts described a mortar attack: 'In the daytime the burst of smoke from the Confederate mortars could be seen; a black speck would dart into the sky, [and] hang a moment, increasing in size, rolling over and over lazily, and the revolving fuze [would begin] to whisper audibly, as it darted towards us, at first, softly, "I'm a-coming, I'm a-coming"; then louder and more angrily, "I'm coming! I'm coming!;" and, at last, with an explosion to crack the drum of the ear, "I'm HERE!"
"Mortar batteries alternated with tubed guns all along the front. Some artillery even acquired nicknames: one seven-gun siege battery just south of Fort Morton was called the Seven Sisters, while Union soldiers referred to several different artillery pieces as The Petersburg Express, most notably the thirteen-inch heavy mortar that was also know as the Dictator. This gun, the only one of its size at Petersburg, went into action on July 9, and remained active until September, firing 218 times, from various positions. 'It made the ground quake," one infantryman swore.'"

Ending our three month block of shows at Lopo Gallery, Spoke Art closes out 2010 with an ambitious showing of work by an impressive roster of emerging and established street and fine artists. Featuring three separate rooms of site-specific works and two floor-to-ceiling walls of free form wheatpastes, Urban Osmosis goes beyond your standard street art show to present a selection of captivating installations and selected indoor/outdoor works.

About the artists:
Kelly Towles is an internationally acclaimed artist living and working in the Washington DC area. In 2006, Towles not only participated in Wooster Collective’s historic Spring Street Project but also curated his own show “Wall Snatchers” in Washington DC, a show that featured the likes of Faile, Bask and Tes One. Since then, Towles has shown throughout the United States at galleries such as 1988 in Los Angeles as well as Yosi Sergant’s Manifest Hope and Manifest Equality shows in Denver, DC and Los Angeles. For this show, Towles will be traveling to San Francisco where he will be taking over an entire room of the gallery for an on-site and site specific installation.
Eddie Colla and D Young V
Eddie Colla and D Young V are two of the Bay Area’s fastest rising stars in the street art world. Eddie Colla’s politically driven works have been featured in numerous publications such as Giant Robot Magazine and Shepard Fairey’s Art for Obama book. D Young V’s post apocalyptic imagery and gritty style have earned him multiple shows with San Francisco powerhouse White Walls, where he’ll have a solo show in 2011. For Urban Osmosis, Eddie Colla and D Young V will be joining forces to present a series of collaborative works which will be presented in an installation heavy manner. These two artists will be taking over a room of the gallery themselves.
GATS
GATS is one of the West Coast’s most prolific and rampant graffiti artists. His iconic characters litter the landscape from coast to coast and have been spotted in seven different countries around the world. For this show, GATS and EndlessCanvas.com will be curating their own room of the gallery where they’ll be presenting the work of GATS alongside notables Ras Terms, Safety First, Nina, Dead Eyes, Cuss and Political Gridlock.
Sharktoof
Sharktoof is arguably the most ambitious and versatile street artist currently working in the Los Angeles area. In 2010 he has shown with fine art gallery LeBasse Projects as well as cultural mecca Barracuda. His first monograph will be released in 2011. For Urban Osmosis, Sharktoof will be traveling up to San Francisco for a presentation of two and three dimensional works as well as an ambitious street campaign.
Rounding out the roster, San Francisco based legends Chor Boogie, Eon75, Sfaustina, Hugh Leeman and Zoltron have all created specific original fine art pieces for Urban Osmosis. Each artist has created works on 4’x4’ plywood panels in medium varying from spray paint to wheatpaste to mixed media. These unique pieces will be on display in the main room of Space Gallery.
Finally, two floor-to-ceiling walls of the gallery will be devoted to impromptu wheat pasting, allowing the artists in the show to work off each other in an open dialogue of homemade glue and collaboration. Following the show’s opening, the collaborative wall will be removed and reinstalled on the streets of San Francisco.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Adam Elmakis for a future RAWtalk the other day. For those of you who don't know Adam, he is the photographer who came up with the lens bracelet and has built a huge following across social media. You will find out a lot more about him when we release our interview.
Adam was in town with the band A Day To Remember so we made sure we were able to get together to meet for the first time. After our interview I asked if I could come to the show that night and Photograph the Photographer.
I love setting out with a photographic task in my mind. In this case my goal was to capture solid images of Adam at work. I have never seen him work so I was not sure what to expect. But that's what's fun about photography, the attempt to quickly adapt to someones style and be able to capture them.
This was not one of the easier shoots I have attempted. First off we were shooting at the Troc which is an old venue with not a ton of quality lighting. So if the stage light is not the best to start with how do you think it will be on the photographer who is not the main focus. But again that's what's fun about going out and shooting, you never know what you will need to do.
I think the shoot went extremely well. My goal when I go out to shoot is to capture a handful of "keepers" that tell a story. I am not really focused on just getting "the one" shot, I want to tell a story across multiple winners. I feel I was able to accomplish that once all the images were edited.
Speaking of editing I decided to let you watch me edit my stared images. But before I did that I discussed the keepers from the shoot, the images that I think tell a well rounded story of what I was trying to capture. The images that I selected show you everything from wide shots to tight shots to the pit and backstage. That to me is what makes a well rounded photo story.
We all have our own style for editing and our reasonings for how we accomplish our final results. Some people have commented in the past when watching me edit that I just move sliders until I see what I like. Honestly that is partially true, what's wrong with moving sliders and seeing the results. What they don't realize is I have an idea before I touch any slider about what direction I want to take.
My thought process between sharing my entire editing process with you is the fact that I am going to edit my images anyway. I might as well record the process along with giving you more insights into the how and why.

Westminster Hall, the oldest existing part of the Palace of Westminster, was erected in 1097, at which point it was the largest hall in Europe. The roof was probably originally supported by pillars, giving three aisles, but during the reign of King Richard II, this was replaced by a hammerbeam roof by the royal carpenter Hugh Herland, "the greatest creation of medieval timber architecture", which allowed the original three aisles to be replaced with a single huge open space, with a dais at the end. The new roof was commissioned in 1393. Richard's architect Henry Yevele left the original dimensions, refacing the walls, with fifteen life-size statues of kings placed in niches. The rebuilding had been begun by King Henry III in 1245, but had by Richard's time been dormant for over a century. Photo memories Vietnam holiday 2008
Arrived in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) as start of the tour.
Visited the famous Cho Binh Tay market, The old post office,
some war museums in the city center including a walk around the reunification Palace.
Sidetrip from the city is a daytrip to the Cao Dai Temple and the
Cu Chi Tunnel complex
Next part of the tour is heading south to the Mekong Delta and Can-Tho, including a visit to the floating market.
From the Mekong delta the tour is heading north again, visiting coastal places Phan-Thiet, Nha-Trang and qiu-Nhon.
Hoi-an and Hue are both Unesco World Heritage sites and well worth to visit.
Passing the DMZ-zone, the scenery changes quickly.
The Phong-Nha and Tan-Coc caves are amazing.
Almost at the end of the tour, we bumped into the crazy Hanoi traffic in the old city center.
The citytour included a visit to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum,
the Army museum and best of all ice coffee at 'Highlands Coffee'
Last part included Unesco World Heritage at Halong Bay
Stop-over in Hong-Kong on the way Home !

About the archive:
The Nicholson Museum holds over 1800 glass-plate negatives taken by Woodhouse while in Greece in 1890s and early 1900s. A small portion of the archive also includes photographs of his family in the Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia. The collection documents important archaeological sites, significant landscapes of the Greek mainland, contemporary buildings and the people he met along the way. His archive is a rich resource capturing many sites pre-archaeological excavation and before modern industrial development. Some of the photographs were published by Woodhouse in his book 'Aetolia: its geography, topography, and antiquities' published in 1897. His desire to capture Greece on 'film', was simply put in his introduction: "History only attains its full value by borrowing actuality from geography and topography". The archive shows his love not only for the sites but also for the people and spirit of Greece.
About the project:
We are asking you to contribute to our documentation of this collection and assist us with the identification of the hundreds of different monuments and places in Greece. The title of each photograph will include the museum registration number (NM2007.##.##) and may already include a place name where museum staff or Woodhouse himself have titled the image.
All of our flikr contributors will be acknowledged when the collection is published through our online collections at the completion of the project.

Supervisa el Jefe de Gobierno obras en tramo elevado
En lo que será la estación Zapotitlán de la Línea 12 del Metro, el Jefe de Gobierno del Distrito Federal, Marcelo Ebrard Casaubon, aseguró que la obra alcanza ya un avance global del 78 por ciento, por lo que su operación está garantizada para el primer semestre del próximo año, conforme a lo previsto.
Acompañado por el director general del Proyecto Línea 12, Enrique Horcasitas, el mandatario local señaló que el primer tren, que se pondrá en marcha para pruebas de operación, se embarcó ya desde España y llegará en breve al puerto de Veracruz para después trasladarse vía terrestre a la Ciudad de México y comenzar con los viajes piloto en el tramo elevado a principios del mes de septiembre.
La también denominada Línea Dorada trasladará diariamente a aproximadamente 437 mil pasajeros, “es una gran obra diseñada y hecha por ingenieros mexicanos, el avance es conforme a lo programado, es la inversión pública más grande del país y es la línea más extensa del Metro”, destacó.
Ebrard abundó en que las labores para reparar la avenida Tláhuac y las vialidades coincidentes también se encuentran en progreso y conforme avancen los trabajos se extenderán a las otras delegaciones involucradas, que son Iztapalapa, Milpa Alta, Xochimilco y Benito Juárez.
Luego de puntualizar el avance de la obra por tramos –superficial 97 por ciento, elevado 92 por ciento, cajón 79 por ciento y túnel 78 por ciento- el Jefe de Gobierno realizó un recorrido de supervisión a pie sobre las vías de la estación Nopalera a Olivos.
En su oportunidad, Enrique Horcasitas detalló que el primer tren arribará al país la próxima semana y que un segundo está pronto a embarcarse.
Dijo que las primeras pruebas se realizarán en un tramo de 4 kilómetros que comprenden cuatro de las 20 estaciones de la Línea 12. El trayecto se eligió por las condiciones que representa, es decir curvas, inclinaciones y pendientes, que permitirán al convoy probar su correcto funcionamiento.
Agregó que la obra electromecánica que tiene como objetivo la distribución de energía eléctrica a los trenes cuenta con un avance de 58 por ciento.
La Línea 12 del Metro recorrerá 25.1 kilómetros y beneficiará a habitantes de Tláhuac, Iztapalapa, Xochimilco, Milpa Alta y Benito Juárez. Se estima que represente un ahorro en el tiempo de recorrido de las 2 horas a los 72 minutos, y de 13.50 a 6 pesos en el costo por el trayecto.
La Línea Dorada brindará servicio de Internet, sanitarios, guarderías infantiles y espacios culturales, tendrá correspondencia con la Líneas 2, 3, 7 y 8 y está adecuada para garantizar la accesibilidad universal. Durante su construcción ha generado 25 mil empleos directos y 50 mil indirectos

The 2 white spots in the left center of the picture are the 2 mature Bald Eagles that reside at Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve. Above these 2 eagles is one of their offspring this year, a female immature eagle. A friend and I watch the 3 eagles for a couple hours this evening.
The lower eagle is the female. It is larger than the male above. The immature eagle is a female. It left the nest for the first time yesterday. While we watched the female brought a fish to the immature.
There are 2 more immature eagles in this family. It will be a thrill to see all three immatures. The one hiding in this picture is the only one we have seen since they have left the nest.

El Casar - Fiesta de las Candelas 2014

Crónica de www.guadaque.com: Colorido, estética y variedad de actos es lo que se ha podido observar este fin de semana en El Casar con la celebración de su Fiesta de las Candelas, declarada de Interés Turístico Provincial, que cada año consigue congregar a multitud de público, muchos de ellos amantes de su pueblo pero otros muchos amantes de las tradiciones y de las fiestas populares.
Pese al frío de algunos momentos, casareños y también foráneos venidos desde distintos puntos no sólo de Guadalajara, sino de provincias cercanas, se han dado cita en una fiesta en la que los actos propiamente religiosos en honor de la Virgen de la Candelaria (misa, procesión y entrega de la vela) se rodean y contagian del costumbrismo y tradición de unos ritos profanos de raíz puramente militar.
Por destacar algunos de los protagonistas de esta fiesta –que ha centrado especialmente sus actos este sábado 1 de febrero- cabe hablar de los conocidos como “funcioneros” (capitán, teniente abanderado, segundo teniente, alférez, sargento, cabos, el pagador, el yuntero y un “cura de candelas”), que ataviados convenientemente para la ocasión, son los actores indiscutibles de una fiesta en la que también aparecen en escena las picas, la yunta de mulas engalanadas de fiesta y adornadas con dibujos, y la bandera multicolor que los participantes enrollan y desenrollan usando un único brazo.
La misión de los funcioneros es la de honrar a la Virgen. Ellos son quienes deciden festejar esta fiesta y para ello se organizan en una tropa de disciplina y jerarquía militares que en vez de llevar elementos de guerra llevan símbolos de paz.
En cuanto a las picas, en origen armas en forma de lanza, en esta fiesta se visten de gala recubriéndose de cintas multicolores rematadas con ramilletes de flores, que son enarboladas y lanzadas al cielo al compás de la música de los tambores y dulzainas, instrumentos que forman parte de esta tradición festiva.
La bandera confeccionada con retales multicolor es insignia de esta singular “unidad militar”, y preside la formación. Durante la fiesta es desplegada a los pies de la Virgen en señal de respeto cuando se procesiona su imagen, y revoloteada al viento por los funcioneros componiendo un vistoso espectáculo.
Otro acto vistoso de esta fiesta que se lleva a cabo poco antes de la lectura de la Carta de Candelas es cuando los miembros de la cofradía dan varias vueltas a la plaza perseguidos a caballo por un hombre vestido con capa y capirote rojo, el pagador, que monta a caballo y porta espada. Se trata de la persona encargada por otra de satisfacer rentas, al que le siguen la yunta de mulas en su recorrido por la Plaza.
La “Carta de Candelas” es el acto licencioso que consigue congregar más casareños alrededor del balcón de la Plaza del Ayuntamiento. Desde ahí, se procede a la lectura de la Carta de Candelas. El encargado de dar lectura a estas cartas, escritas en verso, ha sido en esta ocasión Mario Carpintero.
En su carta expone en clave de humor las “comidillas y pecadillos” de los funcioneros, ocasionando en ciertas ocasiones –más de las que quisieran algunos- algún disgustillo, al salir a la luz “pecados” desconocidos hasta el momento.
En definitiva, un acto para mostrar los “pecados” de forma pública intentando el perdón colectivo, para iniciar un nuevo ciclo tras esta purificación. Un año más, la Fiesta de la Virgen Candelaria y de San Blas, ha hermanado a todo el pueblo con lazos de unión difíciles de romper.
El hecho de que a la Candelaria se le una casi en el tiempo la celebración de San Blas ha conllevado que la fiesta se haya prolongado un día más, con una misa de campaña este domingo, ante la imagen custodiada en la ermita de la Soledad.
Tras este acto religioso, como es costumbre, se ha roto la rígida disciplina castrense que caracteriza la fiesta de las Candelas, y se ha ofrecido la bandera a aquellos que voluntariamente desean mantener vivo el espíritu un año más. Aquí, el nexo generacional cobra siempre un especial protagonismo.
Durante tres días, los vecinos de El Casar han disfrutado de la fiesta en honor de la Candelaria, un festejo que consigue congregar a todo un pueblo involucrado con el amor a su Virgen, pero también con el jolgorio y el mantenimiento de sus tradiciones.
El alcalde, Pablo Sanz, ha aprovechado esta festividad para demostrar un recuerdo cariñoso y entrañable de los funcioneros que lo fueron y que ya no están entre ellos, así como para reivindicar la necesidad de que el Gobierno Regional reconsidere la consideración de la Candelaria como Fiesta de Interés Turístico Regional, “ese es mi deseo y el gran parte de los casareños”, ha puntualizado
