Todo se altera en las gotas cuando Alona las recorre con su paso acelerado. Ella parece temblar tiritando, pero su tintineo no es de frío o de temor, es el de un alegre cascabel que se lanza a la vida desbocado.
En el vértigo de sus giros, su corazón centellea veloz, transparente, y entre pausa y pausa el infinito y una vida intensa y fugaz que es eterna cuando muere y vuelve a brotar
Sus dos ojos negros se abren al abismo del cielo y del río, buscan la luz entre la espesura verde del Duero. En estas aguas encontrará su pasto fluido de algas que dibujan el laberinto de curvas bajo su limpia coraza, meandros de su propio río de vida.
Quebradas de los Arribes del Duero que unen a Portugal y España, donde el río lentamente reposa plagado de vida en la paz del silencio que recorre Alona .
El género Alona es uno de los más diversificados dentro de este grupo de crustáceos acuáticos como son los branquiópodos y que se considera representado por unas 38 especies.
Este número podría ser sensiblemente menor dada la variabilidad que presentan las diferentes especies.
En cualquier caso, son 15 las que viven en las aguas dulces de la Península Ibérica de las que tres son endémicas. Los individuos de este género viven generalmente en aguas limpias, entre las algas microscópicas y plantas acuáticas de las que se alimentan.
Tal y como ocurre en todos los géneros de branquiópodos, las poblaciones de Alona suelen ser siempre poblaciones de hembras, hembras que no necesitan machos para reproducirse, porque de los huevos sin fecundar, que estas hembras incuban en sus espaldas, nacerán nuevas hembras clónicas, idénticamente genéticas a su madre, que en un prodigioso milagro alargan sus vidas más allá de la suya renovándose y multiplicándose.
Hembras partenogenéticas, hembras vírgenes que darán a luz a hijas y al mismo tiempo hermanas gemelas.
Cuando las condiciones de medio cambian o dejan de ser favorables, aparecen los machos , que se aparearán con las hembras dando lugar a la formación de unos huevos especiales y más resistentes y a nuevos individuos surgidos de un intercambio genético.
Alona affinis es hermana de , de Alona rectangula , Alona quadrangularis y de Alona intermedia uno de esos "monstruos" sobre los que en 1931, el padre de la hidrobiología en nuestro país, Celso Arévalo, escribió, cuando lo encontró en la Sierra de Gredos conviviendo con otros seres insólitos y desconocidos en la Laguna de Peñalara.
Alona affinis es quizá una de las más comunes del género y no muestra una distribución localizada. Se trata de una especie cosmopolita bastante común en la Península Ibérica, puede vivir tanto en masas de agua de montaña como en las que se encuentran en las inmediaciones de la costa, coloniza tanto las aguas permanentes como temporales y aquí entre los peñascos de granito que se abren al paso del Duero en los Arribes, su presencia parece ser ocasional.
Alona affinis presenta en su caparazón una finas y laxas estrías longitudinales y se diferencia de otras especies muy próximas como Alona quadrangularis y Alona intermedia por el contorno de su cuerpo y por la estructura de su garra.
Hoy ha sido fotografiada y grabada en vivo a 200 aumentos con las técnicas de contraste de interferencia, contraste de fase, campo oscuro y polarización, sobre una muestra recogida por Laura Fernandes el 23 de mayo de 2025 desde la Estación Biológica Internacional Duero-Douro a su paso por los Arribes del Duero.

FKDL―Métro Monde

Artiste autodidacte, Franck Duval dit FKDL, pratique le collage sous toutes ces formes depuis 1997: Art scotch, tableaux et art de rue. En 2006, il fait naître une famille de vingt silhouettes aux voluptés noires sur les murs de Paris puis New-York, Berlin, Londres, Barcelone, Turin… Se démarquant par des fonds unis de couleurs vives, ces personnages à la gestuelle pleine d’entrain sont parés d’anciennes revues et font office de signature FKDL dans l’univers du Street Art.
Pour cette nouvelle série qu’il nous présente sur toiles et bois, à la galerie SINCE, Franck Duval a débusqué un trésor derrière les ciels de faïence et les placards publicitaires du métro parisien ! Des lambeaux de réclames oubliés des années 50 qui deviendront une seule et même matière première, sur laquelle s’égaye une série de silhouettes en noir & blanc, toutes parées d’acteurs et surtout d’actrices de cette même époque. Tout ceci pour nous rappeler un passé pas si lointain au fond. Celui de nos pères qui jalousaient Montand d’être auprès de Gina Lollobrigida, qui ne restaient pas insensible aux charmes de Bardot, qui se retrouvaient dans la candeur de Tati ou dans la gouaille de Gabin, qui s’attendrissaient de la rudesse d’Anthony Quinn…FKDL s’infiltre dans notre imaginaire créé par ces figures cinématographiques et éveille notre mémoire pour y laisser sa propre empreinte imagée.
Self taught artist, Frank Duval, aka FKDL, is an adept of collage in all its forms since 1997 : art scotch, paintings, murals, street art… In 2006, he creates a family of 20 black voluptuous silhouettes on the walls of Paris, before taking them to New-York, Berlin, London, Barcelona, Turin…
Once they’re adorned with bits from vintage magazines, his figures, with their characteristic colored backgrounds and their happy body language, make FKDL a unique signature in the universe of street art.
For this new, it is inside the Parisian subway that FKDL drew the material for his new serie exhibited at the Since.Upian Artspace. Underneath the earthenware tiles and the branded posters, the artist, endless strider of the streets and entrails of the French capital, stumbles upon a treasure: strips of olds ads, forgotten remnants of the 50’s. Vintage colors, shapes and fonts that instantly take us back in time, when our fathers would envy Montand for being so close to Lollobrigida or smile at Brigitte Bardot’s charms, enjoy Tati’s candor, Gabin’s cheekiness or roughness of Quinn’s unkindness…
FKDL invites our imagination to feast upon these glimpses of the past and plays with our own memory so he can leave his own imprint.

Es una playa peligrosa, en la que las corrientes y el oleaje pueden jugar una mala pasada, por lo que es necesario tener en consideración las normas dictadas por los miembros de vigilancia. Desde esta playa podremos dar un largo paseo y acercarnos a las lagunas de Xuño y Muro. Posee servicio de vigilancia durante el verano (Protección Civil). Limpieza diaria. Línea de autobús regular, con parada a unos 300 metros, en Xuño.

Situada en el centro de la población presidiendo su plaza, se presenta esta obra de considerables dimensiones como la construcción más llamativa dentro de la localidad.
Destaca en el paisaje local la torre almenada que proporciona carácter defensivo a la fábrica y la blancura de la fachada principal desprovista de detalles decorativos que nos remitan a la tipología tradicional del resto de construcciones comarcales.
Los materiales empleados se reducen casi exclusivamente al ladrillo y mampostería de piedra sin encalar. Al interior presenta planta de tres naves con sendas capillas adosadas a la cabecera que ejercen de sacristía la del costado de la epístola, y de sagrario la del lado opuesto. La escasez de ventanales hace que la luz natural sea casi imperceptible a ciertas horas del día aunque el interior se torna diáfano por la ausencia de secciones constructivas y la escasez de volúmenes. Pascual Madoz, aporta detalles de esta fábrica a mediados del siglo pasado: “…el templo es de 3 naves de 30 varas de long., 21 de lat. y 18 de altura…”
La torre y las bóvedas de la nave central son de reciente construcción. El material empleado en las mismas es el yeso sobre entramado metálico, madera y vigas de hierro que atraviesan todo el templo. Estos elementos que ejercen de cubierta al templo habrían sido en tiempos de mayor altura, ya que se pueden observar en la bóveda restos del Retablo Mayor que a su vez dejaba intuir la existencia de algunas secciones más de este mencionado retablo que contendrían algunas imágenes. De este modo, existirían varias tallas de madera que habrían sido vendidas por los propios párrocos de la época y que incluso podrían encontrarse en algún famoso museo de arte de la geografía española.
La torre de la parroquia fue protagonista de un episodio llamativo cuando a principios del siglo XX se derrumbó parte de su estructura cayendo sobre una vivienda cercana sin ocasionar daños personales. Posteriormente, ya en 1942 se completaría su estructura con la adquisición el 7 de Septiembre del reloj que actualmente la decora.
Se ha recuperado un cuadro que actualmente ocupa el espacio que anteriormente habría ocupado el retablo del Altar Mayor. Se trata de una copia de gran calidad que representa a la Virgen María con el niño Jesús sentado en sus piernas y acompañada por Santa Ana y la figura de San Juan Bautista de niño.
Se tiene constancia de la existencia entre los años 1805 al 1884 de la Cofradía del Santísimo pues se conserva en la actualidad un manuscrito con los estatutos, indulgencia plenaria para los hermanos (con 3000 años de perdón), bula pontificia y listado de hermanos que se encuentran en la parroquia.

I can't believe how quick I shot this.
I left the tungsten back lights in place from the video shoot and while the six girls put their instruments away I used Joe McNally's trick:
I put the camera into Aperture Priority mode, selected f/9 and checked the recommended shutter speed, went back to Manual mode, set the shutter to a bit faster than the recommendation and fired off four shots. This was the third. Quite pleased!

not your average, ordinary bakery
SAN ANTONIO -- Skins of animals and hooves nailed to a tree, those were just some of the bizarre things found right next to a bakery. When code-compliance officers arrived they noticed a number of things that didn't look right. That included around 15 animals in the back of the business.
We spotted several birds, a dog and turtle behind the West Side building. We also saw where animals had clearly been killed and left outside.
When News 4 WOAI asked Jesse Mercado, the owner of Celia’s Bakery, about what was going on, he explained “this is part of the religion, you need to eat the animals, you need to eat it."
Mercado says the religion is called Yoruba, and it's similar to voodoo. When we were out there, he demonstrated some of the rituals that are part of his religion.
He told us he’s “capable to cure anybody with cancer, any disease."
Mercado practices in the building next to the bakery. And inside that building a cat head.
However, Mercado says, "I don't have nothing to do with cat."
There had been complaints of animal abuse, drug activity, and prostitution. Code compliance found sick animals in the bakery next door, bad wiring throughout the building and a mattress in the vacant building on the end.
Savita Rai, who's with the city says, "It's been alleged that occupants of that building, the building at the end, will rent out a little mattress in the back for prostitutes, uh, to apply their trade."
Mercado is not facing any charges for that. But he was arrested on animal cruelty charges. And for now the place has been shut down.

The great Corrie ten Boom, a devout Christian and a survivor of Ravensbrück concentration camp (her father and sister didn't survive German incarceration), is better known in the US than in the Netherlands, unfortunately.
Like the Anne Frank House, the Ten Boom House harboured persecuted Jews in WW II. The Anne Frank House attracts almost a million paying visitors a year. It would be surprising to me if the Corrie ten Boom House, the admittance of which is free, attracts more than 100.000.
It is extremely moving. Please, pay it a visit, or read one of Corrie ten Boom's books like The Hiding Place.

We celebrate light in our pictures. Understanding how light interacts with the camera is paramount to the work we do. The temperature, intensity and source of light can wield different photography effect on the same subject or scene; add ISO, aperture and speed, the camera, the lens type, focal length and filters…the combination is varied and multi-layered and if you know how to use them all, you will come to appreciate that all lights are useful, even those surrounded by a lot of darkness.
We are guided by three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, our longing to capture in print, that which is beautiful, the constant search for the one picture, and constant barrage of new equipment and style of photography. These passions, like great winds, have blown us across the globe in search of the one and we do understand the one we do look for might be this picture right here for someone else out there.

鹽水蜂炮是台灣元宵節時著名的地方民俗活動，地點在台南鹽水區，所謂蜂炮是指許多沖天炮組成的大型發炮台，點燃時萬炮齊發，有如蜂群傾巢而出，故稱「蜂炮」。
The festival starts a day before the Lantern Festival, when the God through the city in his sedans, by a discharge of fireworks and bottle rockets accompanied. Wherever God ‘s sedans go, the inhabitants of the city light firecrackers, fireworks, beehives and sparklers all rose strongly in the sky with thunderous sounds, nice smoke and lighting the night sky in a magnificent feast. The city streets are so dense with firecracker paper scarps covered the surface of the asphalt road.
Over millions of fireworks are firing of big hive in the crowd of revelers who wear helmets and heavy clothing. Each hive can contain a maximum of 60,000 fireworks. The noise, the lights, and the rituals that follow the God continue until the next morning.
Visitors from across the country and abroad are eager to witness the thrilling and exciting scenery seen on the night of the Yanshui Fireworks Festival.
