Two men were moving a fiberglass tub through a door way and up a flight of stairs. Some onlookers were checking their progress. It's a real small town image reminiscent of another era--it reminds me a little of Walker Evans. I was fortunate to come across this scene and watch it unfold.

Pterophyllum scalare (Lichtenstein 1823)

Escalar o pez ángel

Familia Cíclidos (CICHLIDAE)

Orden Perciformes (Percas y afines)

Ph 5,5 a 7; agua blanda a semidura.

Temperatura

De 24 a 28º C.

Mantenimiento

Béla alapította, s a XIV. század közepéig illetve a XV. század elejéig virágzott, s a magyarországi ciszterci apátságok között rendkívül jelentős szerepet töltött be. Végül 1927-ben a keleti szárny második emelete. Study of the day:

" We have to think differently to understand the growth of the world complexity. We have to think according to three fundamental principles:

1 - The “recursivity of organization process”, on the contrary to lineal causality, causes react against effects and effects against causes, every interaction is made of recursive retroactions.

2 - The “dialogic” principle, which consists of associating notions, ideas, and truthes that are both complementary and contradictory in order to grasp a true reality.

3 - The “hologrammatic” principle, according to which it is not just the part that is in the whole but the whole that is in each part. "

Some information about singapore

Singapore, officially the Republic of Singapore, is a Southeast Asian city-state off the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, 137 kilometres (85 mi) north of the equator. An island country made up of 63 islands, it is separated from Malaysia by the Straits of Johor to its north and from Indonesia's Riau Islands by the Singapore Strait to its south. Singapore is highly urbanised but almost half of the country is covered by greenery. More land is being created for development through land reclamation.

Singapore had been a part of various local empires since it was first inhabited in the second century AD. Modern Singapore was founded as a trading post of the East India Company by Sir Stamford Raffles in 1819 with permission from the Sultanate of Johor. The British obtained full sovereignty over the island in 1824 and Singapore became one of the British Straits Settlements in 1826. Singapore was occupied by the Japanese in World War II and reverted to British rule after the war. It became internally self-governing in 1959. Singapore united with other former British territories to form Malaysia in 1963 and became a fully independent state two years later after separation from Malaysia. Since then it has had a massive increase in wealth, and is one of the Four Asian Tigers. The economy depends heavily on the industry and service sectors. Singapore is a world leader in several areas: It is the world's fourth-leading financial centre, the world's second-biggest casino gambling market, and the world's third-largest oil refining centre. The port of Singapore is one of the five busiest ports in the world, most notable for being the busiest transshipment port in the world. The country is home to more US dollar millionaire households per capita than any other country. The World Bank notes Singapore as the easiest place in the world to do business. The country has the world's third highest GDP PPP per capita of US$59,936, making Singapore one of the world's wealthiest countries.

Streetcars in New Orleans have been an integral part of the city's public transportation network since the first half of the 19th century. The longest of New Orleans' streetcar lines, the St. Charles Avenue Streetcar, is the oldest continuously operating street railway system in the world, according to the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Today, the streetcars are operated by the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (RTA).

There are currently three operating streetcar lines in New Orleans: The St. Charles Avenue Line, the Riverfront Line, and the Canal Street Line.

The wide destruction wrought on the city by Hurricane Katrina and subsequent floods from the levee breaches in August 2005 knocked all three lines out of operation and damaged many of the streetcars. Service on a portion of the Canal Street line was restored in December of that year, with the remainder of the line and the Riverfront line returning to service in early 2006

The Yellow-legged Gull (Larus michahellis), sometimes referred to as Western Yellow-legged Gull (to distinguish it from eastern populations of yellow-legged large white-headed gulls), is a large gull of Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, which has only recently achieved wide recognition as a distinct species. It was formerly treated as a subspecies of either the Caspian Gull L. cachinnans, or more broadly as a subspecies of the Herring Gull L. argentatus. It is named after the German zoologist Karl Michahelles.

It is now generally accepted that the Yellow-legged Gull is a full species. The breeding range is centred around the Mediterranean Sea. In North Africa it is common in Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia and increasing in places. Recent breeding has occurred in Libya and Egypt. In the Middle East a few breed in Israel and Syria with larger numbers in Cyprus and Turkey. In Europe there are colonies all along the Mediterranean coast, and also on the Atlantic islands and coasts north to Brittany and west to the Azores. It also breeds on the west side of the Black Sea; here it overlaps with the Caspian Gull but there is a difference in habitat, with the Yellow-legged Gull preferring sea cliffs and Caspian Gull on flatter shores. In recent decades birds have spread north into central and western Europe. One to four pairs have attempted to breed in southern England since 1995 (sometimes hybrid pairs with Lesser Black-backed Gulls), though colonisation has been very slow.

Many birds remain in the same area all year round but others migrate to spend the winter in mild areas of western Europe or head south as far as Senegal, the Gambia and the Red Sea. (wikipedia)

The species is quite common along the Portuguese coast. There was a big evening roost of YLGs on the local beach near where we were staying this summer. A handful of Audouin's Gulls were also in amongst them.

She was a beauty--a gold 45 goddess for sure! A Gold 45 Goddess exalts the archetypal form of Athena--the Greek Goddess of wisdom, warfare, strategy, heroic endeavour, handicrafts and reason. A Gold 45 Goddess guards the beauty of dx4/dt=ic and embodies 45SURF's motto "Virtus, Honoris, et Actio Pro Veritas, Amor, et Bellus, (Strength, Honor, and Action for Truth, Love, and Beauty," and she stands ready to inspire and guide you along your epic, heroic odyssey into art and mythology. It is Athena who descends to call Telemachus to Adventure in the first book of Homer's Odyssey--to man up, find news of his true father Odysseus, and rid his home of the false suitors, and too, it is Athena who descends in the first book of Homer's Iliad, to calm the Rage of Achilles who is about to draw his sword so as to slay his commander who just seized Achilles' prize, thusly robbing Achilles of his Honor--the higher prize Achilles fought for. And now Athena descends once again, assuming the form of a Gold 45 Goddess, to inspire you along your epic journey of heroic endeavour.

One of my favorite quotes of a great human being - one of the countries most revered and beloved leaders. Abraham Lincoln served as the 16th President of the United States of America. He successfully led the country through its greatest internal crisis, the American Civil War, preserving the Union and ending slavery by issuing his Emancipation Proclamation in 1863.

Drove out to the river last night to try and re-do this shot with my new gear, but the dock was crowded (it was damn hot yesterday!) so I didn't bother. Ended up driving around the farmland in Sutter County until this old couch caught my eye.

I got out my tripod and set it up before realizing I didn't have the plate that attaches to the camera, ugh! I had left it on my S5, which I was using to record some video of me drumming.

And of course, once the sun went down the sky started doing all sorts of crazy things, which I couldn't capture because I didn't have a working tripod!!

I am not exactly sure what I should ask for! I really would be honored to have a weekender, but I know that's a lot to ask for! A duffle bag would be cool too. So I'll leave it up to you. Just know, I am not a kitchen person and I've already been made the most awesome sewing machine cover.

Obviously I LOVE COLOR! I don't mind scrappy and chaotic. My favorite designers are Sarah Jane, Lizzie House, Tula Pink and of course, Heather Ross. I don't like polka dot overkill. I especially don't like repros, civil war prints, batiks, muddy colors, and don't really like super girly/sweet. I prefer stark white or a light grey for neutrals.

Persepolis in wikipedia

Persepolis (Old Persian: Pārsa, Modern Persian: تخت جمشید/پارسه, Takht-e Jamshid or Chehel Minar[1], UniPers: Taxte Jamšid) was the ceremonial capital of the Persian Empire during the Achaemenid dynasty. Persepolis is situated 70 km northeast of the modern city of Shiraz in the Fars Province of modern Iran. In contemporary Persian, the site is known as Takht-e Jamshid (Throne of Jamshid) and Parseh. The earliest remains of Persepolis date from around 515 BC. To the ancient Persians, the city was known as Pārsa, which means "The City of Persians". Persepolis is the Greek interpretation of the name Πέρσης πόλις (Persēs polis: "Persian city").

The UNESCO declared the citadel of Persepolis a World Heritage Site in 1979. Persepolis is also one of the 80 treasures featured on Around the World in 80 Treasures presented by Dan Cruickshank...more

View On Black

Got to be large on black

First light in the swanfels valley just outside yangan

We stopped here and waited for the light ... a little too keen that morning

We were exploring the valley for the first time so we wanted to see it all

I got some great shots of the milkyway here too while we waited

Some thin cloud started moving in just before first light

As the sun is rising later now ... a little more sleep again
