Scanning with the ScanSnap S500.
I can comfortably put about 60 pages in the hopper - these are fairly thick pages. I can add more pages to the hopper before this set is done, to keep the scanner working continuously. Or, I can wander off and let it run out of pages - when I come back I will have the option to continue scanning into the same batch.
Scanning took 20 minutes. I was able to do other things during this time, as long as I refilled the hopper whenever it started running low.
Let me also say the ScanSnap is, quite simply, the best scanner anywhere near this price range. It is compact (when folded up it is about the size of a football!) and very solidly built. It scans both sides of the paper in one pass, makes almost no noise, and it almost never misfeeds. When it does, it opens like a clamshell and the paper just falls through - you never find yourself grabbing a peice of paper from one end and pulling against resistance or tearing the paper. I have used several 'all-in-one' print/scan/fax devices with flatbeds and sheetfeeders. The ScanSnap kicks their butts clear out of the park.
You also get a copy of Acrobat 7 and ABYY FineReader (OCR software) with your ScanSnap, all for about $450. Prices and versions may have changed since I bought mine. I expect this to last a decade or more - the moving/wearable parts are replaceable. Unlike the all-in-one devices which, once they broke, were not repairable.
STEP FOUR: Using a #12 tip, I created the buttons and triggers on the top edge of the cake to match the controller.

Sprites are interesting but difficult to photograph. You might go to youtube to see movies of this phenomenon. This is to aid those brave photographers who want to try to capture these very, very fast discharges significantly above thunderstorms. Good luck. Check me out on this: 100 km = 71 miles...

Spoiler alert - if you are tiaragoth, you are going to see how I made your shrine...so stop here if you want to be surprised. I will not load the final photo yet...
This is for a shrine swap, where partners specified a icon that you had to incorporate. My partner chose the character "Death" from Neil Gaiman's Sandman series. I know my partner likes dark, gothic things and also sparkles.
When I saw this clock, I immediately grabbed it. The clock itself didn't work, but I thought I could remove the plastic cover and use that as a frame to mount a picture of the character. I also liked the inset area on the reverse of the clock where I planned to build a little altar using this doll house piece.
Into the pan. The idea is to sear the steaks. We'll be having them medium rare tonight, which means "red with a warm center." So we put a flash cook on the outside of the steak (like you've seen with tuna appetizers), let it cook for a few minutes, and serve. Again this is CLARIFIED BUTTER, as regular butter will burn and taste awful, as well as stink up the house. If you want to get a little more flavor out of the pan, you can add grapeseed oil. Clarified butter is not big on flavor, but it tastes better than vegetable oils. Grapeseed oil can take the heat a lot better than olive oil, and has a pleasant nutty flavor which will equate to a subtle "toasted" flavor to the steaks.
If you have a paper ticket, this is the most important thing to remember to pack. Wallets are good places to put precious things, as long as you don't get mugged. Or, you could try stapling your ticket to your forehead. The sooner you pack your ticket somewhere safe, the sooner you can stop worrying about it.
But: don't pack your ticket in a bin with your gear. You'll need your ticket at the gate to get into burning man, and you won't want to have to unpack and then repack your vehicle just to get through the gates.
