I remember a time, a long time ago, when wings were cheap, I mean very cheap! Since then, they have become very popular, with some establishments basing their entire menu on wings, offering over 100 flavours!

Wings were first served at the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, way back in 1964. They were considered as bar snacks back then but really hit the mainstream in 1990, when McDonald's introduced Mighty Wings. KFC rolled out Hot Wings the following year, and Domino's followed in 1994. The rest is history.

I seasoned this batch of wings with garlic, paprika, black pepper, lime juice, and a pinch of salt. They were cooked just right in an air fryer, and garnished with some crispy onion flakes. Seasoned fries and carrot sticks completed this delicious meal.

I've had a craving for Jamaican Pepperpot Soup for a while so I decided to do something about it. I cooked it! And it turned out better than I had anticipated! Yesss!

Are you familiar with this soup? It is made with callaloo, a very close relative to spinach, giving it a distinct green colour. Other ingredients typically include yam, carrots, dumplings, pigtail, okra, and more. In this version, the dumplings are hiding and I forgot to buy okra. Nevertheless, it tasted great!

Stirring the white chocolate ganache for truffles.

I took David, Radicaldreamer, and Tigerboy to a teen chocolate class at Viking Homechef, in Walnut Creek. They made two kinds of truffles (white chocolate rolled in oreo crumbs, and dark chocolate rolled in cocoa powder), chocolate hot lava cakes with praline sauce, and double chocolate dipped strawberries.

The kids had a 'quiz' after everything was made, before the cakes came out of the oven. There was a lot of joking around and silliness. I'm afraid none of them did very well on the quiz - but they all had fun.

I really enjoy a good steak. This one was cooked on an indoor grill and served with asparagus, heirloom carrots, and potatoes. I was aiming for medium rare but it turned out just past medium. Nevertheless, it was still moist and delicious! Next time...

Another batch of wings, this time seasoned with hoisin sauce and garlic. It was kinda savoury, kinda sweet, and definitely delicious! Some kimchi was perfect with it!

This Tenderloin Steak from Whispering Meadows was so tender and juicy. I had seasoned it with a bit of salt and black pepper just before searing it in a cast iron pan. I finished it with some butter, garlic, and rosemary. Delicious!

The sides included asparagus, heirloom carrots, green beans, and fingerling potatoes. It was a delicious meal!

Whispering Meadows Family farms has excellent quality meats and a good variety. In addition to great cuts of beef, they also have pork, lamb, goat, chicken, and more. If you're looking for top quality meats, check them out online at www.whisperingmeadows.ca. They deliver right to your front door!
