I apologize that I've been a bad Flickr contact. Many things happened in the last few months. Two of my friends passed away. My mom had a heart surgery. A week after that, my father in law had the same procedure. Then the Hurricane Sandy. Oh boy.
I am just so glad that everything is over and that all of us are well.
Plan to go back to Flickr moving forward. Have a blessed and wonderful happy holidays to everyone.
Wishing everyone everywhere peace, health and happiness in 2019.

"For auld lang syne" basically means "for (the sake of) old times"
Unfortunately I only took macro shots this New Year's Day (for Macro Mondays Theme, Holiday Bokeh) but traditionally we ALWAYS celebrate with Martinelli's Sparkling Cider, party hats, party poppers and party horns. This shot was actually taken back in 2013 in a lodge at the Grand Canyon when all our kids were still "at home" and took family vacations with us. For the sake of old times--see what I did there, I decided to age it. 😀 Now it's also ready for Sliders Sunday. How is that for multitasking!? To view this year's shot, I've provided the link in the first comment. To my Flickr friends, Happy New Year, HSoS and HSS!
Smile on Saturday Theme: From Old To New
A wrinkly walnut shell. This shot fits the theme `Crinkled, Wrinkled, Folded or Creased'. Due to the image processing, it could also fit on the theme `Center Square B&W'.
Maybe it also contains a little bit of `Holiday Bokeh'. ;-)
I wish you a happy Macro Monday and a great week.
I wish you also a happy and successful New Year 2019.
A few bells in front of the christmas tree.
For the 'Macro Monday' - 'Holiday Bokeh' challenge 19th December 2016.
Macro Mondays - Holiday Bokeh
A candy cane on a reflective black surface, colored lights hung above the cane to catch the bokeh.
Happy Holidays
Birthday type candle placed immediately in front of glitter coated paper background in a light tent. EF35 extension tube. Aperture to f/16.0 resulted in octagonal light reflections from backlit glitter. LED lights separate from camera illuminated the composition.
I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself what a wonderful world
Tiny droplets on an amaryllis stem, reflecting small flowers and with bokeh.
Taken with tripod, macro lens and Raynox clamp. Besides slightly cropping, I lit it up a bit.
Text and title are a Louis Armstrong song.
I prefer Eva Cassidy's version.
Before we put our Christmas tree away last week, I couldn't resist playing around with a wine glass and the bokeh from the lights on the tree. I hope everyone is staying warm on this chilly day!

So, it snowed today. Further clarification: it's still snowing. November 13th and there's something like 3-4" of snow on the ground. Preposterous! This is Boise, we rarely get this much snow even mid-winter!
Standing outside in the snow and cold is no one's idea of a picnic but I've wanted to try a backlit photo with snow or rain for so long that I kicked my butt into gear and ran outside to pair the dusky ambient light with a single 430ex behind me to freeze (haha, pun) the snow. The snow and white wall of my house acted as a natural reflector, too, no other light source necessary. That was so much fun! Again, again! Winter is coming!

Macro Mondays: Holiday Bokeh
Happy MM everyone!!
=)
After the gala evening in Bourg-en-Bresse, I was given a packet of sweets when I collected my coat. These are traditional French Christmas treats - chocolates and fruit jellies wrapped in colourful shiny paper with twisted ends cut into fringes. Usually there is a message and sometimes a cracker (pétard) inside (like in English Christmas crackers) but mine didn't have anything but the wrapper. Legend goes that they were invented in 1790 by a confiseur M. Papillot, who caught his apprentice sending messages to a young lady hidden in sweet wrappers. The word papillote has now been extended to cover anything cooked in paper.
a mix of August 29: In the Mirror and December 19: Holiday Bokeh. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year :-)
