Image for Macro Mondays "Holiday Bokeh" theme.

Here is another holiday themed image. Each family has their own traditions that make the season special, and this little saying on a frame with one of our family pictures on it had the theme that worked as a title here. I've tried to include a few elements that connect me to the season, including the Bible, a family photo (out of focus), and the lights of the tree beyond. I've also used one of my flare overlays to add a little visual light interest to the image. At some point in the new year I will (by request) put together a package of my custom overlays along with some tutorials on how to use them to sell through my website. Have a blessed day!

Technical Information: Canon EOS 6D, SMC Takumar 50mm f/1.4, Processed in Adobe Lightroom CC, Photoshop CC, and Alien Skin Exposure X (use code "dustinabbott" to get 10% off)

Want to know more about me or make contact? Take a look at my website and find a lot of ways to connect and view my work.

Used the bounce flash here using my sister-in-law's house as the bounce source for this capture of my daughters there out in the COLD with the holiday lights.

... and all they was complain how cold it was ;)

But I liked the results.

Happy Macro Monday to all the flickr friends, HMM

Holiday Bokeh - Macro Mondays

4 more sleeps until Santa comes.

Each week the Macro Monday group is set a new macro challenge, this week it's 'Holiday Bokeh'.

I rather suspect this will be the last full set of submissions for 2016 as next Monday is the 26th and we may not have time to get the next one in.

Happy Christmas to all who follow me on Flickr.

Happy Christmas to all to see this image through the Macro Monday Group (it's at flic.kr/g/3NYFw).

Don't forget the folks that will be lonely this Christmas time.

and Happy Macro Monday #HMM!

I wish you all happy holidays! May the new year bring compassion, joy and success!

I just received a vintage lens that I bought from Japan via eBay. It is a Canon 50mm f1.2 lens. It came with an origami crane - I used it together with some candles for this test shot. As you can see the lens is very soft wide open, and reasonably sharp in the center. Outside the center one can see chromatic aberration and a soft blur on bright objects. Depending on your taste this is nice or not so nice. I kind of like it, it gives the scene a personal touch.

I am looking forward to some more testing. I am wondering how this the lens performs not wide open, say at 2.8, and how portraits turn out with it.

This lens is not too big, has lots of glass, and is very heavy. In fact it weights more than my camera. Both together are 720 grams, camera body alone is 330 grams. This lens has pretty much the same size like the extended 16-50mm kit lens.

I processed a balanced HDR photo from a RAW exposure, and carefully pulled the curves.

This is my New Year's Eve photo for the group Macro Mondays. This week we could pick any theme from the whole year. It was called "Redux 2018"

This Christmas ornament photo fits into these 2018 Macro Monday group categories:

-Low Key

-Circles

-Imperfection (dust on the sphere)

-Ready for the day (The decorations were up by Christmas... just barely, but we WERE ready for the day!)

- Photography Gear (since you can see my camera lens in the reflection)

-Multicolor

-Holiday Bokeh (I was too busy and stressed the week before Christmas to participate, so I am glad to get to do this theme now... although there is only a tiny bit of actual bokeh in the upper right corner... so I listed this one last!)

-Glass

I want to wish you all a very Happy New Year!

I put an alternate shot in the first comment. I actually liked the second one better in some ways, but I wasn't sure it fit the "under three inches rule".

It's my favourite time of the year again! There is just something magical about Christmas that makes me happy.

It is almost a time to wrap up 2009 as well... Cherish the good experiences... Learn from the bad experiences and hopefully be better in 2010!

Macro Mondays - Holiday Bokeh

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!

For Macro Mondays theme

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays all....I've been running around lately so I apologize for not getting to your streams...I'll make it up to you.

Its that time of year again when I get really close to pine trees in various homes and take photos of cool ornaments hung on trees.

This one is a Douglas Fir.

Can you smell it?
