So, it snowed today. Further clarification: it's still snowing. November 13th and there's something like 3-4" of snow on the ground. Preposterous! This is Boise, we rarely get this much snow even mid-winter!
Standing outside in the snow and cold is no one's idea of a picnic but I've wanted to try a backlit photo with snow or rain for so long that I kicked my butt into gear and ran outside to pair the dusky ambient light with a single 430ex behind me to freeze (haha, pun) the snow. The snow and white wall of my house acted as a natural reflector, too, no other light source necessary. That was so much fun! Again, again! Winter is coming!

Macro Mondays: Holiday Bokeh
Happy MM everyone!!
=)
a mix of August 29: In the Mirror and December 19: Holiday Bokeh. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year :-)
Last week for Macro Mondays my attempts at holiday bokeh were frustrating and I ran out of time to put something in. So for Redux 2016 I continued working on the holiday theme.

A little bit of moisture laden, overnight winter air brings some Christmas Eve cheer in the form of a light and festive dusting of snow.
Peeking through the snow is this section of a worm-riddle conch shell, part of a row of "beachy" decorations on our back deck.

I love gingerbread decorations at Christmas time. This ornament came from Liberty Craftworks at Greenfield Village/The Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, MI.
Wishing everyone everywhere peace, health and happiness in 2019.

A Macro Mondays submission on the topic "Holiday Bokeh". Christmas tree lights form a bokeh background to a candle.
« Dans les livres, il y a des chapitres pour bien séparer les moments, pour montrer que le temps passe ou que la situation évolue, et même parfois des parties avec des titres chargés de promesses : la rencontre, l'espoir, la chute, comme des tableaux. Mais dans la vie il n'y a rien, pas de titre, pas de pancarte, pas de panneau, rien qui indique : "Attention danger, éboulements fréquents ou désillusion imminente". Dans la vie on est tout seul avec son costume, et tant pis s'il est tout déchiré. »

Before we put our Christmas tree away last week, I couldn't resist playing around with a wine glass and the bokeh from the lights on the tree. I hope everyone is staying warm on this chilly day!
