I have been trying to capture some Holiday shots for over a week and somehow shooting indoors precluded me from joining all my Flickr pals who are having so much fun with their Christmas shots. Learning about night time photography and lighting has been especially challenging....any tips are appreciated...I'm an outdoor photographer, to say the least! I did use a tripod for the indoor/nightime shots but wondering if there are any good lights out there that are not like flash bulbs that wash out the shadows...?
I bought a snowman toy from a local shop which is spring loaded. He is holding a broom. Press the base of the toy and the snowman goes limp. When released the snowman stands upright again.
Here I placed the snowman on a tile and covered his base with fake snow. I placed a reflective package filling behind him and set up my softbox too light the scene.
I dropped some more fake snow as I shot some images.
Clem loves bokeh so any time he can get our photo shoot to involve holiday bokeh, he's all over it. We got a new tree this year that has colored and clear lights on it that can be turned on at the same time...I really like the bokeh from it. Hope you have a fantastic Thursday!
The 12/24/18 theme for Macro Mondays is Holiday Bokeh. We've had a number of these little wax candle figurines scattered under our Christmas trees for decades, and of course it would never enter our minds to light any of the wicks.
A little Christmas Robin, some tinsel and Christmas lights are what make up my “Holiday Bokeh” image for this week’s Macro Mondays. Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas and Happy Macro Mondays!
Thanks for all your faves and comments everyone!
I really appreciate them!

Good evening, Flickr!
Just wanted to drop by and wish you all a very merry Christmas!! I truly hope you all had a pleasant day. Thank you all for being so kind <3
Merry Christmas!!! (More holiday themed photos to follow ;] )
Close up of a beautiful blue ornament with Christmas Lights in the background, creating a soft bokeh effect. This image was taken for the Macro Monday group as part of their Holiday Bokeh challenge.
The depth and clarity of the ornament was accomplished with an 8 image stack; the colored lights in the background were a small strand of battery operated "fairy lights" placed about 10 feet behind the ornament (in front of black poster board). The lighting on the ornament itself came from the right side, using a 2700K bulb reflected off a silver lined umbrella. Post processing was done in Adobe Light Room first then into Photoshop for stacking.
Comments and constructive feedback are always appreciated!

Macro Mondays Theme: Holiday Bokeh
Merry Christmas and Prosperous 2017 to all! Happy Macro Mondays too!
Thank you very much to the administrator and members of this amazing group. It is a wonderful group and so much fun... more photos to be explored.
Subject: Christmas tree decor ornaments, size 1 inch in width and height
Backdrop: Christmas lights on christmas tree.
Technical: Camera – Fujifilm X-T10
Lens – Fujinon XF18-55mmF2.8-4 R LM OIS
Processed in Photoshop CS5 for windows to adjust the color balance, levels and curve on different layers.
To get a nice bokeh for my Fujifilm X-T10 with Fujinon XF18-55mmF2.8-4 R LM OIS; I placed the subject around 3 meters away from the backdrop, and then zoomed in the lens to 55mm. The camera to subject distance is at around 18 inches, that is the minimum close-focusing distance at 55mm.
Since I’m not using my 60mm macro lens, I cropped it at the size of 3” group guidelines.
All comments are highly appreciated. It will help me a lot to improve my photography skills. Big thanks to all of you for the comments, faves and views.
Happy clicking to all! HMM! Happy Holidays flickr friends!

This weeks entry for Macro Mondays theme of Holiday Bokeh, with the aid of the glass ball, and for and extra twist, converted to b/w.
We are all fossil crazy, so this silver mounted polished ammonite is the perfect gift for my wife who fortunately doesn't have a flickr account!
