Some quick rough edits from yesterday's flickr photographer meet-up in Ann Arbor, MI. Several photographers showed up to photograph some fabulous models from Model Mayhem!

We had some wonderful stylists as well!

Coalbrookdale High School at Dale End was opened in 1911 as a way of amalgamating the numerous church-run and private schools dotted around the Ironbridge Gorge. In 1965 the high school merged with the new Madeley Secondary Modern School at Hill Top in Madeley (later to become the Abraham Darby Comprehensive School). The high school premises were initially used for teaching the first- and second-year pupils but, in 1968, these too moved to the Madeley site.

The building is now home to Coalbrookdale and Ironbridge (C of E) Primary School with a capacity of 222 students. The chimneys in the distance are the Ironbridge (aka Buildwas) power station cooling towers.

The photograph was taken quickly on a Saturday morning since loitering about on a school playground with a camera is not to be advised these days.

Padstow is a town, civil parish and fishing port on the north coast of Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. The town is situated on the west bank of the River Camel estuary approximately 5 miles (8.0 km) northwest of Wadebridge, 10 miles (16 km) northwest of Bodmin and 10 miles (16 km)

northeast of Newquay.

Padstow was originally named Petroc-stow, Petroc-stowe, or 'Petrock's Place', after the Welsh missionary Saint Petroc, who landed at Trebetherick around AD 500. After his death a monastery (Lanwethinoc, the church of Wethinoc an earlier holy man) was established here which was of great importance until "Petroces stow" (probably Padstow) was raided by the Vikings in 981,

according to the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle. Whether as a result of this attack or later, the monks moved inland to Bodmin, taking with them the relics of St Petroc. The cult of St Petroc was important both in Padstow and Bodmin.

Padstow is recorded in the Domesday Book (1086) when it was held by Bodmin Monastery.

Homer: Tell me, O muse, of that ingenious hero who traveled far and wide after he had sacked the famous town of Troy. Many cities did he visit, and many were the nations with whose manners and customs he was acquainted; moreover he suffered much by sea while trying to save his own life and bring his men safely home. . . --Homer's Odyssey, Book I

First try doing a boil perm. I was so nervous!

It's not perfect but I think it turned out looking OK.

I like it better than how her hair was styled in the original package. When I took her out of the box I thought her hair looked like scrambled eggs :| so I've been wanting to redo it for a while.

I've always wanted her to have big curls. I might try to redo the boil perm sometime to get it looking even better.

The coastal community of High Island sits atop a salt dome at the east end of Bolivar Peninsula. It was named High Island because the hill sits about 45 feet above sea, the only dry land visible during storms and flooding.

Settled by Anglos in the early 1800s, nearly all of High Island lies within the Martin Dunman Survey, granted in 1837. The pioneers were mostly farmers, though George E. Smith gained fame from his patented bottled water from natural springs on his land.

The town expanded in 1886 when the Gulf and Interstate Railroad began operations in the area. A depot was built, along with many new businesses. In 1897 C.T. Cade constructed the Sea View Hotel on the hill overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. The hotel became a place of refuge in 1900 and 1915 when hurricanes struck the Texas Coast, causing flooding over the peninsula.

Oil was discovered on High Island, with successful drilling beginning in 1916. Petroleum deposits found at the perimeter of the salt dome in 1931 started an oil boom, and provided employment for the region.

High Island has become recognized internationally as an important habitat for migratory birds, bringing crowds of bird-watchers annually to the area.

The submerged aquatic that can grow in water up to roughly 2.5 meters floating on the lake and that covers a large section of the shallower northern section is Sparganium angustifolium, Narrowleaf Bur Reed.

In the foreground, the stand of greenish plants is the sedge sedge Carex utriculata which forms extensive stands on mainly the eastern/northeastern half of the lake.
