Main Administration Block, High Royds Hospital, Menston.

Taken on a jolly walk around a very active building site. A new housing estate is enroaching the grounds round the back, whereas some of the ward buildings have been quite sympathetically converted into apartments. Main Admin is earmarked to be retirement homes, with no date for completion at present. There was some work going on in the ground floor, although I have heard the building is in quite a desperate state.

Some trivia:

The film 'Asylum' (2005) was filmed here.

The Kaiser Chiefs have written a song about it: 'High Royds', on the album 'Yours Truly, Angry Mob' (2007)

Super high tides on Sunday before a Seahawks domination over the Cardinals. The storm split the skies and mixed colors around like a drunk painters palette! no rain but I was splashed by the waves a few times.

A very gorgeous and immensely beautiful doll. I love her auburn red hair and her screening, especially those red lips. Her hairdo is very intricate and beautiful and she is so amazingly elegant and demure. Just love looking at her.

However, her bun doesn't feel very thick or full. I somehow imagined the bun fuller and thicker and just...bigger, but when you touch it, it feels rather small and thin. I guess it's because she is not fully rooted.

And sorry, no, I dont buy for one second that she had to be half bald in order for IT to be able to pull off this hair do. IT has done more elaborate stuff than this with a fully rooted head. They were just cutting corners here it seems. Her bun need to be bigger and fuller. She is clearly missing hair, even though you cannot see it.

Sadly, her lip paint is misapplied as well. It looks zig zaggy and uneven as you zoom in.

Finally, her head color does not really match her body, which seems kinda grey compared to her face that is more skin colored/porcelain.

Other than that she is a gorgeous doll and i am very pleased with her. I just wish IT would pay a little more attention to detail and fix their quality control issues. The last 3 or 4 dolls I have gotten from them have had issues of some kind.

I just can't believe it's taken me this long to get a shot of a train at this location. I have driven over this single track, which crosses Diehl Road on the border of Naperville and Aurora, literally hundreds of times, and I never see any trains. Tonight as I was on my way home from work, I noticed a high green for a southbound train. Knowing that the signal is an approach signal, I pulled over into a nearby parking lot and waited. Within 30 seconds I heard a horn, and imagine my surprise to see EJ&E 667 rounding the bend. Must have been good luck!

A persistent high-pressure system off the Southern California coast is currently deflecting El Niño storms and clearing the skies for some beautiful sunsets. The passing contrail really anchored it for me, giving an almost cosmic quality.

High key rocks. I'm not so sure about it. You?

Deputy Secretary of State Bill Burns led a high-level United States Government delegation to Africa from January 26-30. In Ethiopia, Deputy Secretary Burns attended the 18th African Union (AU) Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on January 29 and 30. The Deputy Secretary also met with Prime Minister Meles and other senior officials to emphasize the strategic importance of that country to countering violent extremism in the greater Horn of Africa region. Deputy Secretary Burns also met with several regional and international leaders on the margins of the AU summit.

Prior to the summit, the delegation traveled to Ghana, Uganda, and South Sudan. In Ghana, Deputy Secretary Burns met with President Mills to reinforce the U.S. commitment to building strong ties with one of Africa’s leading democracies. The visit highlighted the United States’ continued commitment to presidential initiatives such as the Partnership for Growth and the Millennium Challenge Corporation. Deputy Secretary Burns also met with alumni of U.S. exchange programs.

In South Sudan, the Deputy Secretary met with Vice President Machar and other senior officials to encourage expeditious resolution to outstanding post-Comprehensive Peace Agreement issues. Deputy Secretary Burns also encouraged the Government of South Sudan’s efforts to promote reconciliation and break the cycle of inter-ethnic violence.

In Uganda, Deputy Secretary Burns’ discussions with President Museveni and members of Uganda’s civil society highlighted the strength of the bilateral partnership on a range of issues, including regional security and on helping Uganda strengthen its commitment to good governance and respect for human rights. Deputy Secretary Burns also visited a medical clinic that is advancing integrated health service delivery, a key part of the U.S. Global Health Initiative.

High Key ISO Elevator of shots processed with RawTherapee. There is some white balance difference here. The K-x shots had a distinct green color over ISO 1600. This made comparison difficult, so I spot white balanced them all with a 32x32 pixel area from the lower left of the shot. That's the grey background. But still the higher ISO K-x shots are warmer.

I feel like crap today...a continuation from yesterday...it never fails...within 2 months of school starting back up I get whatever the little buggers are carrying. Thus...the high key...hopefully you can't see just how bad I REALLY look today.

This evening after dinner at the beach near Safety Bay pier , we dropped by to check on what was the second nite of a seriously high tide following on the tail of Cyclone Bianca which made a cameo appearance along WA's coast on Sunday afternoon. That little pier usually has a 2 -3 foot clearance during high tide.
