We've all seen trouble from time to time

There is a mountain ahead

I've got no strength to climb, hey

If you're feeling that you're strong

Reach out to me

I hope this journey won't take long

But won't you please

Have mercy

Everybody needs a helping hand

Take a look at your fellow man

And tell me what can I do today

'Cause everybody needs a helping out

If that ain't what it's all about

Tell me what

What can I do

What can I do today

A group of adventurous tourists head up the top-most part of the Vesuvius crater. There is a sheer drop of hundreds of feet on either side!

Even with her spiky-heeled pointy-toe boots, she went out of her way to help the older lady get across the slippery ice in the parking lot. On Eastlake Avenue, in Seattle.

....what they can help, and what they cannot..." ~ Plato

Another clone shot from when I met my friend Claire to go for our last lunchtime photo session before travels. We decided to break out the tripod and mess around on the climbing frame at Regent's Park!

The concept for this one was Claire's, the piecing together is me.

Just something a little different..

I caught Annette reaching out and "bugging" this little guy ...

We lived in Nashville for 3 years and while I was there I met a group of women who have been some of the most influential people in my life. I have been inspired and awed by these ladies. When we moved away they made me this bracelet so I would remember them and wear this as a helping hand. It still means so much to me and I wear it every time I fly in an airplane, I am not superstitious but I have certain meaningful jewelry that I wear when I am taking flight, you know, just in case.

This shot was inspired by today's Shutter Sisters post shuttersisters.com/home/2012/3/14/magic-sand-dollar.html and the composition was inspired by a Design Mom post www.designmom.com/2012/03/diy-clay-charms/

Give a helping hand to the heroes moving from one land to another through varied dangerous portals.

We stopped and hooked on to a group of fellow boaters last night and towed them about 8 miles down the lake to the dock.

A Helping Hand, designed by sculptor Cloyd Barnes, was dedicated on November 30, 2001 and placed at 13th Street and Washington Avenue on May 24, 2001. It is dedicated to F.A. "Heinie" and Barbara Foss in recognition of a lifetime commitment to the Golden community.

The bronze sculpture is part of the Golden Public Art Partnership (GPAP), which was established in July, 1999, as a branch of the Golden Civic Foundation and received funding from the foundation, the City of Golden and from private contributions.

Gah, I'm afraid they look pretty horrible but hey, I'm improving.

Photograph taken at 11:25am on October 4th 2007 in Trafalgar Square, Central London. The council in their infinite wisdowm long ago made it illegal for the sale of bird seed for the pigeons, an age old tradition that spans generation. But the tourists and British ignore the red tape, and the birds and their seed still find a way!

Compassion of a fellow human being towards a bedraggled and elderly pigeon that just wanted a little food and attention amidst the frenetic London pace.

One of those photographs when luck brings together a frame that you wouldn't have caught otherwise. :-)

Hope you see the symmetry...see the hands? Holding on to a something special...

Here's for our helping heart :)

This is not my photograph, it is an edit as requested in the Helping Hands group here: www.flickr.com/groups/helping_hands_photo_editing_and_pho...

Original photo by Kristi Stone. Thanks to SkeletalMess for use of his texture: Grunge 1 here www.flickr.com/photos/skeletalmess/3504786188/

Editing steps used in Photoshop Elements 8:

Created new 12x12 file, selected the original file and used the move tool to move into new file and resized to fit.

Add New Adjustment Layer - Levels, set using Auto Levels

Duplicated photo layer and applied a High Pass Filter with a radius of 50.0, set to Overlay at 100%, this brought out all the wonderful textures in the boots.

Applied Layer Mask to the High Pass layer and masked out the background foliage so it would not be as detailed.

Layer>>New Fill Layer>>Solid Color...navy blue #06022e set to Exclusion at 100%

Layer>>New Fill Layer>>Solid Color...brown #221605 set to Soft Light at 42%

Added the texture layer twice, the first as Overlay at 100% and the second as Hard Light at 72%

Back Story .........................................

This is the least graphic of her wounds.

The information you are about to receive is based on

facts and my opinion.Through sign language with the

nuns and no# 1's translation from the nuns a story line

has been put together about the actual event that took

place yesterday at the monkey mountain.

A call last night from the nuns alerted us that Mama

had been attacked by crazed apes and is in trouble.

No# 1 wife is translating info to me from the nuns then

my reply back to the nuns as to what first-aid procedures

to apply in order to save Mamas life. You can read about it

in the comment section under the photo " Showing Respect ."

When Mama didn't show up for dinner time a full press search

started with the 3 nuns, Legs the Zoomer, Stubby and Mr Rocky.

It was Legs The Zoomer that found Mama laying in the entrance

to a small cave surrounded by heavy foliage about 2-300 meters

from the nuns place.

IMO, Mama was so badly injured she crawled there to die !

Why was Mama out in the jungle by herself ? Again, IMO,

Mama is, and has always been a very independent dog.

This is her kingdom and she always wanders about freely.

Once Legs found Mama she raced back to the nuns, then

back to Mama. Rocky followed Legs and stayed with Mama

as Legs once again raced back to the nuns while Mr Rocky

continued to bark until the nuns finally showed up.

Mama was covered in blood, couldn't stand and was near death!

Here's a side-note:

Mama has recently moved in with the nuns and no longer

stays at The Dog Palace. Now think about this. If Mama

was still living at The Dog Palace nobody would have known

Mama was missing and she most likely would have died all by

herself in that cave ! ..;-(

At 5AM I was already in motion. Sidecar packed with supplies

and special stuff no# 1 had cooked for the nuns.

Trip out took for ever as my mind continued to ask questions.

Only way to get answers is to get there and do a hands on.

Figured Mama would be at the nuns as they said all 3 of them

would be watching her all throughout the night, they did.

Upon my arrival at The Dog Palace Rocky came racing out

to greet me as the gate was being unlocked, thought that

was a bit odd ? Once the scooter/sidecar was put in place

and a bunch of stuff was gathered into my hands I started

for the bingo room. Rocky kept coming back and poking me

while walking up the steps to the first landing. Walked around

the corner and there's Mama laying in front of the bingo room.

Fresh blood leaking from wounds, dried blood covering others.

Tears had been and were still running from her eyes and a very

sad expression was on her usually smiling face.Mamas in Pain !

Dropped to my knees and gently started doing a quick inspection.

This didn't look good, not good at all. Grabbed my first-aid

kit from the bingo room and started in addressing what was

visible. Deep deep puncture wounds, long deep lacerations.

Torn flaps of raw flesh, but no spurting bright red blood flow.

Where she was laying had blood but not thick layers of blood.

Rocky is very concerned as he continues to lick my ear

and sniff at his mom while prancing about as if saying.

"Hurry, fix my mom, please hurry and stop her pain!"

Mama placed her head in the palm of my hand and

pressed down heavily sending her own message for

help !

IMO, Mama came to the bingo room to say good by !

OK,
